But without a full view , you will never know what you truly need
is your chlorine too high ? should call syabas
is your TDS high ? if yes , what is the dissolved metal , is it harmful ?
is your water contaminated with bacteria / virus ? also need to call syabas
are you having hardwater ? need iron prefilter ? need water softener ? else you are killing the water filter quickly too.
i also watch a youtube video before stating that bacteria can grow on carbon block as well, if leave long enough it will become a breeding ground for bacteria. ( from removing chlorine to adding bacteria , well... )
hmmmmmm , point to pounder , but someone say lab will not entertain you too, can we call syabas for test data ?
This is a good point. However, there is an issue with this test, it gives you VERY limited information. It tells you what was in your water at that date and time.
These tests are really useful if you have a private well. You then pretty much 99.9% in control of your pipes, water source etc.
When we are talking about public water system and things like condo water tank, then what is in your water can change from day to day and even hour to hour. Was there any contamination, was your condo tank cleaned this month (or ever) and so on. The filter actually acts as an insurance. It covers you IN CASE of all of these events, while removing smell/taste/chlorine for every day use.
And yes, this is what I always say - carbon block, even when protected by silver ions, eventually becomes a breading ground for bacteria, must change it yearly. Do not listen to anyone who says "manufacturer said it can last up to 2 years". Yes it can, it will be removing chlorine, but it will also do more harm than good and you will not know it. This is why you need good carbon, silver protected, this is why you need to change it timely. Tap water in Europe is 10 degrees, tap water in Malaydia can be 30+ degrees. Bacteria grow a lot quicker in warmer water, carbon desactivates faster.
