hehehe... anything that you liked it's considered BEST~

dun buy a RM4000 wallet to place RM400 only in it, buy a RM400 wallet to place RM3600 in it.

we men never go wrong with extra cash on hand at all time... hehehe~

wishing you a great FRIDAY!!

2-4k covers pretty much most luxury brands. Hermes is nice but would you put such an exquisite thing in your butt pocket?

How about Valextra for something different.

Dont know about you guys, but spending 4k on a wallet that rarely see the light of the day is a bit too indulgent imho. But then it's your dosh, buy what makes you happy smile.gif
How about an alligator skin wallet? Lovely textures

Most luxury branded goods are just...well, branded. If you want an awesome wallet and not an awesome brand. Look at anything made using Horween Shell Cordovan.

Leather is for amateurs.

Ashland has a wide range of designs and styles for wallets, with choices of shell cordovan or Horween's chromexcel, which is front part of a horsehide, and some Horween dublin as well I think. If you want Ashland, check out mass drop from time to time, its very popular.

http://shop.mitchell-leather.com/Famous-Mo...-Wallets_c6.htm
Personally, I went for Mitchell's money clip wallet with shell cordovan -- which is usually sold out and he only has limited quantities. This is simply due to the fact that there's limited supply of Horween's shell cordovan. All I can say, the wallet is amazing and I foresee it lasting a very very long time.

Why Ashland has shell cordovan in stock? Tsk tsk.. owner/founder of Ashland leather is also the operations guy @ Horween.

It is. I stand corrected.

Calf leather is for amateurs.
Then again my veg-tanned belt is calf, my dress belt is calf, my shoes are calf. Cause shell is too expensive.

They have the long wallet in their branch.

Walk in and feel it for yourself.

Much better in terms of QC compared to LV tongue.gif

My wallet's zipper seems to be losing color already :/

All this branded wallets, don't really last that long unless you take care of it.

You would rather buy multiple 10 dollars wallet which can last almost as long as all this 600 usd wallets laugh.gif

I could only think of Braun Buffel, if you want below 500. Mine lasted 6 years already with mild wear and tear.

yeah. That's the impression i get from looking at this thread is that high end wallets require high end maintenance. A girlfriend is enough to maintain. Don't want anymore stress sleep.gif"

I feel you on the girlfriend part. Luckily mine does not require maintenance tongue.gif

Don't be surprised if you can find brandless wallet in pasar malam which does better than all this wallets.

Most people here likely to own more than 1 high end wallet to reduce the wear and tear in a single one.

If that's any consolation.

It is a bifold wallet just without a coin pouch. The pattern you see in the Web is not my style too. They have one that is dark blue if I am not mistaken in Gardens.

*
LVMH here increased the pricing in Malaysia.

If you manage to find good rates for MYR to Euroes, Paris can be cheaper.

Service is much better, at least tongue.gif

There's only an issue I have with Bifolds.

The cards will be chewed up and destroyed pretty quickly if you are not careful.

Side note : A Prada Saffiano leather cost around 800++ overseas if you are lucky tongue.gif

And depending on how you abuse it.

Some people sit on their wallets. Some people load the slots up to max.

I don't do either.

Perhaps that's why my ancient LV survived up to today while others complaint about it's premature death biggrin.gif

And yeah, I have a couple of other wallets which I carry around for weekends and other occasion.

Some people say, you'll expand the wallet faster if you load up all the slots.

I have 6 slots but I only put 4 of them.

My another wallet which has 8 slots looks like it's gonna rip off anytime due to me fully loading it with plastics tongue.gif

Ah.

Usually it comes in 3 sized. Small, medium & large. Guess the GM is something like an indicator they use for Neverful series.

With current exchange rate, Neverfull is around 5,1k?

I saw Speedy 35 at Pavillion around 5,6k already.

Meaning Neverfull would be around 6k region in Malaysia laugh.gif

So help me take a peek at Neverfull and Speedy.

Flying there next year so wanna prepare enough funds for the wife's trip tongue.gif

Off season Prada = In Malaysia stores without discount.

