Hey guys, anyone have a recommendation for me?

1. Preferred Brand: Any Brand
2. Budget: 2K - 2.5K
3. Usage: Programming, Photo Editing, Watch HD Movies
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 14'
5. Must have featured: 1080p resolution

*Is there a better laptop than Lenovo Y510 in terms of cost to performance ratio?
*
Get the Dell 7447 i5. Better than the Y510P. The graphic card alone is much ahead than the GT750M. icon_rolleyes.gif

hey guys, im looking for a all round gaming / multimedia laptop to bring for studies abroad.

budget is 3.5k max and maybe possible to topup like 100 or 200 more for extra ram (if it's 4gb)

currently looking at the asus gl552jx and still wondering if there's any better ones out there. preferably with broadwell and at least gtx 950m.

games : dota 2, crysis 2/3 , metro etc

thanks!
*
Very hard to get broadwell + GTX950M with your 3.5k budget. Go for the Asus ROG GL552JX. Specs wise only MSI GE60 can compete with the ROG. But GE60 has heating issue. biggrin.gif

How much is the option to add in the 1080p screen? Any shop having promo for this model?
*
You cannot upgrade the FHD feature on a certain model directly. It requires a different mother board. There is a model of 7447 that comes with FHD. But much more expensive than your current budget. biggrin.gif

Thanks for replying! I do understand that there is a quite a price difference between the standard resolution and the FHD but what I don't understand is that why they are using 860m but with 1366x768 resolution?  sweat.gif
Back to my laptop requirement. Do you have any other recommendation for me?
*
It comes with FHD and HD. Some people wanna get a good graphic card (GTX850M) but don't really care much about the screen. Because they say it is just 14" after all. So, sure got market one. sweat.gif

Photo editing requires a powerful processor if you do editing everyday, try to squeeze out more a bit for the Lenovo Z51-70. If cannot, opt for the U41-70. biggrin.gif

Lenovo Z51-70 80K600-6WMJ 15.6" Laptop/ Notebook (i7-5500U, 1TB, 4GB, AMD MESO XT, W8.1) RM2.8k/-
Lenovo U41-70 80JV0047MJ 14" Laptop/ Notebook (i5-5200U, 256GB SSD, 4GB, NV GT920M, W8.1) RM2.6k/-

But might not be sufficient if you do heavy photo editing. biggrin.gif

Sorry for noob question.
AMD MESO XT > GT920m?
I dont think there's an option to add in another HDD right? Like change the optical drive slot to a HDD slot.
*
Their performance is quite similar. Not much difference. biggrin.gif

I checked lenovo z51 and apparently most lenovo laptop have this 'matte' @ dull kind of screen which I don't think will work well for photo editing. I checked a review about this z51 and it have below average color score.

Do you have any other recommendation?

Think of more towards Mac book screen but not a mac book and not that expensive (within my requirement)

Hope you guys can help. Appreciate it

With your current budget, very unlikely to get a notebook with the best "bang-for-buck" or best performance for the price. Unless you are willing to increase your budget. biggrin.gif

Hello all! Would appreciate your recommendations :-

1. Preferred Brand: Any good quality model with good customer service
2. Budget: RM 2,000
3. Usage: Browsing, word processing, videos & music
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 15"+

Just a basic laptop for my parents, larger screen size preferred. Not too concerned about weight since laptop will only be used within the house.

Thanks in advance!

1. Preferred Brand : Any good brands

2. Budget : RM 10,000.00

3. Usage : Not so sure about the usage requirements, but the specific requirements are:
-RAM up to 16GB
-Good graphic card (equivalent to GTX Mobile version maybe?)
->500GB SSD (Only want SSD in the laptop for storage purposes, don't want HDD)
-Lightweight (Though I think it is quite hard to get a lightweight with high spec laptop)
-Touchscreen (Not really required, added value)

4. Preferred laptop/screen size : Not really big due to the requirement of lightweight.

Please give some suggestions so that I can review them, thanks!

Hey bro, I looked at Dell website. I can't choose upgraded processor, graphic card or the storage drive. Is it because the only XPS available in Malaysia is the one stated in http://www.dell.com/my/p/xps-15-9530/pd?oc=w510338myw8?
Hey bro, thanks for the suggestion. But, I don't think the user is interested in gaming laptops.
Nah wasn't playing. Was serious bro.
Gigabyte / Illegear eh. I'll have a look bro. Thanks for suggestion.
