Saw 3-sets on sale at one local flea market and I thought .... "who would want it?" Went looking at other things, back at the stall about 1 - hour later, GONE. There are still followers/diehard fans out there, glad to know that.

well, guys the good news is that the newly launched Subbuteo has hit our shores. Yay! the bad news however is that it's now made by Hasbro. If any of you collect Hasbro stuff you will know what to expect, which isn't very much. i was hoping a British or European company would have taken it over since Subbuteo really fared well in Europe, so we shall see what Hasbro has in store for us.

Currentlg you can see the game and some of the accessories in either Borders (Gardens) or Times (Pavilion) - those are the only two places i have seen them although i was told there was a demo of the game in Bangsar Village a couple of weeks back.

The other bad news is the pricing, i can't remember the original 70's pricing but then as it is now it isn't cheap. RM250 for the basic starter set - 2 teams, pitch, balls and goal posts. Additional teams are RM75 a pop! But so far i haven't seen any of the EPL teams although they are selling an all white strip team which can be modded i suppose.

No need get the starter set.

May be you try asking the distributor directly for the pricing. If the pricing not right you can buy online anytime.

Wanna join the subbuteo club if there is one.

i don't think there is one around now but if you Google you will find the Malaysian rep is in Kuching somewhere.

Must figure out which of the Local Games Stores are keen on plugging the game so i can try out the new version. From what i heard there is a big difference between the ori version and the one from a few years back to this one.

If you don't buy the starter set how are you going to play the game? i would much rather get my own set and control my own destiny than to always have to rely on someone else for a game.

so its not mass marketed here, just a selective few who are bringing in and the price! if i remember correctly a starter set only cost about rm1xx like that which includes the items u mentioned. Additional teams cost only rm25 last time, so does a box of goalpost which contains 2 pcs per box bt of cos with the rising cost of material they'll only cost more and more...

unfortunately bro, the Subbuteo scene over here is nt that active, i bet most still have their old sets but the difficulty of getting additional players and accessories means most may not have complete set anymore...

i still have a set bt i hardly played with it anymore as some of the players legs are already broken...

Actually guys, there is a move to reintroduce Subbuteo back to our living rooms again.

Imagine Games and the guy behind them are bringing them in and i was last told that he is trying to restart the passion again.

There are a few things planned and even talk of the possibility of a league even.

If you go to Times (Bangsar or Pavilion) you will see the official Subbuteo (not the Zeugo ones mind you) teams for LFC, CFC and QPR. Odd selection but if you are fans of those teams you have to get them.

Will update you guys on this thread if i hear more ......

Did Subbuteo get the license officially? I've been seeing a reintroduction in sales, mainly @ Borders Gardens. Haven't seen any marked CFC or LFC, but definitely some that are 'styled' in their colours.

license officially? u mean the right to use the name and colors of football clubs? yes, they did get the license, its that the jerseys are too small to put in any markings. actually u can buy teams like Liverpool, Man U, and even Blackpool separately other than those that comes with the set tat u bought. and yes, names like Liverpool, Manchester United were printed on the box. and they also comes in 2nd and 3rd strip in case everyone is a supporter of a certain team so when u play each other u guys can use alternate colors icon_rolleyes.gif

I first played Subbuteo in late 70s (yeah old dude here but young at heart). There were about 10 of us and we had our own English League with each 'managing' his own fave club. We had loads of fun for about 5 years until one by one moved away to college, etc. I did buy the 1994 USA edition and got a few friends to play. IMO Subbuteo did not take off here cos you need space to play the game. Malaysian homes tend to lack space unlike the West where average house is spacious.
