Just make sure is interest paid not the installment amount.

Show the housing loan statement to IRB when you meet them then case solved.

I've checked with some friends, they said that it doesn't look like I'm being audited. They're outright requesting me to pay an X amount. I can only make rayuan.

weird stuff, too bad I can't call them now and until next wednesday

Maybe they already audited your background, since they can tell you what relief is added back into your income.

Now you can write letter to argue/show proof that the relief you claim is genuine.

For company audit it's the same they send letter request document after audit send letter inform how much to pay, then can write letter to argue/show proof.

I'm really not good with calculations and I'm unsure of what to write them to be honest. I guess I'll wait till next Wednesday to call them up for the reasoning behind the extra payment that is imposed on me. They really didn't state why..

I have been reading some articles about the EPF 8% vs 11% deduction and would like to get clarification on one particular item:

QUOTE
Wilfred added that workers earning more than RM4,001 a month should factor in a potential rise in income tax if they took the 3% reduction. “A 3% reduction in EPF essentially means you just got a 3% raise in your salary. So you have to pay more in income tax,” he said.

All this while, I followed the Jumlah Pendapatan amount under my EA form and put to Pendapatan berkanun penggajian. This is inclusive of the 11% EPF deduction.

However, from the above statement, it suggests that I should deduct 11% from my Jumlah Pendapatan and declare it under Pendapatan berkanun penggajian instead.

A simple example is: For total income RM100K, 11% deduction is RM11K. On the BE Form, should the Pendapatan berkanun penggajian be RM100K or RM89K?

Thank you

Only for PCB calculation is based on net salary.

For BE should always be gross salary and the 11% you contributed will count towards as your relief.

Yup. Don't get confused by PCB calculation and the BE submission.

And in this example if you put net salary in BE you just over claim your EPF relief by more than 5k.

I'm unsure if this is the place to ask, sorry if it's not. Here goes.

I got 2 mails from LDHN regarding my tax for 2012 and 2013. Turns out I need to pay additional tax of 685 and 1424 for 2012 and 2013 respectively. It's weird cause based on my tax filing, those years I got tax rebates and they paid me back a couple hundreds. How come now I need to pay back them.

I'm lost now I don't know who to call and ask. Is this the process that I need to bring receipts and paperworks of the rebates that I filed for 2012 and 2013?

Housing loan interest relief, if not mistaken, started off YA2009 and valid for 3 years, means YA09,10,11.

Why there was still claim on YA2012, 13?

looks like you have encountered the issue that I had back in 2013.

I have claimed the tax relief of housing's interest in 2013 (around RM3.5K), then I received letter from them later on asking to pay additional tax and stated the tax relief (3.5K) should be added into the taxable income.
I dropped by the LHDN office and clarified that those were the housing's interest, and the officer told me I should have to submit the SNP (front page) together with the statement (show that the interest throughout the year) in order to "entitle" for this tax relief.
The officer told me to pay the additional tax first, then submit the needed documents and wait for the refund (yes, i did receive the refund).

The following year, i continue to claim this tax relief, and right after i submitted BE form, i sent them the SNP + statement.
No more letter from them smile.gif

For claiming book relief, should I use the gross price or net price (after membership discount)? Just got Kinokuniya member card last year (for the 10% discount), so not sure which price should I report?
