Anyone knows if the Ducky Zero 2087 TKL is any good? Durable? Are there better options at the same price point for a TKL w/ red switches.

QUOTE(CAL V @ Nov 24 2015, 11:09 AM) First thing before buying a mkb is check the layout, see if it's a standard layout. If it's like those 'gaming' layout on the spacebar row, you'll very likely to run into issue fitting aftermarket keysets on it (the keycaps won't fit on the spacebar row). I currently have a cherry brown KBT Race, and pulled the trigger on a Filco MJ2 cherry red, and was thinking of getting DS PBT keycaps in the near future. Anyone on the forums sell o-rings at non-exorbitant prices? If it's a standard layout and all good, then it depends on what type of keyboard you're using, backlit or no backlit, Cherry mx stem or mx clone switches. Usually doubleshot keycaps don't support backlit but iinm i've seen some that actually support backlit. ABS, PBT, POM, just go read up. Most common and cheap keycaps are laser etched, then some use pad print, some use dye sub. DS and dye sub won't fade over time. Keycaps got various profiles, OEM, Cherry profile, DSA, DCS and etc. I'm too lazy to carry on explaning. You should just refer to the first post posted by TS. It explained all that I said. Happy hunting and hope you join the mkb club soon. Oh, about where to buy keycaps, you can try asking ultimatezone, they carry Vortex keycaps (OEM profile). Then look for GMK or BSP if you want cherry profile, but those usually cost you a Filco to get it. Then lastly try finding on taobao. |

QUOTE(CAL V @ Nov 24 2015, 04:05 PM) KBT race seems to have pretty weird arrow keys. Filco, good choice Yeah they are a tad vertically "squished" I guess? haha not sure how else to put it. It was either a Filco or the Ducky zero then saw a good deal on filco and BANG!I think you can get o rings from TS's store, link in his siggy. Aights will check it out! Thanks. |

I wonder if there is another 75% board like the KBT Race 2 that has that has readily available cases because I find that my KBT Race 2 case is quite flimsy, much tempted to get another filco and then get casings to colour code them by switches xD

Guys im thinking of building a board, either TKL or 60% since can easily find those type of cases online.
So im really aiming for a 60% atm so lets just say PCB: http://www.gonskeyboardworks.com/pcbs-and-...-ver20-pcb.html Case: https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index....ct_detail&p=627 Plate: http://www.gonskeyboardworks.com/housings-...ate-for-60.html Switches: MX Blue (can someone point me in the right direction) USB: Lacking in any parts knowledge so no idea what to get for it. Anything else i missed out other than diodes and solder? Also is there a such thing as a switch clicky like blue but soft like red? This post has been edited by siles1991: Dec 14 2015, 02:28 PM |

QUOTE(CAL V @ Dec 14 2015, 03:00 PM) You sure you want to buy from GON? I'm not sure what other options, GON seems to be one of the easily accessible ones, and same site has a plate.Just generally there are many many options out there for 60% pcb. As for the case, I think they are not going to restock any soon. Btw, someone is selling a Lambo 60% case in MMKB fb page. And not to mention lots of option in taobao. Switches, maybe just swap out the blues with a lighter spring? Blues are by no means heavy to me though, I don't like red, too light for me. Usually USB and controllers are presoldered or if there is an option, please let them solder for you. You sure you can assemble yourself and not burn the pcb? Case I already payed deposit for the iQunix next month pay full to get it. I like the softness of red but wouldn't mind having the clickiness of blue to go with it. But if all else fails probably go red i guess. I've done soldering work for audio gear before only failed once so i'm pretty confident I can solder diodes and switches looks basic enough, but unsure what it'd be like in practice. I wonder if anyone has a blue with lighter spring for me to test. For USB port though the site pictures doesn't show a usb port on it, but if i could find good boards with usb alr soldered on that'd be preferable. |
