love DigitalFoundry videos
but as mentioned, the difference between older gen CPUs to newer is highly dependable on games, so far as per video open world ones are the ones taxing the most.
Frametimes matters most bro.
An i7 has quite noticeably more consistent frametimes over i5 counterparts as proven on DF videos.
I've also personally went from an OC'd i5 4670k (4.6ghz) to a i7 4790k at stock.
GPU remains the same (980Ti), definitely saw and felt less juddering and better framepacing overall eventhough I was pushing over 80fps at 1440p regardless of either CPU on Witcher 3.
Even moba games which aren't taxing at all benefit a little. I play doto 2 at 120fps, but when there's like a 10 person team fight out, the framepacing can actually spike and drop here and there. Doesn't impact the experience much, but there has been a few times where I mis-timed a skill initiation simply because of a missed frame. So there's that.