Saw a nice leather Saffiano leather bag.

Checked the price, immediately walked away.

Am thinking, anyone knows if Hermes is selling Man's wallet?

Awesome bro.Save bullet for nx year EU trip.
I always stick on this :

Don't blindly buy because is on massive sales.
Instead,Buy the one you aim.. Even with the premium price tag. Is well deserve. And is a great self-reward to oneself.

Besides, I believe any cheap wallet would last longer than those major brands.

Own satisfaction as well self-reward is my philosophy.
Is like a milestone to remind oneself what we have achieve so far.
If you aim big, then you gotta work harder to get the things.
Is like before 30" i have to own a entree-level 'luxury' watch. Then you work hard for it wink.gif

Bought nothing.

Went to the outlet and browsed online.

Saw some Polo shirt but rather get 2 from Ralph Lauren or if lucky, 2 piece from Hackett at that pricing.

Saw a nice suit but pricing out since I can get it tailor made for that price.

End up, eyes and hands itchy but brain saying don't spend tongue.gif

I'm actually looking at their suit too. Brilliantly done.Just afraid might not really fit me.
Hence tailor made will be better choice. Still if the suit price is ok,can whack first and get some alteration later on.

If nothing to get then skip, Save bullet for better and solid purchase wink.gif

Hahaha.. sure you can my bro. rclxms.gif
Back to the topic on wallet, Yes for this period of Burberry Online Sales,I feel there's a few selection item which worth consider getting.

Mens
- Wallet ( Worth it )
- Suit ( After Disc% still pricey ) > can opt tailor made
- Cufflink

While for ladies wise,i think most of the sales item are part of clearence, Their Tote Rm3k doesn't really catch my attention. While their non-promo item tote can simply fetch up to RM7k above. And i can say their price lately have increased a lot.. To me is like Penhaligon perfume (Pricey,Yet poor longevity).

As for factory outlets, coach are dirt cheap in US so it's probably gonna be hit and miss.

Salvatore Ferragamo, Made in Italy.
Slightly more expensive than another brand, when asked, "Made in China but quality is controlled by that respective brand", or so it seems. Asked that cause damn tak puas the wallet koyak so damn fast and not written it's country of make. Showed to the sales people, they just went speechless.

High quality leather products at a reasonable price. Leather goods have always been one of their core products but understandably not accepted by certain age group who, perhaps, prefer ostentatious products.

Nope, the HB sales person said they'll have to contact their regional office in Hong Kong about this issue and come back to me. They never called me back, obviously, and I had to follow up with them with a few calls with last statement being "Yours is an isolated case, I'm sorry, Sir, but we'll give you 10% off for your next purchase but you will have to use it within 1 month & at the shop you complained to."

I still feel ashamed at what I did next cause I actually bought another wallet from them with the discount and the same thing happened again. Thought no point complaining cause the cycle will keep on going and just bought from another brand & the current wallet still looks so good after so many years.

Made in China leather products...Even the HB sneakers that were Made in China didn't last long....

I was dumb and feeling embarrassed admitting to buying it a 2nd time and faced the same problem. Really thought it might have been an isolated case.

Yeah, I like that brand a lot, buying their discounted clothing and shoes every now and then, from their outlet store. Their cutting suits me well.

Ah ok... not seen the current HB wallets. I'm still using one bought about 4 years ago, still going strong with daily use. No tearing or any bits coming apart.

I wonder if the quality has dropped?

I was referring to Hugo Boss. Their wallets' quality is bad, for me that is.

Ferragamo is good, still looks like it's a few months old only even when it's a few years now.

They looks the same tbh.

I am a fan of Damier Graphite thou.

Cobalt looks so fake at time.

Be warned thou, the bottom part and the side parts are quite prone to damage.

Swap out your wallet once in a while to reduce the stress.

Anyone know where I can get a leather wallet cleaned?

