yeah, i agree, that's why was considering, is it really goo choice to upgrade to preve or just stick with saga blm, are u happy that you upgrade to preve?
*
i would prefer you go for new persona oo.. currently im driving preve turbo.. but since u comparing preve exec, so i might worry it is not sufficient for you.. the power is not that good as turbo version.. persona is quite refine for me although engine still roaring.. but the features in new persona is more up-to-date..

anyways, you should go and have test drive all the models that within your budget.. you may test for few times to confirm that.. as long as you meet some nice SA.

What's the S mode for a? I've been driving my preve for a few years but never used before haha
*
S mode mean sport mode. it made the CVT react as more aggressive.. stay at higher rpm like around 3k most of the time..

So is it good for high speed or low speed? When shld i use it?
*
recommend to use whenever you going to uphill that need aggressive cvt response.. it will give you more powerful reaction from cvt..

but it's not recommend to use in high speed.. for my own opinion, it's okay to use when you need it until speed 80km/h.

Hi guys. I'm sorry if this has been asked before as I did search for it in previous version of the thread but couldn't find the answer.

Here it goes:

1. Wind noise above 90kmh via the small window on the rear left passenger door. Reported it during the 1k km service and the mechanic adjusted the window and adjusted the door as per written on my bill. Unfortunately it's still there. I can just make another appointment and send my car therw again which is what I'm going to do, i just want to kno has anyone found the exact location of the culprit ?

2. Has anyone done any installation of the aftermarket grounding cable ? Do you have pictures of your engine bay and where was it done? Interested of installing on my car with a good workmanship and proper cable routing.

Other than that, still enjoying trashing my Dec'16 Preve Manual through the bends especially. brows.gif smile.gif
*
if you are dare, just fix the problem yourself by using super glue. but before that, buy some play doh/ something alike playdoh to stick in each corner of small window.. if really no sound anymore.. use super glue to glue up each corner at the edge of rubber seal there.. some might get fixed by proton sc but some are not.. i get rubber seal replaced but still cannot, so i use super glue it up by myself.. settled..

My Preve Turbo is 2.5 yrs old now. After picking up my kid from school, the fan kept on running, non stop even after 20 mins. Yes, fan will run for 1-2 mins to cool down if turbo is engaged.

Went to SC and they said fan rosak. Now waiting for a replacement.

Like to know whether there are other similar fan problem with Preve. Common design problem or just my car?

Thanks.
*
saw this in the past.. but not in my car yet.. i forgot already what happened and what have been replaced for this case.. it did happened

UPDATED: oh yeah.. found the post in fb group.. fan relay or fuse. they mentioned rm106 for 2 relay for mid and high speed.

Many thanks.

I am not an electrical person but I do wonder how replacing the fan will help in my non stop fan problem. A fan will run when there is a current through it. So most likely it is the relay which has failed to stuck on (if this is the right terminology).

Now waiting for the new fan to arrive.

Hope that the fan will not stay on 24/7 and rosak my new battery!
*
Yes. Change fan will not help. Relay is the culprit. Nvm. Let's observe and see. U may flag this out to proton SC..

guys,

why when i Rev around 4K-6K rpm..
my air con started to smell the exhaust.
first thought, (air circulation was off) but it stayed on

did a couple run at that particular RPM, still smell the exhaust
i did change Factory exhaust to double tailpipes. (catback exhaust)
2 months being using it, then suddenly started to smell exhaust in the car when rev it at that RPM.

how is it possible??

Preve CFE 2014.
*
it isnt tyre smell?

QUOTE(SportyHandling @ Feb 20 2017, 05:00 PM)
No fan problem or smell from air-cond yet (touch wood). However, I have had a minor problem which occurred two times. It was bits and pieces of sponge leaking out from somewhere which I suspected were from air-cond vents. The first time was about 2 years ago when I spotted a lot of small pieces of sponges, yellow in colour at the bottom of the driver's seat. Just earlier this year, there were some small pieces of these sponges on the dashboard and air-cond vents when I switched the air-cond to blow at the feet area. Not too sure where the sponges came though but they are slowly but surely leaking out into the car.

Has anybody spotted any loose small pieces of sponge anywhere in the car?
*
saw this before in fb group or somewhere.. it's from aircond inside.. nothing damage actually but it annoying.. so far my car still havent found this kind of sponge yet..

It's not tyre smell
Because the smell came from Aircon
Especially when i rev higher than 4K rpm

P.S : it happen after i did my Aircon service with SC
*
it's happened to me before when my car is new.. now dont have this kind of smell already.. probably i dont really drive fast.. when the car was new, i did drive up to 190km/h.. it did have some smell from aircond.. im not sure what caused this.

