Hi guys,

About to make a purchase for a Preve CFE.
My wife and I needed a new car. We thought our current saga was quite unsafe. The economic weather didn't look all that great to buy an expensive car as well.

We didn't expect much when we went to the showroom for a test drive.
But the salesperson was very patient and good to us. We actually tested Iris and Preve CFE like 6 times.
Story short, I am pretty amazed and proud of where Proton is going towards. It might look cliched but I felt a sense of pride when we finally decided to buy a Proton.

I would like to ask the forum's opinion on adding a reverse camera for the car, should I buy the one the showroom suggested (RM450)? or is there a cheaper way to add a camera and still keep the warranty for everything installed on the car?

Also, we are getting the CFE because we heard that the IAFM+ feels underpowered.
Would it be better to get the IAFM one if we wanted a quieter car?
Is there an alternative to adding a reverse camera on the IAFM+ Preve without spending too much as well?

Thank you.
*
if CFE, just need spend another 250~300 for adding reverse camera on your original HU. If IAFM+, either change whole HU which is expensive, or adding external view monitor on rear view mirror or whole external unit.. Range around rm200. I would recommend for the turbo version if you are afford it. showroom/proton will not help u to add reverse camera one, most likely is your SA help you to install at outside vendor.. If u lazy to find the accessories then let him settle everything for you..

For those whos looking for a faster and cheaper promotion for proton, should head down to Taman mayang in Petaling jaya... Btw, guys, anyone encounter such problem and manage to solved it by ownself, problem that i am facing now, was the damn power window, in which supposed to auto shut when u pull up the window trigger button, but it is not fully winded up, and infact, in order for you to make it shut, u actually have to like pull up the trigger a few times just so it is properly shut...I know that this is due to the sensitivity of the power window as to it has the anti trap fuction..to be honest, i think i actaully did manage to main tikam and fixed it before, but...somehow or rather, i have tried every posible ways but still...it's getting freaking annoying... with the current haze...gosh! Any idea on this matter? I did a few searched on lyn forums but...it was somehow or rather discontinued and i couldn't find the answer for it, any bros (or sis) are willing to share how you guys solve it...(if you encounter such case, i believe you will be as a annoyed as me)...so please care to share the help if possbile... thanks all.
*
one simple method to wind up the window if you face the issue of power window that trigger anti trap.

the button to wind up the window, there are 2 stage.. 1st stage, pull lighter will manual pull up.. 2nd stage, pull up all the way, will trigger window auto wind up until it stop (but this will trigger anti trap if something blocking)..

so your case will be pull 2nd stage, even there is nothing, but trigger anti trap.. so to counter it, just pull lightly with 1st stage.. i faced once before after i got my car.. but until now no more..

I was about to make the exact reply yesterday.
I also discovered there are two stages of power windows pull switch after I have such anti-trap problem.
*
i found it is really annoying.. cause i cant close my window in previous.. then i calm down and try the first stage pull.. wont trigger anti trap.. turn off and on engine again, try wind down and up window again.. no more problem.. haha.. until now, didnt trigger fake anti trap issue already..

I was thinking along the same lines too even though I have not driven the Suprima or cars which come with the new VT3+. Although the car may be quieter, I don't expect it to be a lot quieter than cars which come with the older VT3. The sound or roar from the engine during acceleration.
*
my preve 2014 come with VT3+.

how to know whether it is VT3 or VT3+?
my preve CFE is 2014 manufacture.
*
another way, open engine bay, go capture a photo with your gearbox tag.. VT3+ is in blue colour, while VT3 and VT2 in red colour..

i guess so.. easy to determine.. just take your phone and enter the engine bay.. nearby fusebox.. go down and take video or photos.. see any badge tag with blue or red colour.. Blue are Vt3+.. this is what i heard from other people sharing.. so far i know is for premium version only..

recently, when drive 110 above
my steering slightly vibrate,
not as worse like when 1st time receive car, where they have to replace brake disc.
why eh?

i recently change both back tyres, did not did any alignment, is it the reason?
*
how many mileage of your tyres? Got do balancing?

probably few root cause:
1. balancing
2. tyres (after do balancing and still slightly vibrate, meaning your tyres not so good already.) tyre might uneven surface. mine 30k go do balancing, tyre shop show how uneven of my tyres.. stock tyre GT Radial really not so good.. 40k time i would change all to Michelin PS3 or P3ST..

alignment should not be the case..

front tyres almost 40k
rear tyres new

few months back when i switch back to front, front to back,
i did balancing n alignment
although they use inspira setting, not preve

then last month i change rear tyres to new one, they did balancing
if steering vibrate probably front tyre the culprit right?
*
erm.. front is old tyres.. i think that's the reason why it vibrate.. my stock GT radial 30k ady got uneven surface issue.. so i just leave it at the back.. front still ok.. so cant do rotation anymore to avoid vibration..

i may suggest put at rear or else just change new tyres.. personally will change 4 tyres when mine reach 40k.. for your case, temporary do rotate from front to rear first and see..