I'm using a Prada Saffiano leather bifold, and it has kinda lost its lustre. I've dropped it a couple times and also carry it in my hand all the time, refusing to put it in my pockets because I don't like putting large things in my pockets.

I know there's a shop at Ikano that does a fantastic job at shoe and bag repair and stain removal. Just not sure if that's the place to go.

Don't want to ruin the saffiano texture now.

I got a LV Neo Porte Cartes, it has been a while since I own one (I had their wallet way back when), I'm not particularly used to their leather. Is that anyway I can speed up the loosening process as it is rather bit too stiff for now at the moment?

Taiga , at least it full leather . Damier like monograms are just canvas/vinyl with a layer of leather on top . Are u the kind of person who puts his wallet in his pants even after a sports day OR sweat a lot ? I'm , and after a while with the sweat soaking into my wallet , the layers tend to peel off and u can see the leather layer and the canvas separated . Taiga , well , become " kiam chai " after a yr of using but at least it's still in 1 piece

Sir, how does the Fat Herbie carries? Will it be too large for putting it at front pocket?

front shirt pocket ? yes too large , front pant pocket ? it will fit, but not nice
best place is back pocket
depending on amount of your carrying, tony is smaller but if fully loaded can be quick thick
fat herbie is good if you have load of card, think best all rounder will be johnny icon_rolleyes.gif

*
yes...i agree with noobi3, Taiga is full leather....I have one LV taiga messenger bag...and after 2 years of use...still in good condition...and i also believed that the leather is softer than damier...correct me if im wrong...

Well , damier , monogram , are all canvas with a layer of leather on top so basically , cant consider leather but not much cheaper compared to taiga . Taiga is just nice , epi is 2 hard to my liking but that's just me

Urgh. Since when Tom Ford's are in the gentleman business?

I love their perfumes and glasses but wallet? Gonna pass on that.

With 4k, I'd go Hermes.

Thou it's rather pointless to buy a piece of orange leather for my ass to sit on quite frequently.

I'd get multiple wallets to change on daily basis.

As long it's within my budget and I like the design, I don't mind getting it. Now I take care of it like my precious, in my backpack all the time.

Goyard? Not my cup of tea, help my friend bought one. Rm3k for wallet, with additional Rm600 for the initial engraving (or I rather say it painting). My first impression is like wallet from Bangkok IMO laugh.gif

Honestly quality for Goyard isn't that amazing, and lately Goyard these days are so damn common lol. With that said I still love my Goyard items, but now thinking of getting something more subtle, like a Moynat for instance.

Not really.

It's not as branded as you think.

Most people don't know this brand exist much except for those who goes shopping a lot laugh.gif

I won't say it's anything close to being branded but the quality is indeed decent, if compared to similar price range wallets.

Real branded and expensive? Define those laugh.gif

I find it okay la. Maybe cause its 300 bucks, I did not take care of it much. But after a while, the long wallet version begin to have tiny "fractures" at the edge where you fold the wallet.

Suffice to say, it's decent enough for daily use for the price you are paying for it.

If you have more money, then you can go and spend more money on other wallets for better design and so forth.

few years back, i bought a BB wallet and the logo drop off after few months. i went to a boutique and was asked to pay RM50 for repairing. i was a little bit shocked and 1 thing flash in my mind - this brand really "latt yeh" as the brand logo "latt" (sorry, itz in canto)

last year, i was looking for a wallet. i visited few shops (Aigner, MB etc) and asked the same question, how if the logo drop off. every sales person looks shocked for a while and reply me that this is very rare and they never receive such a complaint before. only BB sales person was steady and told me it can be repaired with RM20 or 30 fees.

so, im wondering whether this is very common for BB wallet. any sifu can enlighten me?

Can't apply for LV / Hermes / Goyard since they don't even have logo to drop off laugh.gif

As for BB, heard few cases before about the logo. Even in this thread, got 2 or 3 cases reported.

Small matter really. If you keep rubbing the logo with some part of your parts, it definitely will take some beating and eventually be damaged.

