Yup, price from Newegg is USD174 (170+4 shipping) , which will equal MYR724, plus 6% GST is MYR767 . Asus Malaysia price with free thumb drive is MYR879 , 112 ringgit difference.

Seems the GTX950 dont have free game . Kind of expected seeing it is a budget card.  biggrin.gif

Designwise the EVGA one looks quite premium . Might get  one from Amazon  drool.gif
*
You all understand that prices on US webstores does not include state tax and shipping charges right? Different states, different tax percentage. USD174 in NY is actually $196, 13% tax.

Dell just announced their first G-sync monitor: S2716DG.
1440p, 144hz, G-sync and ULMB.

At first I was like awhhh yissss!! Then, I found out it's a TN panel. Fudge. doh.gif

/waitingcontinues

*EDIT*
Yes, I know the TN panels on these sets will be of the highest of end panels. And yes I know IPS has its own set of issues too, backlight bleed and IPS glow are notorious on them. But damn, having used IPS for several years now, it is difficult to go back down to a different color gamut. It's just weird not being able to tell gradients apart, something which even the best TN panels cannot cope with.

Good that the Asus PG279Q now has a definite release in Nov. Too bad they didn't go with a different panel and stuck with the same one as the Acer XB270HU, I expected better considering the delay. Darn it.

Not without extensive modding, the answer is no.

when will the pg279q be in malaysia? and how much would it cost? heard its going to be around 1k+USD
*
$899 USD is MSRP. But people are buying for $950 now. Here? Expect at the very least, RM3.5k not including the fact that our ringgit will bomb down further.

That said, early reports are not convincing, QC wise. As expected, because it uses the same panel as the Acer XB27HU the PG279Q are already facing less than optimum panels. Dirt sandwich in between the anti-glare sheet, dead pixels, bad to terrible bad light bleed, scratches on the screen and so on.

And no, this problem isn't a minority. The people who buy these type of monitors are already a minority, the fact that it costs a kidney and not being damn near perfect QC wise, that's a damn shame. It's still early days, let's see 2 months down the road and if the problems continue to crop up.

Nvidia is planning to lock down "Game-Ready" drivers to GFE sometime in mid-December. You will need a verified email add + install GFE and have it running compulsory to get driver updates.

Screw off nvidia. Go dai in a pit wet shit fire plis.

Hurm, no offence but I dont find GFE+verified email is bad thing. Already use GFE for 6 month, never crash. Email?I thing everyone have that  wink.gif
*
Not about it being bad or not. There are people who just don't want to use GFE, period. Why must a driver be tied behind a software wall? Free or not, like I said, it's about choice.

For me personally, I just don't like unnecessary bloatware. Guess what? GFE is an unnecessary piece of software.

QUOTE(marfccy @ Oct 17 2015, 08:34 PM)
as much as i have no feelings towards GFE, i still find this move irritating

theyre essentially forcing people to use their software. its not exactly all rose and daisies on using GFE to update drivers too, i still get the occasional stuck at "downloading" even after finished 3 hours ago
*
Pretty much. I find no point in using GFE, ever. I always like tweak .ini files to maximise IQ, instead of relying on in-game settings which in recent years has been atrocious.

i have GFE installed cause i like Shadowplay, but otherwise it looks like a beta version atm, some of their features arent working as well as it should

EDIT: but you have to look from the other side though, Nvidia's optimisation would meant easier for people to set graphical settings, esp those mainstream ones who wants something like a console experience. where they just want to game, not tweak around

though, tweaking around is enjoyable too. i enjoy it as much as playing the game hmm.gif
*
I completely understand. Which is why GFE should be entirely optional and those who has a use for it, then that'd be great.

But why must it be forced upon everyone? I mean, like I said, I don't use shadowplay, I don't care about pre-set settings because I like to do my own stuff and you know, Nvidia's game ready drivers this year has been pretty shitty to say the least of which I'd like to cherry pick the best set and go from there.

Agreed. I dont like things to set it up for me. Every enthusiasts knows this, for newbies it might be alright but forcing everyone to do it? Bad move nvidia.

