What caused your Asus Strix GTX980 to "spoil" and therefore require RMA?

Hopefully it doesn't happen to my Asus Strix GTX970 which I have modded.

Don't really know. Never overclocked. Was running at stock. One day decided to kaput by itself. bangwall.gif

When I collected the card today, I asked them what happened to my previous card. The shop didn't know. They just say my card was replaced with a new one but warranty still follow the date I first bought the card.

Good that your card is replaced with a new (despite same) card.

When will your warranty expire? Could wait until then for the GPU to crock and get a new and potentially GTX 1100 or GTX1200 series.

I wonder if they will continue to follow their trend of GPU names, thus far.

Bought it August 2015. Bad timing to kaput, what with the introduction of 1080/1070/RX480. If kaput one or two months later, might have considered the 1070! biggrin.gif

Anyway, looks like 1070 didn't disrupt the value of GTX980 that much, thx to conversion rate and how "strong" RM is. However, I think RX480 will spoil the market. Whatever it is, good for new buyers in general. smile.gif

Frankly, I hope AMD will disrupt the price. That would mean lower price for Nvidia cards which will benefit end-consumers like me.

not at this time, at least not until Vega or a RX490

the top perf crowns are pretty much owned by Nvidia atm, be it 1st or 2nd

AMD is smart though, to target mainstream consumer instead. for every 1 GTX1080 prolly 10 RX480 will sell (assuming its perf is as good as claimed)

Yeah, not so much on 1080/1070. More affecting GTX-900 series especially 970 and above. The more expensive the card, the more pain it brings..... sad.gif

Probably will upgrade my card before end of the year as it is income tax computer-claiming year!

Actually, it is for a full computer not just GPU. I had to explain previously (which is the whole PC except for HDD) to the Malaysian tax office.

Not fun.

Yes, the tax relief of RM3k once every 3 years is for a whole PC or notebook, not for parts. Do be aware of this in case you kena tax-audited.

Good for Malaysian taxpayers.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to enjoy that incentive since I am not a Malaysian tax resident anymore.

Bought The gigabyte G1 1070 on taobao for 3388 rmb. Seems that other brands are in short supply except for gigabyte.
