Macam ok je if I don't upgrade to 1080.
But what the heck, maybe I will sell mine.

WTS Asus GTX 980ti Strix RM2.5k lel

Wait for 1080Ti la. Why all 980Ti users so eager to upgrade to 1080? I'm keeping my 980ti mang.

True also, atm I am convincing myself to wait and not upgrade. Wonder when the Ti will come out.
The performance difference at least isn't as much as I thought. Still beast our 980ti, and still is, since 1080 isn't out yet  cool2.gif

But the gimping though.. might as well not update driver anymore  laugh.gif
Hopefully someone update and compare stuff about the gimping.
*
If previous releases were to go by, we should hear something by near-end Q4 2016. Titan X came out 7 months after the 980, then the 980Ti came out just less than 2 months later. Can expect the same timeframe I guess?

Latest WHQL driver is the last driver I'm updating tongue.gif
Ain't gonna spend countless hours trying to figure out how our Maxwell cards would be gimped (or not?).

Curious about the pricing of xx60(1060?)

Pretty sure it will be faster than 970.
*
There won't be a 1060 until next year. I believe what Nvidia will do is (if they don't their AIB partners will) drop the price of the 970 to the midrange market, continue selling it for the rest of the year along side the Pascal cards.

Ok will wait together one shot buy new rig with kaby proc

Well I don't work for Nvidia, it's just a logical speculation from me as a long time Nvidia customer (dating back to the infamous FX days).

Also, don't rule out that by the time Volta release, USD1 > RM5 bye.gif

RM5 = 1USD still want to buy high-end GPUs? Use iGPUs by then lo. Thank the gomen.

Pascal news aside for a while, new driver is up (Doom game ready driver).

Any Maxwell owner want to be scapegoat? cool2.gif

TPU reviews are out:

http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/NVIDIA/...TX_1080/12.html

For some reason the overclocking seems kinda underwhelming to be honest...  sweat.gif
*
They test the OC results on BF3, an ancient game by today's standards. What for? Readers of TPU has complained time and time and time again to use another game, but nooooo... BF3. doh.gif

That said, BIOS modding for permanent OCing is going to be a pain in the ass looking at how Boost 3.0 works.

Well let's be realistic here.
The 1080 is aimed at 780 and 780Ti owners, those are the main target audience. To some extent, the 1080 is also targeting 970/980 owners too.

980Ti and Titan X owners, come on la guys.. you all know GP100 is inevitable. How many made the mistake of buying a 980 when they had a 780Ti just to find out the 980Ti isn't that far away? Admit it please.

Full specs of GTX1070 is out.

Good news; no 7.5GB vram bullshit like the 970 did with 3.5gb vram.
Bad news; it'll be more expensive than the 970 was on launch, in bolehland at least.

Me too.. I'm planning for 2k resolution.
2k to 4k seems like no difference to me.. lol..
I assume 2016 year end/early Jan 2017?
*
These days I've been meddling with Ultrawide gaming. 3440x1440 is just too immersive to give up, 4k can rot for now. Add to the fact that gsync works at this res, it's just pure gaming bliss.

QUOTE(Moogle Stiltzkin @ May 20 2016, 04:10 PM)
but even for people with no monitors that support 4k resolution, they can use the mode that converts 4k sources to their monitor native resolution. the benefit being an affect similar to AA ? is it worth using 4k in that way, or to just simply use SMAA at 1080p without doing that?  hmm.gif
*
Depends on the game in my experience.
There are still games which don't have proper DPI scaling above 1080p. So downsampling from 4k will make text way too small or the UI too puny.

QUOTE(Moogle Stiltzkin @ May 20 2016, 05:19 PM)
oo then sounds like 4k is not relevant to me then since my monitor doesn't natively do 4k anyway.

personally i didn't experience 4k yet... but wasn't 4k suppose to benefit big screen tvs in the living room? Whereas for pc monitor where you sit closer, for sizes like 24'' to maybe like 36'' 1080p was good enuff ?  hmm.gif

only the bigger pixel sized screens would mostly benefit from 4k i thought?
*
Not really. 1080p at 36" with a viewing distance of 2-3 feet is simply not feasible to me. It's blurry, it's too easy to see the pixel gate on screen.

love DigitalFoundry videos

but as mentioned, the difference between older gen CPUs to newer is highly dependable on games, so far as per video open world ones are the ones taxing the most.
*
Frametimes matters most bro.

An i7 has quite noticeably more consistent frametimes over i5 counterparts as proven on DF videos.

I've also personally went from an OC'd i5 4670k (4.6ghz) to a i7 4790k at stock.
GPU remains the same (980Ti), definitely saw and felt less juddering and better framepacing overall eventhough I was pushing over 80fps at 1440p regardless of either CPU on Witcher 3.

Even moba games which aren't taxing at all benefit a little. I play doto 2 at 120fps, but when there's like a 10 person team fight out, the framepacing can actually spike and drop here and there. Doesn't impact the experience much, but there has been a few times where I mis-timed a skill initiation simply because of a missed frame. So there's that.

1070 should be a good buy... 1080... not so much value for money imo..
*
980 was never a good deal either.
It was since the 680 where the initial flagship was worth it. 780 doesn't count since it was just a Kepler rebrand.

If the 1070 can OC like a beast just like the 970 could, then yeah... same case with Maxwell again. Get a 1070, OC the bejezus out of it, get near 1080 performance.

Either go full on... wait for 1080 Ti

or go for 'value'... get the 1070.  laugh.gif

Reason; 1080 Ti will most likely give you 60fps at 4k on triple-A titles max settings. The 1080 still can't quite get there.

1070 on the other hand; when OC'd should come close to the 1080 which would make it an amazing value GPU; perfect for 1080p and 1440p gaming.
*
For this year's and last year's games maybe. Then next year, we're back to square 1 again. Chasing 4k60.

Now all that's left to wonder is how well the 1070 will actually OC. These reviews don't know jack about pushing the limits.

Good luck to 980Ti sellers though. Higher than 1070 price, no one will buy. Lower than 1070 price, you lose nearly 50% of the price on the 980Ti depending on model. doh.gif

With falling prices, current 980ti owners could consider SLI by picking up another unit.
*
SLI for Maxwell has been utter shit.

I know first hand, went from dual 970 to a single 980Ti.

QUOTE(sai86 @ May 30 2016, 04:26 PM)
really nice price if its true.
Guru3d OC of able to gain around 10fps is good already and i believe AFC will be able to push it even more further.
yeah, sad part on 980ti. they can only sell it to jump to 1080, no point getting 1070 for them at all.

now we don't need no.1 high end gpu to get 60fps @ 1440p. No.2 will do now  thumbup.gif
*
Guru3D didn't show the frame time after OCing. All they did show was avg.fps which means nothing.

i think its hard. 60fps also barely lepas. on the benchie.
unless turn down settings as usual.
just out 2hrs ago. but i don't think they include FT after OC all the while  hmm.gif

That's FCAT for stock performance bro.

When OCing with GPU boost, performance don't just increase linearly. Frametime is never linear.