Hi, I'm planning to buy the Preve Turbo as my new car. Is it a reliable one? Or will it give me a lot of headache as in maintenance wise? Cause I really like its design and specs. Thanks.
*
I bought preve turbo in year 2014 july.. until now, no problem to me with mileage 30k+.. i would say good deal for me.. as long as u dont care second value.

hello all,

im picking up my new preve sometime next week. have been reading this forum for the last few pages and of course the OP. very informative, kudos to all of u. glad i'll be part of this helpful community, if permitted of course.

any plan for TT during deepavali holiday? would be good to have hands on learning from some of the otais here.

im planning to add full leather seat installed by proton panel for 2.8k. is it worth it or should i just stick to existing fabric?

also fyi, have been driving 2008 savvy amt for couple of years now. a very fun car but reliability is a bit on the low side. time to get a new reliable horse.

cheers! salam.
*
leather seat or fabric depend on user.. i will prefer fabric.. due to hot weather.. leather definitely will absorb heat during daytime.. although my company do have multistorey car park, but if park under hot sun, my butt cant tahan..

Dear Sifu,
If I put at gear N or P.  I just hard press the petrol paddle on max, what I noticed was the rpm meter just go up to max ~3.5.  May I know is this just normal? Thx in advance. Btw I had nvr tried before during drive mode :-)
*
you want RPM go up to redline? rclxms.gif

just to protect your engine and gearbox i guess.. you may test your top speed in somewhere very straight road.. see your RPM whether can over 3.5k rpm..

Thx all. Not really need the higher rpm reading. Just want to make sure this is normal and won't affected during necessary  accelating while driving.  Thx again :-)
*
normally 2k rpm around 90~100km/h.. 2.5k = 110km~120km.. after that should be 0.5k rpm to go up 10km/h.. seldom drive fast.. so not really know about that..

i drive 90~100km/h most of time just in rpm 2k where turbo just kick in..

Question

  hmm.gif  hmm.gif

1) Is the security tint on CFE good enough?
I'm receiving my CFE next week, if it is not a good one, i'm going to change it to a better one.

2) Does anyone know the contact person for PREVEC and PREVOC registration?
*
1, good.. tint by EcoTint. not that hot on side.. but u may consider to have tint on front and rear windscreen..
2. u may join their facebook but not necessary to register.. unless u really want to pay annualfee

1. Thanks for the info.

2. how much is the annual fee?
*
im not sure how much for annual fee/membership fee probably (50~1xx).. cause i joined there just to see other owners review before i purchased my car.. and also to see any reported problem and monitor only.. while they got any issue, so i will check on my car as well.. but luckily, the preve i bought is no problem.. except 2 things..

1. new car 1st week got disc brake sounds.. (change disc rotor when 1000km service)
2. past few months (my oil tank cover hardly to open sometimes (due to cover alighment things, readjust it and now feel better) - got experience that cant open by myself and figure out to open it in petrol station for few minutes..

if you are from KL then maybe u can join group there and know some friends.. but im from penang.. self DIY and syok sendiri will do.. no hardcore mod for my car.. normal use.. DIY also paste some preference stickers like that only..

Anyone know how to fix the wind noise at the rear left side. From faq, seem like it's c pillar rubber lining issue? it isn't a quick fix from sc?

Wind noise with windscreens, the fault is usually with the rubber lining around the windscreen. When I had the Nissan Sylphy, the mechanic rectified the wind noise with the rubber lining by inserting small pieces of rubber into areas where the lining had gaps that may have caused the wind sound (the shape of the rubber lining may have deformed due to bad batch of rubber or something else). No more wind sound after that. In my case the windscreen was at the driver's side.

Not sure if the Proton guys will "take the trouble" to rectify the wind sound for you. The last visit to the SC where I have bad rattling sound from the doors on the left side (either the front or rear), they claimed they have "tightened" something but in the end, it's still the same. Rattling sound is still there. I think they have not done anything to my complaint.
*
guess so.. i dont really notice about it cause i was listened to FM radio normally. until i fetch my friend from penang to ipoh and they told me.. other than that, all are okay for my car.. next monday maybe will go to service centre..

Planning to install dual cameras for my Preve.

AA
Like Novatek dual camera. Any one here with good experience with Novatek?

BB
Need to drill a hole at the back for the rear camera? Appreciate those who have installed to show a photo of your installation. Like to know how to install the rear camera.

Thanks.

P/S  Tried to visualise the mirror-camera in the car. Noted that the black cover on the windscreen for the wiper rain detection may be blocking the camera's view. Anyone has installed such camera and your way around this? Thanks.
*
If dvr, try look for novatek 96650 which support wdr instead of 96620.. 96650 Normally above rm250..
