I'm looking for half-body wetsuit with long sleeve, diving boots and glove, entry level will do. Any idea? Thanks.

can try rainbow runners. I would KIV on the gloves. Not many places would support people wearing gloves.

Any particular reason go for Anti-gravity DC instead of other top DC in Koh Lanta such as Dive& Relax?
I mean, some of them received good reviews in Tripadvisor as compared with Anti-gravity DC.
or you would advice us to follow back the same instructor?
*
i dont look at tripadvisor much tongue.gif

if you enjoyed your OW course then yes, i would advise going with the same instructor. After all, the instructor matters more than which DC.

Turtle Bay DC for OW. Apparently this dive center only open from March to October.
*
Oh, I took the OW from them too at July. Damn, no more dive trips after that. Need to brush up with more fun dives.

Half body long sleeves - can go for IST, Adrenaline or Gull. Or if you got the budget to spend - Sharkskin.
Diving boots - almost every dive shop got sell.
Glove - people hardly use it and some places don't encourage divers to wear gloves cause divers with gloves usually touch every damn thing since they are not afraid of stings/cuts anymore.

Have you check the first page for list of dive shops in klang valley yet?

Yea You are right, instructor matter more than the DC.
However the price for OW Advance in Anti-Gravity is RM1.3k vs RM950 max in Malaysia...
Well, need to save more money now!!

I bought a rash guard before my OW. Thinking of getting mask, regretted didn't buy any during the last MIDE. I saw MIDE few of my friends bought from Rainbow runners.

You going AOW straight after this? Any dive prior to that? My diving buddy turns out don't really fancy diving, so I guess I'm stuck on my own. cry.gif

Who's your instructor in TBD?

Just to let you guys know, I was told that next month onwards, almost all the dive shops will increase their prices, by 15% or so. Because the suppliers are increasing the prices due to our awesome currency.

I think RM950 does not include it.

Guys, can PADI RDP be used with nitrox/oxygen exposure tables of other agencies? I prefer planning my dives manually so it's quite important that I can estimate how conservative those tables are compared to padi's..

Why not? Just treat them as independent tables, plan N times for every dive, and compare. Dont feedback output of one table to another of course.

You should also get a dive computer with PC interface and run some deco algorithms on them so that you can see how conservative the PADI RDP is when you are on a real world dive profile, ie not a square profile.

Need some advice here regarding on which place to go for PADI OW advance course.

Me and my friends got PADI OW certification this year July in one of the dive center in Perhentian and planning to get OW advance course by 2016 January.

Our original plan was stick to the same instructor however this instructor will be in Koh Lanta till Feb/March.
Issue now is the Koh Lanta package is slightly costly (approximate RM2k included accommodation, transportation and food & beverages on the boat, exclude flight ticket) and this will be our very first time to the island.

Hence would like to seek advice from you all :

Anyone got diving license in Koh Lanta before?
What is your experience as compare with getting in Peninsular Malaysia and which dive center you went?

Thanks in advance!

Dear Carmen,

Apart from having an instructor you are comfortable with, the most important factor when it comes to taking AOW is the types of diving available at the area u are taking the course.

You are required to take Navigation + Deep dive and 3 electives which you may choose from. Make sure the 3 electives that you have chosen can be provided by the dive centre. For example, Dive centres at Mabul island are not allowed to conduct night dive by ESSCOM, Dive centres that does not have DPV will not be able to provide such a dive and places that doesn't have a wreck will not certify you with this type of diving.

Check with your instructor at Koh Lanta or any other DC that you will be diving with.

RM1.3k in Anti Gravity Koh-LAnta doesn't include accommodation, its only the course fees.
Which means there will be RM400 different between taking the PADI course (ONLY) in Malaysia and Thailand.
Accommodation and transportation need to calculate separately.

Any experience diving in Koh Lanta before? what is the price range for food?

Looking for Dry bag AKA waterproof bag for diving. any brand to recommend? most of the dry bag that i saw online are from safebeat and hypergear, the most popular dry bag brand globally is adventure lion, does the brand play an important rule? or it doesnt really affect much on the quality?
