hello guys, i'm heading to korea this wednesday with air asia, who's with me?? =))
btw, just wondering, since korea's adapter is the 2-pin-round-headed type and some of our electrical appliances are the same, is it safe to not use the converter?

for 2 pins appliances its safe...but do note that some power socket is only 110V and not 230V..so if you want to charge your electronics stuff...better use the plugs connected to the TV.. the ones connected to the light bulbs are generally less voltage..

for 3 pins one...u need an adapter...

It's called Buff http://www.buff.es/es/ESP. Always wanted to buy that. They sell it in an optical shop called Peak Vision (3rd floor) Garden's Midvalley. It costs around RM80 and above. You can wear it many ways - on your head, scarves, even tube top (if you're a petite). Hmm...now's a good time to buy hmm.gif

1) Try to cover Namsan Tower using Seoul City bus. You can see & select whichever attractions you want to but be reminded, most of the museums & palaces closed at 4pm. I missed m\all the museum bcos by the time I boarde already 3pm Korean time. Oh BTW, by 4pm M'sian time (5pm Korean) it's already sunset.

2) You can walk but I'm not sure whether any staircase nearby.. I walked from the starting point till the 3rd bridge when I saw the staircase...Not dare to walk so far.. U can even walked to DongDaemun as I saw 1 staircase beside Doota.

3) Just came back from Myeondong, Every corners you can find faceshop, handskin, Tomy ... & lotsa repeated similar cosmestics..They give free sample to lure you in..We got lotsa free samples just by window shopping..haha..Not sure aboutr pricing bcos I'm not into those things..But the wrinkle free cream probably interest me haha blush.gif biggrin.gif

5) The winter boot that sold at UT for ~ RN120 is selling at 10,000 or RM28 here only! at both Namdaemun & Myeong Dong Dirt cheap.. shocking.gif

For those who are planning to buy down jackets or jeans from Uniqlo Malaysia, you can omit your plan as the Uniqlo in Korea is selling at much cheaper price. I bought my down jacket (women's) from Uniqlo Malaysia for RM 399.90 and it's selling at 99k won in Korea. As for jeans, I bought mine for RM 179.90 and in Korea 49.9k won only.

I went to Myeondong three times. Haha. The temptation is too hard to resist.
Things (fashion items) sold here is better than Namdaemun.
If you wana buy souvenirs like bookmarks, korean spoon & chopstick (get them from Namdaemun) :0)
There are lotsa cute stationeries, diaries, passport holders, and things you cannot imagine. (I like them. Ignore this if you're a man. haha)

Went to Bears Town Ski Resort today.
Took bus to Deong Seoul Bus Terminal (Gangbyeon, Subway Line 2). From the exit of the subway, go across the road and go into the building, ground floor (they call it 1st floor in korea), and bought my ticket to Pocheon (6000 won one way-express bus-one hr journey) and drop off at Naechon-Myeon. Make sure you ask the driver to remind you where to stop at. Journey was about an hr. When you drop off, I took a taxi for 3700 won right to the entrance of the Bears Town Resort. Damn disappointed as their sledging area will only be opened next Wednesday. :0( There weren't many people. You have to walk down the slope, and cross the main road for a bus back to Gangbyeon station (the station is in front of a restaurant). Bus No. 11 (only 1700 won) but the journey takes about 1 hr 15 mins because it's a town bus.
(I'll upload pictures of the restaurants and buildings around the area so you can have better view of it) :0)

Please DONT go to Lotte World on weekends. I went there on Sat. Lolz. But I wasnt intended to go for the amusement park. It's just that I arrived late at Yangjae's Saturday flea market, and therefore, took subway to Jamsil. Haha. You can get cheap jumpers too! I got one for 9900 won only. :0)
A bowl of bibimbap for only 5k won. No worries.

Places that I've been:
1. Gyeongbokgung Palace..get the ticket right at the main entrance on the right side if you get down from Gwanghwamun station (subway line 5)..if you're coming from Gyeongbokgung station(subway line 3), you will have to pass thru the national palace museum on ur left)..it was snowing that day, therefore, i didnt walk all through..

2. Gwanghwamun Square & Cheonggyecheon..i think it's better to go to these 2 places at night.. :0)..drop off at gwanghwamun station for these 2 places..it's very near to each other..you will nv miss it.. i can see lotsa ahjummas and ahjussi carrying super huge DSLRs to snap pictures of the Gyeongbokgung..you can see ppl wearing red at subway stations ringing bells, you can make some donations too! :0)

3. Insadong.. basically, it's just a small street..my main interest was Ssamziegil..go to the top floor and snap some pictures! :0)

4. Samcheongdonggil..you can find a lot of themed cafes...a cup of coffee for about 5000 won :0)

5. Namdaemun..as I have said earlier, get souvenirs here..you can probably get ur best deal here.. :0) Dragon beard is not delicious..Lolz. So, just save your money. I got a pair of spoon and chopsticks for 2000 won only.

