hahaha.... yea... you are right.

those that I said can go 700+ are those that are willing to spend on "gaming" stuff  laugh.gif

if those that genuinely cannot afford, then yea, even a RM100+ keyboard is expensive  sad.gif

If fall on the "needs" of maslow hierarchy of needs, then buy it. <-- My case.
If fall on "wants", that's why RM 100 feel so expensive.

true enough + 1

but not all people can justify the price for mechanical keyboards...

there are people who thinks that instead of spending more on the peripherals, why not spend the funds on more powerful GPU so that can play more games? smile.gif

QUOTE(dadudeneverabides @ Mar 2 2016, 06:22 PM)
I'm saying it takes a lot of passion and spending, and considering a lot of people people won't even spend more than RM200 in total, how many people would spend RM600+ to go kastam? That's all I'm saying. Anyone who would go that far is obviously doing it as a hobby (as you'd probably notice that anyone in this thread having a solder kit is really a hobbyist at heart) and would therefore be a little more than what an average user is looking for.

Also, you really shouldn't talk only, but if you really want to go custom, go for it. Don't become like the church pastor who just talk the talk but never walk the walk. If you need help, I have 3 boards running made with love from "scratch" into devices that I can be proud of.
*
Im not all talk, im going custom, already planning a 60% and a TKL build, using gateron clears, for 60% either GH60 satan or NERD60, TKL still finding for a PCB, easiest set i've seen is the groupbuy going on at the fb group which people seem to be salty about biggrin.gif

So you're saying since there's nobody that has a passion and spending power, so we shouldn't care? If people see a non-active community why would they jump in? You rather join a community that has people constantly discussing about boards, how to make them, how to modify them. Or a dead group that only posts about new boards and people asking whats the best cheapest board, no longer a club more like a recommendation thread.

Good luck with the satan. It's the best 60% PCB right now, IMO. Lemme know if you need help with the programming, because I have an entire folder of

Not saying that, just that most people would be scared by the enormity of going custom by themselves, but in any case, I do agree with you that it'll be more fun with a bigger crowd, but when you have a lot of salty and butthurt people complaining about stuff they weren't ready, you'll begin to understand my concerns about the learning curve.

hmm...nerd 60, i think for now best to avoid Gon for a bit as he has a lot of backlog orders yet to be fulfilled. so i would recommend getting other 60% pcb, such as winkeyless's b.face pcb since it comes with a lot of bling if you like em blings.
are you going acrylic or alu or something else?

i guess some old farts here develops a prejudice against ppl who is going into custom for the first time due to past experiences in this forum sweat.gif

faridr's build from scratch custom is very admirable, something that not many can put their dedication and commitment into it, not even most of the veterans here if not all.
sadly our own community is not supportive or resourceful enough for this, i mean people with good EE background with dreams of building pcb or even program it.

ragecat was inspired by faridr's keyboard and he tried to make one as well. though i don't know how it goes already, but seeing no update from him, i fear for the worse.
still, you want to share your experience with us? it's knowledge as well even if the project tak jadi thumbup.gif

agreed. i'd be the first to recommend a gpu over mkb given a choice. rubberdome sucks but i rather have better graphics fidelity and fps.

my next upgrade is probably a pascal hmm.gif

my kepler 680gtx with 2gb vram is not cutting it sad.gif

aww quovadis123 wub.gif

my project that i've started between graduation and looking for job, with little money available, and scrapping whatever I can get my hand on.
To anyone who wants to try and do it, I strongly recommend it. Build it, fix it yourself, and have your own keyboard that is designed and programmed to you own liking. Still my daily workhorse in office.

And dont think about how expensive the hobby is. You may have more money afterwards, but priority in life might change sad.gif which is what happening to me now; work, marriage and little devil coming in few months

I got my SSK for $100 but it was super dirty. Sent to phorsphoglow to refurbish ($40) and then ship to Malaysia ($60), so really, you can't get one for $100 at all if you want it like-new.
*
I don't mind a dirty one as long as it's cheap. I won't even bother getting it refurbished.

Eventually I would like to own a mint one in its original packaging (easily found on eBay if you are willing to part with $500) but that's not a priority.

insaflah buy so many keyboard.

that's what people told me about my spending in keyboards lol.

malaysian bukan no spending power, they just don't want to spend on something that they can get for rm10 but same usage.

generally, people don't understand why they need mechanical keyboard but yes, our hourly wage is a factor as well.

belilah artisan. buy them cheap then flip later. trading 1 for 2 and stuff.

those prices are jacked up because of the hype for mechanical keyboards now. why not try unicomp ones?
