1. Prefered brand: Asus,Lenovo,Dell
2. Budget: 2500-3500
3. Usage: College student. csgo, dota 2(just want smooth with like fps higher than 90) movie+music.
4. Preferred laptop/screen size:15" full hd 1920x1080
5. Specs prefered:
i5-i7 ? not quite sure but as long its good for gaming then im fine with it.
Not easily get overheat. My current laptop having the problem of overheat
*
If you can top up another RM100, get the Asus ROG. The price is around 3.6k. It has every single specs that you want. 15.6" FHD screen, i7 quad core, no overheating issues, and GTX950M can go max settings in D2 and CSGO. biggrin.gif

er, maybe medium setting for the game tho. not the maximum graphic settings. Im having like 30fps with minimum graphic setting for my csgo and its a pain to play
*
D2 eats up quite some ram. Do upgrade ram to 8GB to maximize the performance of your laptop. biggrin.gif

Hi guys, it's been long time since I've update myself with new mobile notebooks. I would like to find a 2-in-1 detachable table-PC. Specs as below:

1. Prefered brand: Any
2. Budget: < RM2k
3. Usage: Web-browsing and video playback
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: < 14"
5. Specs prefered: 4GB RAM
*
For 14" you probably need to add about less than RM100 for Lenovo Yoga.
Lenovo YOGA 500-14 80N500-1SMJ Laptop/ Notebook (i3-4030U, 500GB, 4GB, N16V-GM, W8.1)

Most of the 2 in 1 are about 11.6" within 2k budget. biggrin.gif
Dell Inspiron 11 2-in-1 3157T-0545SG-W10 11.6" Laptop/ Notebook (N3050, 4GB, 500GB, Intel, W10H)
HP Pavilion x360 Convertible 11-k108TU 11.6" Laptop/ Notebook (N3700, 500GB, 4GB, Intel, W10H)

Saving money for future gaming laptop huh? Go for ROG. But it is slightly over 3.5k. Should be less than 3.6k. biggrin.gif

1. Preferable brand : Ultrabook
2. Budget : Less than RM5k
3. Usage : mainly watching movies, non CPU intensive work
4. Screen size : about 13inch
5. Additional : throw in MS. Offices etc, Windows
6. Must be ultrabook : thin and light
*
With such a high budget, you can have lotsa choices already. biggrin.gif

If you wanna go Dell, go for the XPS 13. FHD and 1.26kg only.
Dell XPS13-2041SG-W10 13.3" Laptop/ Notebook (i5-6200U, 4GB, 128GB SSD, Intel, W10H) RM5k/-

If you wanna go for a cheaper laptop with 256GB SSD but slightly weaker processor, Asus UX305 is a way to go. FHD and 1.2kg only. biggrin.gif
Asus ZENBOOK UX305FA-FC200H 13.3" Laptop/ Notebook (M-5Y71, 8GB, 256GB SSD, Integrated, W8.1) RM3.6k/-

If you think FHD is not good enough for movie, go for HP for QHD. It comes with a more powerful processor but at the same time, lower battery life. biggrin.gif
HP ENVY 13-d045TU 13.3" Laptop/ Notebook (i7-6500U, 8GB, 256GB, Intel, W10H) RM4.6k/-

But if you are watching movies with laptop speakers and not a dedicated headset, you can pretty much ignore Asus. The speaker is not good, for at least Dell and HP are powered by Waves MaxxAudio® Pro and Bang & Olufsen respectively. Hope this helps. biggrin.gif

budget rm2k laptop for uni use

1. Preferred Brand: No preference. Asus, Dell

2. Budget: Below RM2k

3. Usage: Internet surfing , doing assignments

4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 14 inches at least

prefer a lighter laptop

Thank you.

Perhaps you can consider to top up a bit for an i5 that comes with an OS. Uni student always have tons of assignments and hence, getting an i5 is more reliable in this case. Perhaps you can consider this one? Hope this helps a bit. biggrin.gif

You can have lotsa stock laptops choices with these requirements fulfilled, but do you have any specific budget? If no, these are the following that you can consider. A bit pricey to me though. thumbup.gif

1. Dell XPS13-2082SG-W10 13.3" Laptop/ Notebook (i5-6200U, 8GB, 256GB SSD, Intel, W10H) RM6.5k/-
2. Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 20BTA007MY 14" Laptop/ Notebook (i5-5200U, 256GB SSD, 8GB, Intel, W7P/ W8.1P)
RM6k/-
3. Toshiba Portege Z30-B133 13.3" Laptop/ Notebook (i5-5200U, 8GB, 256GB SSD, Intel, W8.1P) RM7k/-
4. Toshiba Portege Z30-B100 13.3" Laptop/ Notebook (i5-5200U, 8GB, 256GB SSD, Intel, W8.1P/W7P) RM6.9k/-

why ignore the lenovo. is it heating issue??
btw, saw a deal in lelong. rm3599- i7, 16gb ram, 1tb+8gb hybrid harddisk, gtx 960 4gb... sound attractive
*
It's not so wise to buy a laptop solely by comparing their specs. Although most Lenovo laptops come with JBL speakers and a very comfortable keyboard, it has drawbacks. Things like battery life, heating issues, design, aftersales service and etc have to be considered as well. icon_idea.gif

This Y50-70 only has around 3 hours battery life with the wifi on. If you do gaming with the battery attached, you might get less than 2 hours only. Even though I am a Lenovo user, I have to stress on that the aftersales service is terrible. But if you are lucky to not get a lemon product, you are totally away from this problem. biggrin.gif

Y50-70 does not have any overheating issues as far as I know. But I may be wrong. laugh.gif
Try to avoid this model since you can have better choices such as the Dell 7559 and the Acer VN Nitro. biggrin.gif

I have few choices

Acer Aspire V13 i5-6200u/8GB/500GB/HD (rm2499)
Dell Inspiron 13 7000 i5-6200u/4GB/500GB/HD (rm3199)
Asus UX305 Core-M5Y10/8GB/256SSD/FHD (rm2999)
Lenovo U41-70 i5-5200u/4GB/256SSD/FHD (rm2649)
HP Envy 13 i5-6200u/4GB/128SSD/QHD (rm3699- out of busget actually)

For office work/SPSS/PhD works/no games
Need long battery life and reliable (to keep PhD stuff)

Which  one is more worthy? budget around rm3000-ish
will buy on 1/1/2016 (due to LHDN laptop rm3000 tax relief)

currently using MBA13 (2012) and Acer S7-391. both already 3 yrs old

TQ

Look no further than the UX305. SSD, 8GB RAM and long battery life will come in handy for your PhD work. More than 9 hours battery life. Since you don't do gaming, this will be one of your best work companion. biggrin.gif