I find it funny that someone just simply said 'everyone got an email' regarding the email subscription. Its simply missing the point laugh.gif

Anyhow whatever stupid things nvidia do, someone will put the downloaded driver from GFE and uploaded it online, with modded INF to support every card to date so its a non issue.
*
Yeah. It's just another extra time-wasting step now to first extract each new driver available from GFE. sweat.gif

Dont take Gaming 6G coz their board is very good. But the cooler is meh.
Reference cooler will throttle to much. FYI GTX 980 ti will throttle at 65-67c,75c and 84c
Take either palit, zotac or gigabyte G1(recommended)
*
Remove the throttling by bios modding, issue solved. All Maxwell cards throttle, nothing to do with brand.

Err you just said:

You are recommending other brands because of their coolers, isn't it?

And the temps are safe thresholds. People bios mod to remove the throttling at ~60c and ~70c, but leave the 83c threshold there. Nvidia purposefuly did this.
Since when was ~75c dangerous?

The MSI Gaming cooler is perfectly adequate to keep a 980Ti under ~75c.

I got free C2Q Q9450 system but no GPU..

any nvidia previous series that will not majorly bottleneck by the cpu? slight bottleneck is ok.

plan to grab 750ti 2GB..after digging, the cpu will hold back the 750ti gpu performance.

will oc the cpu to 3ghz++

I need CUDA for my work ..so, I choose nvidia.
*
Uhm to be quite honest, anything from Kepler and up (6xx and 7xx, excluding 750Ti) will bottleneck that CPU. But the real question is, what work are you doing in the first place? The bottleneck may not be as crucial as you think.

so, 750ti is ok?

for work, I'm dealing with adobe softwares, regardless what CUDA card, all is ok.. no bottleneck here.

just concern about gaming bottleneck. now I am playing gtaV, MKX, Tera, CSgo, HoTS, Fifa on my gtx960m lappy.
960m is quite decent for these games. I'm ok if can bring quite similar gaming experience to the Q9450 system.

I have 1920x1080 display to pair with.
*
At 1080p, the GPU becomes the bottleneck with the 750Ti.
The 750Ti is just a slight bit faster than the 960m, it can pull ahead slightly more with some OCing.

So yeah, if you're looking at locked 30fps gameplay for GTAV, the 750Ti does okay on that.

Hello guys, i'm here to report that Fallout 4 can use ultra setting 1080p with GTX 970. Rig specs as per my siggy. So for those who wonders how Fallout 4 gonna performs. Graphic wise, better than new vegas, but not so realistic.

Test done with recent driver update.
*
Sure.

Please play until you reach Lexington and the later part of Diamond City, then report back. I guarantee you won't hold 60fps solid at ultra settings.

Yes, i wont expect solid 60fps, just saying that it's capable to handle ultra settings in 1080p. Pretty much need to tone down the AA.
*
No man. AA doesn't kill performance in Fallout 4. It isn't using MSAA at all. Just temporal AA of which is post processed, doesn't affect performance significantly.

What kills performance is godrays and shadow distance.

The slow 512mb VRAM on the 970 is not really much of an issue on Win 10 btw, for those who still likes to keep joking about it.

i would go for strix. its silent and a reliable brand.
*
Typical recommendation because one is a huge brand, the other is a who-are-they brand.

If you did a little bit of research, the Strix from Asus was and still is one of the worse 970s around. From the fact that its voltage is locked a lot lower than its competitors, something that even a BIOS mod can't reliably alleviate, to the fact that the cooler is subpar.

As for reliability... err lol. sweat.gif

no need most powerful gc, juts wanna play 1080p smoothly.
*
You gotta set your expectations of "smooth" then. 1080p60 is not smooth to me, especially since I'm playing at 120hz.

If 60fps is your definition of "smooth", then a 960 can technically give you that if you're willing to drop details and not use gimpworks. Comparatively, a 970 couldn't give me 120fps consistently at 1080p on recent games at max details. A 980Ti was needed and that's with a game maxed out.

There are people, believe it or not with SLI 980Tis who play at a locked 4k30fps and they call it smooth. Go figure.

So, what's your definition of smooth?