Hello everyone, this thread got me a little excited about wallets. biggrin.gif

I'm using a Bonia Uemo wallet which is close to 9 years now and the leather is slightly peeling off at the edges (I suspect it's due to wear & tear from taking out of the pocket).

For those who have splurged on these expensive wallets, how long do they usually last? I'm looking to reward myself but would like to gather more feedbacks before making the move.

Just received this "Johnny the Fox" Brown Chromexcel Bifold wallet by Ashlandleather.com

The CXL leather is amazing, one of the best leather I've seen in a wallet.

Not an expert. Just a hobbyist.

Depending on what and where you're getting it?

Leather Saffiano bifold usually around 1.8k and the longer wallets are usually around 2.4k onward?

I recommend the black plain saffiano....

Price mostly fixed around 1.8k onwards.

You can get better price if you're in Europe or Other region.

The point of buying a branded wallet is not to show it off.

It's for people to recognise it without you trying to show it off tongue.gif

Last MD had only dropped CXL Fat Herbie, unlikely they will reduce the price for their signature Fat Herbie in shell cordovan. Unless we have enough volume here in Msia to bulk and eventually negotiate the price and share the postage.

The nearest alternative would be some small leather artelier at Bangkok call "Nerb Handcraft", from the IG account, seem legit shell cordovan from Horween, not sure if they have Shinki shell too. For the price, expect to pay around the same for a full shell.

Can link me the Insta?

Gonna fly to bangkok soon.

Maybe gonna check it out while I'm there.

They have some pretty decent bespokes there as well, won't be too skeptical of their offerings.

Thanks.

It does look good, on FB at least.

Maybe I should try a passport holder / front pocket wallet or a phone casing for the new iphone laugh.gif

Gonna mark this place down as a place to visit when I visit BKK then.

If the pricing is reasonable and availability is easier, maybe we all can source from here in future.

The design language is different though, Fat Herbie iconic design seems only Ashland is having it. Nerb seems making a thicker wallet, no choice if wanted to sandwich 3-4 layer of shells and folding it some more.

Why do you need a high technology wallet?

All you need to go state your budget and someone would recommend accordingly.

I could even fit different size and different country notes on the wallet.

Minimalist is the approach you mean or the design?

If approach, first you must learn to live only with 6 cards and 5 notes and hell, you dont even need a wallet, just need to do the following

Attached Image

For design, you can just look for any bifold that doesn't should for brand, no logo at all, else it wouldn't be minimal.

10-12 cards = Long wallet d.

And long wallets are not minimalist in design.

In fact, they looked horrible if you are not the type that likes such wallet.

Looks exactly like mine that's sitting inside the box.

Hard to use on daily basis since front pocket would be too small and back pocket too exposed to hold the wallet properly.

End up keep in box.

maiself thank you very much dude; truth is, I forgot about this too laugh.gif

The Daily 28 looks to be pretty big. Hows the quality on them? Is the lining thick enough to hold the bags shape when its loaded up? I noticed they have also launched a new model; looks good in pics, but wonder how they look like irl. Btw, what's a good colour? Blue? Green? I also like the steel grey, if I'm honest...

I'm tempted with the Daily 28!

Can I request more photos? biggrin.gif

Side note : We should make a WA group so that we can communicate more effectively, to share stuffs that are not suitable for forums ( eg - photos that may expose other's indentity ) and finally perhaps make some loose change from the travelling ( Eg - introduce buyers from known circles and so forth ) biggrin.gif

As for me the quality is good and the lining just fine to when you put all stuffs in, I like most of the color as myself im prefer something in blue, but color is subjective.

personally, i am not very into getting too expensive wallet. cause my wallet all will get spoil after 2~3years being used. some more the maximum my wallet have is only 500. getting a thousand dollar wallet just doesn't feel right.

Hi guys,

Been looking around for a new wallet, came across Prada's Saffiano range and I kinda like the quality.

