The last time I heard from mailboris - the ex-owner of one of my rat, he got it from a supplier in the lab. He used to work in a lab, otherwise, I hasn't seen any lab blocks on sale in any pet shop yet.

maybe nope,because i must help my lecturer for the conference that day..i wish i can go..actually i fall in love with rat oledi..but doesn't have chance to keep it as pet,i mean fancy rat..btw,gud luck for gathering..

Thx. Too bad you can't come. You'll get to see some ratties action, play with them and take some cute pictures of them home. Maybe if you're free that day you can stop by and join the party. It's always nice to know more people who loves rats in general. Drop by this thread once in awhile la.. maybe if this time gathering jadi, next time we can organise more rattie activities together.

hi,can i feed my rat with Alfafa Hay as their staple food?

Just wanna show u pic of my rat. Its a desert kangaroo rat.

Hi, it's okay to mix some Alfafa in their staple diet but not entirely. Rat's diet consist all sorts of nutrients including protein, carbohydrate, fibre, fat, and mineral salt. It is better if you can give them hamster mix instate as in hamster mix they can find most nutrients that they need. And remember to give them some animal protein (cooked meat, dog/cat kibble, eggs... ) in their daily diet. Fresh veggie and fruits are also good for them. In short, Alfafa hay is not suitable for rats' staple diet. Picky eaters like rats will probably hate Alfafas like we do. =P

ok,thanks @nnie,actually when i gave alfafa to them,they take it and make their nest..LOL

Does its tail look like a feather? (black and white at the tip?) If it is, then it's a jerboa instate of a kangaroo rat. Because kangaroo rats have small ears and their tail don't have the black and white thingy. Wikipedia has their pictures. I've seen them in the pet shop. Very cute creature. Looks very cartoony.
