Hi all

need some help here, new to this mechanical keyboard. came across this thread a while back while looking at popular topics.
First impression was wtf these keyboards are expensive few hundred almost a 1k
2nd wow was so many enthusiast here (7 new threads in 2015)

I have previously used and love the microsoft keyboard ergonomics 4000.
https://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http:/...OB2AQMwgdKAAwAA

absolutely love the keyboard layout. but only thing is the keys suck they dont last long, in a few months to 1 years some keys fail. these keyboard are about RM250 each.
there is nothing else quite like this keyboard layout at that price.

Now for my main questions are blue switches.
I have not tested any switch yet, will go to a pc shop and try when i get a chance.

red - not gamer, i prefer tactile feel
blue seems to be the popular choice for typist but its too loud.
brown seems to suit me spec wise?
green - how does that feel? page 1 description is not that clear.

what different between Ducky Zero and Ducky One?
their prices seems to be cheapest mechanical keyboard in Malaysia
http://www.lelong.com.my/ducky-dk2108-mech...7-02-Sale-P.htm

http://www.lelong.com.my/ducky-one-cherry-...7-01-Sale-I.htm

Ergonomics mechanical keyboards are just way too expensive? unless someone knows where i can find a clone in taobao or something.

yeah tested many times ended up with brown after certain period of usage. i can accept blue & red but not green, black or white. i haven't try mx clear yet.

azio look like replica of Corsair K70

from what i know kailh is no.1 copy-cat for cherry mx
*
mx clear has more pronounced tactile and heavier compared to brown.
if you can't accept black, means you probably won't be able to accept clear.

kailh was the first few cloner for cherry mx, but few years back, they had a notorious reputation of switch stem breaking off and inconsistent blue switch.
majority of the keyboard community was heavily bias against kailh since they are like the pirated cherry mx, having their switch stem breaking up on user's keyboard isn't helping them at all.

over the years, i don't see anymore news about kailh switch breaking, i hope that it's because they have kick up a notch in their quality.

despite it using kailh, i'd rather take azio than corsair simply because azio is using standard layout tongue.gif

And I made a mistake. My stab metal slid out. Hue.

that is sad...

your stab came off?

another rapid-i victim lol
i am really curious if it's only due to faulty batches of LED or faulty pcb design...
since the same happens to ducky shine 3 and 4?
*
Many years d board already. At least last longer than my previous Ducky Shine 2.
Well, I normally took this Rapid-i for most of my product photography. smile.gif
Now rosak "R", still can use "Esc" for single keycap photography. biggrin.gif
Rapid-i tahan few years, must cukur. Ducky Shine 2 last time bad luck last less than 1 year then rosak LED.

Eeks......hope my recently acquired Rapid-i will be okay. If not, I'll have a reason to get a new MKB whistling.gif

Can 1-to-1 exchange if you still have warranty. Btw, Rapid-i is the best-selling keyboards of CM. rclxm9.gif

the thread used to move even more before they remove post count from this thread, after that it slowed down.
now we slowly see it picking up because more people are aware of mechanical keyboard already, and recently it picked up pace because of bash a giveaway tongue.gif

anyway, regarding the switch type.
i used to think and simulate the switch in my mind as to which type i would prefer before buying or trying any of it.
i game and i like to type, so i figured mx brown switch would suit me best.

(btw, mx green = mx blue with heavier spring, means u need to use more force to press down)

when i finally got to try my hands (or fingers) on the real thing, both brown switch keyboard and blue switch keyboard.
i instantly fell in love with blue switch in the first 2 keypress.

and now guess what's my favourite switch now?
mx black using mx blue's stock spring, which basically means a lighter version of mx black (linear).

moral of the story is, you need to try them. same like shoe or car, test drive first before you buy.
or you can always buy a few different type whistling.gif

now for the 2 links you provided;
ducky zero = a very basic entry level keyboard from ducky.

ducky one = the one in the link doesn't have LED, but it has macro functions which ducky zero doesn't have.

that is the major difference i can see.
oh also, ducky one comes with a micro usb detachable cable.

one last thing, i'm not sure if the non-led ducky one keyboard allows people to sendiri install led onto it...because if they are using the same pcb, logically it should have holes ready for the led. any ducky one user can clarify on this?

