Yeah, i wish to know too. Which is the cheapest ski park?

I just want to experience, not really want to master the skill, any recommendation?

And possibility to ski on November?

Thanks

Hi seng , can u elaborate more how you go to the muju resort and do you remember ur travel expenses and charges of the rental equipment or if u can maybe u can include yongpyeong ski resort too. So, i will have two option to choose.

if i'm not mistaken from my google info for Yongpyeong ski

Lift+gondola (daytime) = 71000 won
Ski Rental (daytime) = 26000 won
Ski wear (daytime) = 25000 won (is it a must or optional to wear)?
shuttle bus (round trip) = 28000 won

and if i check at grace travel they offer yongpyong package for daily tour include Round Transportation, English Speaking Guide, Ski gear & gloves Rental at 125, 000 won but without ski wear and i didn't know if this package include the lift rental too. But, for budget planning around 150,000 won. which should i decide??

but for Muju ski i only get this info without any info for ski rental and the shuttle bus ..

Lift (daytime) = 63000 won

I've been planning for backpacker traveler so it would be fun if i can go there by myself without need to apply any package with agencies. Like what u told for how to go to nami island the info very much useful to me for my travel planner.
Thank u so much for the info..can u tell me why is it will be very troublesome journey..maybe i need to prepare anything.. hmm.gif

For Muju, it's quite far from Seoul City, even though both will require u to travel about 3 hours. This is how u get to Muju Ski Resort.

1. Take an express bus at Seoul Nambu Bus Terminal (First bus at 8.30, 5 times per day, 12,200 won, duration of 3.5 hours.
For more info :
http://www.visitkorea.or.kr/transportation...dr2=34825&kind=

2. At Muju Bus Terminal, there's a free shuttle bus to bring u up there. (The shuttle bus station is not exactly at the terminal, have to walk a bit to the nearest mart, it's infront of the mart.
Shuttle bus schedule : 5:00, 8:00, 10:30, 14:00, 16:30, 21:20

3. For rentals, if u rent daytime, u get to ski for about 8-9 hours. (Morning until evening). Usually afternoon rates is cheaper and u get to ski for about 4-5 hours.

For the rentals, I used to rent only : Lift and Ski only. I didn't rent ski wear which I believe is not necessary as long as u have thick glooves. While for the travel package, I am not quite sure how they work, may be the lift rentals are not provided. Lift rental is very important as there's no way u could get up the slope without a lift. If u were to pay by a single trip basis it will cost u a lot.

For the trip to Nami Island, there's ntg u would need to prepare, just that u have to take subway + train + cab + ferry to that Island. If u take a pacakge, they will bring u from Hotel -> Jetty then u take ferry. So u save hassle but u pay for alot more =).
For the rates, usually it will fluctuate. The last time I went was during December. It cost me about 80,000 Won including Lift + Ski rentals for afternoon.

I am not sure which is the cheapest ski to go to. But according to the locals, they prefer to go to Muju Resort.
For beginners, u might not wanna spend too much time on the ski resort. Probably half day will do (Take afternoon package). It's cheaper in that way. Yes, I remembered my friends went to Ski during mid November that time in Muju. So I guess u will be able to ski during November. However, to confirm, better check the opening periods before going.

It's a 0 value card. U have to top up right after u buy the card. No, u won't be able to get back the balance at the end of the visit. So u haev to take the card with u =). Reload ideally at 10,000 Won at one time. Even though u can reload 1,000 won up to 50,000 won if u want to.

Yes, afternoon rate is good enough. Ski too much in a u will feel damn fatigue. I've skiied before at a temperature of -10 Celcius with only jeans + long john. Yes, afternoon rate is about 12 - 430/5 pm.

For ski school, I myself didn't take it. I feel it's not that worth it since the lessons are conducted in Korean. So my advice, learn it the hard way. Some of my friends learnt it in less than half an hour. I have a poor balance of my own body and had to "eat" snow for 2 hours before I am able to ski properly. After u can ski, u will 100% feel DAMN DAMN SYOK. rclxm9.gif

Look in youtube how do u ski before u go in order to have some ideas.
Tips: In order not to fall down from the slope too quickly, please make A with ur ski. It's very important to make a correct A shape to stop urself from falling. =)

never thought of ski before, but after hearing it, sounds interesting. went through the recommended websites, found that the rates are quite confusing. just to confirm that, the basic that we need to pay will be the rental of ski equipment and the lift right? it will be around 100k won per pax? the others like gondola & ski wear are not compulsory right? thanks

1 question about the ski resort. if we take the afternoon session for its cheaper price, do we still have the buses to come back to seoul at night? or need to stay overnight at the resort?

Cheju is like flying from Kl to Batam island (~ 450km South of Seoul) if the cheapest non promo return flight ticket to Singapore from KL is ~ RM300+, so expecting the same going from Seou; to cheju lor..& Busan also not near from Seoul;. it's about 300km on the other side of peninsular.

Jeju is expensive not because of its flight. It's because of transportation and entrance fees. A simple museum will cost u 10,000 won and there are more than 10 museums in Jeju. So u nid to pick wisely so that u wont waste ur $$$$$.... Flight there is usually < 100,000 won for both ways if u book early and the accomodation is cheap.

Yes, I think to experience it, best is to go the one nearer to Seoul, so that the transport would not be taking up most of ur time. =)

Yes, there will be transport back. The latest bus leaving the Ski Resort would be around late evening.. Like 6pm/8pm.

Itaewon basically sucks. I have been there and find nothing fascinating there. It's just a bunch of stalls selling fake stuffs at a high price. It's a place for ang mor. Usually u need to bargain to get the best price.

Dongdaemon has really a lot of shopping areas which u can visit. Namdaemoon sells a little bit of different stuffs, it's like our Pasar Malam. Myeongdong too is a good shopping area where u can find a lot of street food along the way.

Basically, the rental of ski is sufficient. The ski and tat 2 sticks will be sufficient for u to ski everywhere u want. So I think Ski Wear probably consist of gloves, thicker jackets, snow cap to keep u warmer.

2009 Xmas, the one I experienced was -20 Celcius. Almost died freezing out there! Lol.. Well, there are still a lot of things u can do at Seoul during Xmas period. They are getting christianised. So they usually will hold some events and festivals around Seoul Plaza until Guanghwamun Plaza. U can get to experience how they celebrate Xmas eve. It's gonna be very very crowded and I was lucky when everyone cheered for the snow when the snow finally came down on 24th Dec late evening. So, please do not worry if u are gonna spend ur Xmas there. It's gonna be a very fascinating one! Do check out their official "visit seoul" website to find out where they are doing the festival this time round.