Driving experience. Put it this way, Inspira is 'raw', Preve is composed.

At traffic light, with Inspira you can just get ahead most cars, but in Preve, it's fun to see other cars go ahead of you, only for you to overtake them once the turbo has spooled in biggrin.gif
*
haha true.. both stock inspira vs preve turbo.. initial steps inspira accelerate and ahead of preve.. when turbo kick in, preve can catch up and overtake.. but this is only apply before 140km/h.. if long run, i believe inspira can overtake preve.. tested fun run with my friend inspira..

but recently, a lot of turbo or high HP car on the road.. my preve always drive to left lane.. PETROL MAHAL cry.gif

QUOTE(SportyHandling @ Mar 11 2017, 08:48 AM)
For acceleration closer to the top speed range, the horsepower is more important than torque. For this reason the Preve Turbo's acceleration at higher speed will lose out to most 2.0-litre cars with higher horsepower due to the low horsepower (138hp). I believe the Inspira 2.0 horsepower would be higher than the Preve Turbo.

For acceleration at low speed, the Preve Turbo will be good mainly in the usable range ie. 0- 120 km/h. And yes, the acceleration of the Preve Turbo will is only good from about 50 km/h (where the turbo starts to kick in) to 140 or 150 km/h. After this speed the acceleration to higher speed will be compromised as the car will struggle to achieve a higher top speed due to the low horsepower. The acceleration from 150 km/h to 200 km/h is poor and for this reason, it is not worth it to push the Preve Turbo above 150 km/h.

Nowadays with many cars not only on city roads but the highways, driving at speeds in the usable range ie. below 120 km/h is the sensible choice. Coupled by high petrol price, it's good to keep the RPM in the range of 2,000 to 2,500 which is the optimal range for good fuel efficiency. Though some may enjoy fuel allowance benefits from companies and thus may not be affected by the petrol price hike too much.
*
Yeah.. horsepower is the main thing for top speed.. turbo in Preve is more focus on car acceleration and fuel efficiency. Not really aim for fast speed.. I always cruising at 100/110km/h whenever got chance. my fuel consumption is good. I drive in Penang island and Penang mainland. Still managed to get 450km+ each tank..

Cruising speed between 80 to 110 km/h is a good optimal speed for the Preve Turbo in promoting fuel efficiency. I usually drive at around 90 to 100 km/h when on the highways and the fuel economy is good at this speed. Above 110 km/h the fuel consumption will be worse. Keeping the speed below 110 km/h on the Preve Turbo will be good, 90 to 100 km/h will be even better.
*
Agreed.. 90 -100km/h is good. So far no prob for my unit. 2014 July car.

Just maintenance fees not so cheap. 60k major service cost me 1.2k.. tyres with Michelin primacy 3st cost nearly 1.6k.

The cost is standard throughout the authorized SCs, it's just that one SC may suggest and promote additional service on top of the endorsed ones by Proton HQ. Furthermore, those differences might be contributed by services done before and after GST implementation.
*
Engine oil type might contribute the major one. Also, alignment and balancing services.

QUOTE(SportyHandling @ Mar 12 2017, 12:28 PM)
That is weird though as I had asked the service adviser to exclude all unnecessary (additional) services for the 60,000 km service previously. Perhaps there must be something else I do not know.

With some cars such as the Ford Focus, the 6 services come free of charge during the purchase of the new car. For the Proton, the first 6 services would have cost about RM3,000 which adds up a bit to the price of the car. Something to consider.
*
Yes there are some items may excluded like windscreen washer, bacteria killer and etc.. depending on users.. also depend on which type of engine oil. Personally using semi syn for my preve turbo. So I guess this is the difference between my 1.2k and your 1.4k..

70k yes minor service but 80k is timing belt service time. With engine oil and others I guess need to spend 1k as well.

some people told me have to change a pair instead of 1 by 1.. so this time i change a pair of bulb.. i did use HID as well.. burned also.. mostly HID will have problem with ballast instead of bulb itself.. haha

probably need to do with LED?! since halogen and hid is quite sensitive with moisture.. sometime when we install the bulb, might accidentally touch some thing on the glass surface.. LED should be dont have this issue..

It's coherently a design flaw in the electrical or wiring system, when I installed the bulbs I always wore gloves.

haha.. i guess we already become expert in changing bulb.. LOL.. somemore have to align nicely for the bulb to ensure have a perfect light output..

Hi, my current tyre size on my car now is fitted with 205/55R16. The picture here says that I can fit 215/45R17 on my current rim? Or do I need to change 17 inch rim in order to fit the 215/45R17?