Ergonomics type of keyboards are expensive.
For us normal users, get a TKL, will fit your needs. Not bad, and optimized for basic ergonomics needs.

<<green - how does that feel? page 1 description is not that clear.>>
Thanks for the feedback about description not clear. MX Green is like heavy version of Blue.
Clicky + Tactile. Not recommended for typist spend long hours on work.

For your case, try MX Brown. Which can prevent you have fingers fatigue for long hours typing.
Tactile can able to correct your typing mistake, very good for touch-typing.

Ducky Zero is basic spec Ducky, Made in China, and cheapest among all Ducky keyboards.
Ducky One is latest series, lower spec compared to Shine-series, however it's made in Taiwan like other Ducky top series.

Avoid LELONG/11street/lazada, or you may buy at your own risk.
We advised you first, but if you insist to keep buy, then later don't complain. biggrin.gif

Actually I have kind of tested mechanical keyboard few months back, i saw the price tag of RM700-800 and know nothing about mechanical keyboard it, push a few keys and knew they felt different to my normal keyboard.

Macro function - can you also get them in free generic software that can be used in any keyboards? i think there are also macros for mouse as well?

TKL?
are you referring to TKL coolermaster keyboard? - it looks like a normal keyboard not ergonomics, and very expensive RM600-700

mind to share why avoid LELONG/11street/lazada? has some users con via fake products before?
I do most of my electronics shopping online as its cheaper.

Is there a similar thread about mouse?
I bought a lot of different omron switches from taobao last year with the intent of changes the switches, one of my middle clicks are soo loud and annoying.
i have a logitech G300/G300s, think its the best mouse as it suites me finger grip. love all the extra programmable buttons. they are soo convenient.
eg here is how i program my mouse in desktop mode
Alt+Tab (switch window)
Window+D (show desktop)
Ctrl (so you can zoom in out with wheel)
ALT+F4 (close window)
Undo button
Back button

while i didn't follow it from the beginning of it's concept or aimpad's idea, at this moment it make sense that it only works for linear since it seems that it uses either distance or pressure to measure (just guessing here).
nevertheless, this tech caught my interest and i would be very excited to try this out on racing games!
oh boy, you don't want to do that so soon do you?
changing mx switches on your shine 4 would mean you have to open up the keyboard and desolder the switches and replace them with mx red switch.

my recommendation, try playing o2jam with blue switch, you might like it.
or buy another keyboard with mx red switch. <- i'm serious about this recommendation.
*
lol i just spend like 450 bucks on this shine 4
unless got a keyboard sell below 300 then i might consider haha
But i like blue switch a lot lol

then pls use this keyboard secukup-cukup first biggrin.gif
the tactile clicky will make ur o2jam experience a little bit different as well.
i did enjoy my o2jam with my blue switch, but i agree that linear switch works best for games like this.

changing your switch on your newly bought shine 4 is the same as voiding it's warranty.
also you risk spoiling the led when you desolder the switch to replace with new switch.
i modified my shine 2 after using it for over a year (or at least until the warranty's over and have picked up soldering skills over the period, and not forgetting doing a lot of research about modifying the keyboard.)

TKL or Ten Key Less, also called 80% keyboard. A full sized keyboard is 100%. A TKL is essentially minus the number pad. 60/65% keyboards are even smaller, eg Vortex Pok3r

EDIT : Gives you a better idea:

As I am used to working from a notebook, I'm accustomed to not having a numpad. Hence, I use a TKL with my home desktop, less clutter.

Can fit. Just that not so clicky. I think better use with linears or tactile. The clicky sound just left the high pitch part, so it's not really fun.

My stab wire always come out when I change caps because the lubing one the wire. no biggie wink.gif