Would it be cheaper if its purchased from Prada in Italy? Lets say Milan for example

Just a quick question to fellow experts here -

Goyard personalisation for wallets and bags can get on the spot? I read that it was hand painted so it might be slower than usual? laugh.gif

yo all the sifus here,

I am currently looking to get a wallet that could last me a few years (best if can go more than decade), but I am not sure how much such a wallet will cost.

I am not going to spend a lot on this. I wonder what's the toyota-equivalent brand (affordable for the superior quality) in wallet sector.

If you want longevity at lower cost, you need to look beyond mass-produced brands and to small makers. Decent leather. Hand saddle stitched.

I'm just curious guys, anyone ever used Arnold Palmer wallets?

Not sure if they're considered luxury or not. Saw a few at Paradigm Mall's outlet and quite reasonably priced, under RM100.

lots of pastel colours as opposed to the usual brown/black.

Wow, what is the price point for a Goyard. From the pic is the standard tote right? I heard started from $1k up.

The problem is when do custom, need to wait and to pick up. I also heard they dont do internet order, and defy internet marketing...

Yeap, 3 weeks minimum.

And yeap, low internet presence. You can customized the thing early from online and bring it to their stores.

Closest would be Singapore.

The St. Louis is about 850 Euroes, as mentioned by bro Maiself recently.

I have the St. Louis but in Green and not custom painted.

goyard's low presence not so low d... i see many PRC carrying it nowadays. but nice meh..... at first glance looks like 9gag's logo.

any safiano leather wallet owners here mind to share how you care and how often you clean your wallet? just had mine cleaned professionally and damn it felt so much better.

prior to that it was sticky and had all sort of stuff stuck to it. (mainly due to negligence as i often just leave it on the table when makan at mamak having food and drinks spill on it etc or just hold in in my sweaty hands during a hot day)

sadly the shop told me as safiano is genuine leather and it will soak up the oils and liquid eventho it is a treated leather (some of the dirts that got stuck onto my wallet's surface cannot be removed anymore)

Maybe Goyard copy 9gag logo, they used the time machine. For the patina, it tells story mate, imagine that you passed it to your grandchild and story him that the oil is due to lepaking at "mamak" with your grandma (which was hot back then), who knows in the future "mamak" might ceased to exist...Embrace it.

epic! they have a time machine to travel into the future to find out what's the meme of the century. thumbup.gif

didnt know that wallets can be a time capsule too. hmm.gif every dirt is a piece of history! biggrin.gif

btw in terms of bespoke.. do head to tokyo. in tokyo there were some bespoke leather shops which i went to one of them to have them make me one long wallet made with black safiano and pink internal plus pink threads. it costs a rather measly 40000 yen and collected at the end of my 11 days trip. surprisingly the quality is damn good. doesnt wear as fast as the original safiano which i used daily but sadly my choice of having ngam ngam card slots (7) at the time i ordered backfired. Now it's just being used to store foreign notes. Also it is totally brandless laugh.gif

I don't really use my stuff to look prestige, the stuff should serve me and not the other way round. However moderate care and up keep is important to prolong the longevity of the product.

The bespoke experience does require some homework to be done, ie the requirement of the slots, leather choice, thread used, any hardware, the rest are faith put on the craftsman. I just need a thinly crafted bifold with full shell cordovan, either Horween or Shinki, depends on availability.

Trying to approach OGL (singapore) and Nerb Hancraft (thai). Last time checked with Nerb, the full shell was RM1300, now i saw from their Ig, price has shoot up to RM2k but different design, much more modern and slim. A full shell sling bags its like RM14k.

Getting itch to get one already? Now i am more poisoned towards dress shoes (including polishing/maintaining) and maybe bespoke shirts and pants.

I have a Vuitton Long Wallet for use.

Won't say I use it quite often. I have to stab it inside my front pocket instead of back pocket.

Unless you have alternative / spare wallets to use, you should reconsider la.

Let me see.

2 ATM cards, 5~8 credit cards. 1 driving license, 1 NRIC.

Just about right?

Long wallet will prevent your cards from snapping too, compared to Bifolds. The main reason I use one coz I have shit loads of cards to carry around.