6. Myeongdong..a place I went for 3 times..haha..a wrapped around scarf (wool like) for 12000 won.. I think it's cheap? You can find skirts for as low as 4900 won from mini boutiques..the tall ice cream (1500 won) is not delicious..please dont buy..there are like thousands of face shops, skin foods and etude house..face mask from Etude is the cheapest..1000 won/pcs.. FS is 2000 won/pc

7. Namsangol Hanok Village..very near to Korea House (a restaurant).. I think you dont have to go to Buckhon village if you plan to visit here.. :0) Both are free anyway.

8. Namsan Park.. i went there by Seoul City Bus Tour..snowing freaking heavily when I was walkin up the slope..nv went up the tower, therefore, I dont have much comment.. :0)

9. Hongik Univ Area.. hello kitty cafe?..nv went in but i just walked past it.. :0) sellings cothes and other stuff too..

10. Banpo Bridge/Hangang Park area..went to Red Sky cafe..one of many cafes you can watch the bridge.. :0)

11. Bears Town Ski Resort..as mentioned above..go on weekdays

12. Lotte world/ lotte mart @ Jamsil

13. Namiseoum..must go! YOu can try the flying fox for 38000 won per pax..so that you dont have to take the ferry to the island..lolz!..nearby restaurants sell good food! :0) I took the bus from Insadong tapgol park.

14. Garosugil

15. Dongdaemun..i only ate there..stuff are pricey (as in comparison to namdaemun and myeongdong)

For those who want to find a cheap place to stay...i stayed at Daewoo Motel and its not bad. Although the room is abit small but its good enough for me, no wifi thou, they provide lan cable if u need it. Located near city hall station, just 2-3 minutes from deoksugong palace...and the good thing is they provide free breakfast, not just toast bread and jam, but also eggs, ham, rice, soup, noodles etc for just 40,000won per night.

http://www.daewoomotel.com/

Oh ya be sure to bring body lotion or moisturizing lotion and apply it everyday cos the winter is very dry and it'll make ur skin crack.

This is how seoraksan looks like on 9/12...for those who have the time, hiking up ulsanbawi rock is a must do as the view along the hike and from the peak is really beautiful, worth the 4.5 hour hike thumbup.gif

Do you think I should buy one Seoul City Tour Bus for 1day usage at 15000won. http://www.seoulcitypass.com/jsp/citypass/citypass_eng.jsp
I will start from Myeondong Station and stop at the following station only - Hanpjeong  Hongik University  Ewha Women University  Then back to Myeondong check out and leaving to airport. Where to purchase this seoul city tour bus 1day pass?

How do you communicate with the bus driver to ensure he remind us where to stop at? They can speak lil English?? Eg.. “ Chungmuro Station, Pls call me” & Must sit close to the driver.
They will understand??

For Innisfree skincare – The best seller is Jeju Mask?

Tentatively my itinerary on 09th Jan start from Namsan Guest House at 5pm.
1) Namsan Seoul Tower – By Cable car or Walk to Chungmuro Station, Take Bus No.2.
2) Cheongyecheon Stream & Gwanghwamun Square - (Walking distance 20min from CS to Myeongdong or shall I take subway?
3) Myeongdong – Dinner @ Kyoja Restaurant ( Myeongdong to Namdaemun is 10min walking distance)
4) Namdaemun

Plan to take cab from Namsan Seoul Tower to Cheongyecheon Stream & Gwanghwamun Square. Any comment?

But I’m afraid the weather allow us go evening time, it’s freezing cool!!!!

Tried to print out discount voucher from Korea Tourism Webpage. But failure to register as member. Anyone having this problem?

No U should buy just Seoul City Tour Bus (SCTB) for 9000w only if you print the discount voucher from KTO. It stop at 20+ hot spots every 30min punctually. Why pay extra 6,000w for the extra city pass ? To purchase SCTB ticket, just hop into the bus.

How do you communicate with the bus driver to ensure he remind us where to stop at? They can speak lil English?? Eg.. “ Chungmuro Station, Pls call me” & Must sit close to the driver.

There is a head phone and LCD panel in front of every seat to explain every stop in language you selected.

The SCTB brings you to the door step of all 4 places mentioned above. Save the cable car and cab money for diner, the tour bus drives you up the Nansam hill and drop u at Gwanghwamun for Cheonggyecheon Stream. You can also walk from Cheongyecheon stream second bridge (turn right at Gwanggyo bridge) to Myeongdong and Namdaemun.
