Call Maxis customer service to report. The TM modem .. known as BTU is lifetime warranty by TM. The lead time to replace it is around 1 week.

If u were on Unifi previously, they do not provide another BTU (modem).
If u are new subscriber, Maxis will provide it.

Btw just wondering how did u cancel ur Unifi? They didnt ask u to return the BTU ?

backbone is provided by tm. Even when you install new maxis fibre broadband, someone from TM will also come to install the cable and BTU. That is the deal between tm and maxis. They provide the line to maxis until the BTU. That is why even when you change, TM still need to provide fibre until the BTU.

If BTU spoil then you need to get it replaced. But in this case, you will need to contact maxis which will contact tm which you will need to wait both of the party to be free to come over to your place.

Changing BTU unit directly should not work. Cause AFAIK, they need to register you line information into the BTU. The reason why it would work is if they use same standard password for all the configuration. Not sure in this part.

Good luck and keep us updated on how it goes.

You forgot to add "Or More".
My friend was using Maxis Fibre, he had to wait 12 days to get a replacement BTU.

Should've stayed with UniFi.
My BTU died in 2013, TM technician came to replace it on the next day. icon_idea.gif

Different people, different experience.
But no matter what, I'd never opt for Maxis Fibre unless I move to an area where the whole infra belongs to Maxis themselves. biggrin.gif

When I cancel my Unifi... they didn't ask me return the BTU...

BTW... I think is not fair... if New subscriber got new BTU... change from Unifi to Maxis should give same BTU as well.... doh.gif

IINM, that's now how it works.
To change BTU, TM needs to know the unique ID of the BTU in order to activate it.
So we still need the technician to come over.

Though I may be wrong as I've never tried to replace the BTU by my own, so do correct me if I made a mistake. blush.gif

Weird though coz afaik termination need to return BTU or else will charge RM200.
New or old BTU doesnt matter, but actually i prefer the black one over the new model.
Too bad my new place is using copper line, if not sure i will buy a used black one.