*
8 credit cards? No wonder.

Hey guys...just a quick question.
When I was in Japan a lot of guys used to use the long wallet, like the female style, and it seems quite common in Asia in general and quite fashionable for males.

Is anywhere else that fashion common? Am I the only one finding it strange?

Because a longer wallet does not snaps your Credit Cards into 2 pieces.

Depends on the wallet’s design.

I’ve snapped plenty of cards with bifold wallets.

Irregardless of brands.

Agree with this. I now bypass the issue by carrying my cards in a card wallet in my front pocket.

Do you think I should get a bi-fold wallet with coin purse or without coin purse? Will the coin purse make the wallet bulky?

I have recently switched to a billfold wallet after using the one with coin pocket for many years. At first, I felt a little bit uneasy as I was so used to storing my coins in the wallet but after a weeks I got accustomed to it. The coin pocket will definitely make the wallet bulkier and possibly damage the wallet faster. The only remedy is to carry a little coin pouch with you or just keep the coins in another of your pants' pocket.

Nobody ask you to baby the wallet.

But using some common sense does help to extend the wallet’s lifespan.

You can fill it up with coins if you want. But most people will just carry a coin pouch for coins if they really need to put coins in.

Would be a waste if you keep spending 2k for a wallet when you can spend it elsewhere instead.

You try stack 5-10 coins of different denominations in a confined space and you'll get a good idea? I'd recommend going without the coin purse....unless you are an exceptionally heavy user of coins. Otherwise you can just keep in your pocket.

Without coins the wallet retains its shape more easily, therefore it'll be better looking without all the dents and bumps. Will last longer too because it's better 'cared' for too.

It actually outlasted my daily LV wallet, if you are asking about quality.

Unsurprisingly thou.

I think their designs are average thou. Durability wise, quite good. I have a long wallet from my college days, still intact after I left it at some corner for almost 2 years. That's about a 6 years in total already.

Agreed on the quality of Braun buffel. I have one which I abused the heck out of (sit on it in the back pocket, with me at the gym etc) but still holding up really well after 5 yrs. It's been sitting in my drawer for the past 6 months but still looks good when I checked yesterday.

My uncle has on bb wallet that's about 20 yrs old according to him, but that one is really in bad shape because he stuffs in like crazy. Though there aren't any visible peeling/cracking of the leather.

Looks good, edge was nicely burnished. Color combination looks funky, also choice of thread is kinda busy looking for me.

what kind of leather?

I just wonder why there are cutouts on the sleeves of slots, for thickness reduction?

Yeah the edges are nice. The pictures don't do it justice really. Apparently too difficult to photograph (with just a smartphone).

Outside is green, pockets are chestnut. Thread is anthracite (black) and doe (beige) waxed linen thread.

Leather is Conceria Walpier Buttero. Italian veg-tanned.

I assume so yes, to reduce bulk. But I think it could have been assembled better.

I'll try. It's not mine, it's for a family member. I was just a 'consultant', coz I'm known as the family leather expert lol

Nah. I'd go with either Haas Barenia or Ilcea Radica.

the problem i find with most wallets, especially luxury branded one these days is that their leather is thick and unnecessarily bulky. when i put it in my pocket and sit down, i can always feel my butt being lopsided given the size of the wallet.

sure there are minimalist wallets but most on hand look cheap and feel very rigid.
has anyone tried bellroy out? i know its not luxury but their images on their website looks good and their features are very practical.

Maybe you are overloading your wallet? Would you be better served with a wallet and a separate cardholder? I carry notes, coins, IC and license in my wallet, then ALL my other cards in one of these in my front pocket:

Anyway, check this out for a nice minimalist design:

Simple card holder from a local maker. Full grain leather. Hand stitched with Victoria Blue linen thread. Hand painted edges.

Today walk around isetan parkson Robinsons, I'm so disappointed at the selection. Somore mostly selling that stupid Singapore gold lion brand.

Wanted to buy bellroy at first but after I touched it felt so plasticy and low quality. Hope I can find some ettinger
