Yes.. but only recently he switched.

All the "classic" Green Day were done on a Fernandes Strat copy with a Seymour Duncan humbucker.

hmm fernandes strat is crap?hmm i think ok gua..

where i learn there was a fernandes strat( i used it that day)
its so worn out that when i bend half step then the sound dies off
fretboard also uneven liao then halfway playing the screw for the pickups fell off
and the input jack is loose the cable keeps coming off.
and got major body damage, got a huge dent until can see wood

thank god EMG pots are small.
gives me hope now that a 9V battery will fit in my limited space cavity.

I think I'm gonna change the pots on my RR3.. any suggestions?

CTS pots are the way to go for regular passives.
both gibson and fender have them, even the MIM.

price not sure...guessing around RM30-40 for malaysian prices.

welll, for a guitar that costs alot, its a small investment anyway to put in CTS pots.
else you can order online, about USD5-6 each, not including shipping.

Pot = potentiometer
ie an electrical device with adjustable resistance

used to adjust volume, tone... look at the volume or tone knob on guitar.

what i mean was if you just want to learn those simple 3-chord song and don't want to progress to a more complex genre, why would you need to spend on an expensive guitar?

back in the day, i can play any nirvana/blink182/green day song just using a kapok. only when go jamming i could get my hands on an electric guitar. talking about someone who did not have money to spend on gears.

@soulfly: last time i didn't have enough money to even buy an acoustic guitar until i inherited my sisters classical(i still use and take care of it now) the classical was in pretty bad shape but now i touch up change strings looks nice again
like you, i played those songs using a classical, palm muting on a classical is funny

it was only last november when i finally had enough money to get a decent guitar(didn't want to get something too cheap) so saved money everyday don't eat in school then can get liao

just buy the best guitar you can afford now.
musical tastes always change, so just play what you want.
look at blacktrix...from green day to bls to justin timberlake

then when you start work etc, you can upgrade to an even better guitar.

or even stop upgrading your guitar...
