depending on the number of guppies that you want to keep. a regular 1.5 feet tank should cost less than RM 50. add in a china brand hob filter which cost roughly rm20. and if u wanna aquascape u gotta invest in gravels or soils, rocks, plants blablalbla.recommended to cycle the tank first before dumping in fish. although guppies are hardy fish it doesn't mean that they are invincible.
also if u have anymore questions regarding setting up a tank go over to aquarium v2 thread. alot of helpful and experienced forumners there. This post has been edited by cskeong: Jun 14 2007, 11:13 AM |

better get a 2ft tank la. cheap only. gravel also no need to buy expensive type la, RM 10 also can get 4 - 5 kilo already. HOB filter is fine, RM 20 - 30 range. kau tim. oh yeah, if you can get airpump + tube, that's good. it'll be around RM 20 also. one of the most costly part of aquarium setup is light. 6 years guppy owner here........ actually very easy... but a mini fish tank.... (dunit air pump)..... buy anti-clorine water.... buy fish food(flakes will be the best.... becuz guppies dun eat pellets)..... and buy the guppy then throw it in.... once the water turn abit brown... change the water and put several drops of anti-clorine water into the clean water before putting the guppies back in

QUOTE(kyser39099 @ Jun 14 2007, 01:17 PM) yay!! just bought 2 males n 4 females!! a good ratio would be 1 male to 3 female. and generally they're very active. after you put them in the tank, let them settle in. off the lights and don't go meddle the tank and all for a while. |

They will release their fries no matter what. Just put in more water plants or places that were good hiding spot for the fries before they get eaten up by the parents.
Female die could be any reason, might be tired because being chased too much by the male, infection or disease, whats the behavior and symptoms on your fish? |

sometimes you happen to get bad stock, coupled with the stress of being caught, transport, new tank, new condition, male harassment. - what do you expect?
even my guppy stock, the ones i bought are mostly dead due to their not-so-good condition. however their off-spring grew in my tank right from the start and are now in happy and healthy condition. |
