forestry department? where is the entrance and the payment office?

*
haha.. totally forgotten bout this thread..

at tanah rata, take the turn towards smokehouse. smokehouse on your right the golf course on your left..
oh do please camwhore with the red UK telephone booth..

drive straight on you'll see telekom telephone exchange at your left then a t junction..
take a right turn.. if i'm not mistaken you'll see army commando camp there

drive a bit futher then take a left junction. if i'm not mistaken there is a a signboard telling the forestry department and campsite.
the road is small but winding.. around 2-300 meters i guess.. got a big carpark.. can fit 5-6 big coach busses.. the office in on top a small hill. if you see houses there.. those are the forestry department living quarters.. just ask around if youre lost..

words of advice.. if you can, please get the phone number for the forestry departmnet to book your campsite early.. kinda hearbreaking and costing more money and time if you go there and the site is full..

Depending on how fast u drive...If one avg 110KM/hr on h/way and avg 70km/hr from Tapah to Tanah Rata..I will be about 3.3hr...i.e 1.7 hr up to Tapah & another 1.5 hr from Tapah to Tanah Rata

KL -Tapah ~160KM
Tapah - CH ~70KM

For easier ride but far & more toll use:

KL-Spg Pulai - 200KM 2hr
Spg Pulai -CH - 80KM - 1hr

Nope...No one want to go CH for the diesel smell & noisy traffic....This is Brinchang...Yes Tanah Rata much quiet & rather relaxing..and this is the paradise not Brinchang!...Food in Tanah Rata is reasonable too compare to the ever cut throat pricing in Brinchang...Yes brinchang is happening but if u like noisy area..do so in brinchang but u really want cool soothing, quiet & far from noises...Heritage ..U won't regret...somemore do use the Tmnet hotspot service at the lobby if u feel boring....

Hi, all.

I'd like to go to Greenhill Resort at Jalan Gereja, Tanah Rata. I believe it's nearby to Heritage as both are located on the same road.

1) May I know how to get there by bus?

2) Are local taxis available at the Tanah Rata bus station?

3) Which bus company is recommended?

4) How much is the fare?

5) Should I purchase the bus ticket in advance?

6) If I were to stay at Jalan Gereja, are there any eateries within walking distance?

Pls. help. Thanks!

1) May I know how to get there by bus? Not so sure but all public bus stop at Tanah Rata for sure

2) Are local taxis available at the Tanah Rata bus station? Yes the taxi is side by side wth the Bus station located at Tanah Rata
3) Which bus company is recommended? Not so sure

4) How much is the fare? Not so sure

5) Should I purchase the bus ticket in advance? Not so sure

6) If I were to stay at Jalan Gereja, are there any eateries within walking distance? Jln Gereja is just in front of Convent..actually I'm not sure where is this greehill resort probably to new. From the Convent to Tanah Rata eateries is just within walking distance & less than 500M away but if deep inside such as Heritage..u probably need to walk for about 1.5KM...Pls. help. Thanks!

there's only 2 company direct from KL to CH
1 using new road (new bus) (name not sure, never take bus before)
another using tapah route (old bus) (the name is regal)

the ticket can be obtain at puduraya

Amyho,

IMHO its best you drive there. Own transport is best as you can shuttle between Tanah Rata, Brinchang, Kea Farm or even to Tringkap with ease and mobility.

Not too sure if taking a bus there and rely on taxis to take you from place to place would be cheaper than you having your own car to move around.

Ok here's some data I came up with after researching about bus travel.

From KL to CH, there are two companies:

Kurnia Bistari Coaches (RM17 - 22)
03-20318307

Damai Express (RM25 VIP coach)
03-21459077

It takes you all the way up to Tanah Rata.

Thanks guys for all the info. Appreciate it very much!

We ended up driving instead of taking coach. Luckily we made the right choice as it's so convenient and we went to a lot pf places.

Stayed at Greenhill Resort, a very good choice too as it's not as congested as Brinchang. The resort is clean and spacious...3 rooms for 6 person...it's very comfortable. My mum cooked most of the meals.

We went to Brinchang for the night market. Realized that the night market is directly at the Star Regency Hotel doorstep. A bit disappointed with the night market as the price is extremely expensive (vege and fruits). Though the flowers are cheap, I advise you not to buy it coz they will all die once reach KL. I also dunno why.

My recommendation: Though lot of places selling strawberry ice-cream, the best is still the Gardenview. You'll see a nice cafe on the way up to CH from Simpang Pulai. We bought 100 tubes! BTW, if you plan to eat outside, go to Kg. Raja. The food there is cheap and nice. Another thing is, we also went to Rumah Kedah for photoshooting. It's right on top of the hill...very nice scenery. biggrin.gif
