It's good to see that this little ITX board can still handle 9900K @ 5.0GHz very well.

The 6-phase VRM is able to hold up to 200W CPU power package as seen in Prime95 v26.6 Small FFTs (non-AVX):

VRM temp is 61.5C max, measured through IR thermometer (might not be accurate though):

XTU: no throttling during the benchmark

* Setup pic, I actually put one 120mm fan blowing towards the VRM area just in case. biggrin.gif

Next up would be RAM OC.
Look at the RAM OC profiles available in the UEFI, should be useful as a good starting point for RAM OC:

Wa not bad! VRM temp also quite respectable <80c (with a fan as you said kekeke).

[TH] 9900KF May Overclock Better Than 9900K
QUOTE
Surprisingly, according to the mere five samples I received, the -9900KF appears to overclock better with extreme cooling than the 200 Core i9-9900K’s I’ve binned.

Cheap DDR4-4000+ is coming.
DDR4-4000 is no longer can only be achieved by Samsung, but SK-Hynix is now able to overclock that high.

4-layer boards support Hynix up to DDR4-4266
Eight-layer GODLIKE DDR4-4400
2-DIMM ITX DDR4-4600

That's some dope memory overclocking. Can the MPG Z390i achieve the same results using the same RAM?

I have yet to test these RAM modules on the MSI, perhaps later when I'm free to swap mobos again. 🙂

[TH] Samsung Rings B-Die Memory Death Knell

Overclockers love Samsung's B-Die memory, but the company is unceremoniously killing it off. According to the consumer DIMM section of Samsung’s latest Product Guide, B-Die memory "dies," M-Die matures, A-Die ascends, and 32GB UDIMMs really are available in Q2 2019.

Samsung will continue to produce C-die and D-die 8 Gb memory chips using its 10 nm-class process technologies. Officially rated for DDR4-3200 and DDR4-3600 speed bins, these ICs have been in production since 2016 and 2017 respectively.

A2 vs A1 vs A0 PCB

As you can see manufacturers try to get IC as close as possible to the contacts pin. The output can be better frequency, better timings... but be careful, new trace can have compatibility issue with old bios.

Good effort appreciated. notworthy.gif It seems that AMD chips don't heat up as bad as coffee lake processors. But is the overclocked speed (eg 4.2) of AMD equivalent to Intel @ 5.0GHZ in term of performance?

FC5 game is a good example that demonstrates the CPU scaling. If you looked again at the chart above, at max OC the Ryzen CPUs are significantly slower than Intel especially on the minimum fps. In fact, stocked 8700K and 9900K are already faster than the overclocked Ryzen equivalent.

In terms of thermal performance, Ryzen are actually hotter clock-to-clock. If you observed closely at my temp comparison above, a 9900K at stock 4.7GHz is much cooler than an OCed 2700X at 4.2GHz. Same thing for 8700K vs 2600X.

Not to mention the higher voltage that the Ryzen needed at these clock frequencies. Now take a look at the power consumption as the following, you will notice that a stocked Intel consumes much less power than an OCed Ryzen, and Intel is faster.

Nice, but price will be higher. Warranty claim will be difficult unless international warranty, aye?

For rare items that are not available locally, yes can buy from Amazon/Newegg etc if you don't mind the warranty hassles.

[Anand] Intel Announces 8 Core i9-9900KS: Every Core at 5.0 GHz, All The Time
user posted image
QUOTE
The main difference compared to the Core i9-9900K is currently that all-core turbo value, which is a flat 5.0 GHz, a 300 MHz increase. There's a slight chance Intel might have increased the TDP, especially given that the base frequency (which TDP is built on) has increased 10% from 3.6 GHz to 4.0 GHz.
