Hi Just read a few pages, is this thread
Water Filter/Purifier Thread V2, Drinking Water Treatment System

is it talking in Water Filter/Purifiers in general?

Does seem like a pro Aquaphor thread.

No much about RO, Water Alkaline Ionizer, standard filter, with all the different brands

I did saw someone trying to promote/sell the amway eSpring ....
*
you may share your thought on what do you think about the water purifier or what you using or why you using. Pricing, warranty, features, Pros / Cons, gimmicks, scam, overprice, where to get cheap import stuff, DIY fixing etc more and more.

Anyone are welcome to leave their comments. smile.gif

Just sharing my experience and understanding after doing lots of research online and used many brands of filters before. I have used Doulton Ceramic filter, NESH, Rubine Alklaine, 3M DWS 2500, Aquaphor Eco and Aquaphor DWM 101

1) RO -
I am currently using Aquaphor's RO system (DWM 101) now for 6 months, not selling it yet in malaysia as i wanna fully test the product first. RO system is the cleanest filter in the market as it filters almost everything out including minerals and based on research online, water without minerals will have pH around 6.5 mild acidic and drinking demineralize water is not good for health. DWM 101 has remineralize cartridge to add back minerals and balance back the pH water, hence it is clean and healthy water. Other pros & cons u can ask me when u are in my shop, too much info to type out but most of them u can get it from GOOGLE

2) Alkaline water
Still not 100% proven, some say is good (can cure many diseases) and some say is not. I tested RUBINE alkaline machine as i have eczema problem but didnt improve the condition. Research says that if we drink alkaline water our body will actually automatically produce more acid to neutralize the alkaline, hence no health improvement. However, due to the compact size, most alkaline machine only provide a membrane filter (0.1micron) inside the machine. A 0.1 micron membrane alone is not sufficient in removing most of the impurities in our water even a RO membrane with 0.0001 micron has to be used together with other filters like CARBON BLOCK.

Welcome to this thread, quick observation there. rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

I have tested many water filters, RO, carbon, ionized alkaline generator from the japanese, koreans, usa, europe, malaysian....etc etc.

I own devices to perform test, and also have > 8 years experience in this area.

is been using for so many year also haven't break down so okay lar... laugh.gif actually to be exact is 6 year, because bought at 2010.
But still, in my opinion, I don't think it worth it, because is renting scheme, after 5years of renting, the thing only belongs to you, if in the middle of 5 years contract, you lapse payments, they reserve the right to collect back from you.

Somemore, after so long of renting scheme, if you know the calculation, you could bought 2-3 water purifier already... so like I said, if you afford to outright purchase the products, it would be more worthy. Since is office use, the salesman is a friend of my employer, the service satisfaction is okay lar.. not much complain, especially at office, we can use the feature of Cold/Hot water... if you plan to buy for home use, I think you can save some money buy some better one instead of the fancy cold/hot feature...

As always, we should remember, the purpose of buying a good water purifier, is not those fancy feature, is the water purifier that capable to do the standard job, that is to filter unwanted stuff and retain wanted stuff in the water.

Good to know it lasted 6 years without problem. The reason I wanted this is to have hot / cold water. Save time to boil water, as I already water filter at the entry point.

water filter at entry point (POE) are different than the one for drinking purpose (POU). Sometime, people just get mixed up both.

If you use hot water everyday and a lot, then getting a dispenser is really useful

For my family, we seldom use hot water at home as we brew our coffee in the office with a 1.5L kettle.

For Low usage, not worth getting bcoz :
1. Water Dispensers require maintenance due to the calcium build up and etc inside the machine & storage tank which you need to get technicians to clean it. Servicing will cost you $$ unless you purchase the machine with a rental scheme.

2. The machine will use more electricity as it will need to reheat and keep the water hot, if you use very little hot water you will be wasting $$ on electricity and also elderly says it is not healthy to keep on boiling the same water over and over again.
(Note : The machine doenst boil 24hours non-stop, when temperature drop til certain degree only it will reheat)

For low usage, just get a 1L kettle, only take awhile to boil compared to the conventional 5L kettle. Boil the water only when you need it to get fresh & high quality water for consumption.

Aquaphor does not manufacture water dispenser but i could order a korean dispenser to be coupled together with Aquaphor Crystal Eco.

Using an old skool thermos also helps keeps hot water efficiently.

hello guys, please recommend me water filter.... Really cant decide between amway and aquaphor...

Amway is almost 2x the price of aquaphor.. but it is more well known and the design is nicer lol

For yearly cartridge change, both are around the same price.... Functionality wise, I really cant commend cause I hardly study anything about water filter.

Please recommend me one. Thank you = )

If you have budget, go for eSpring from Amway. At least in future 5~10 years long run, you have less worry about these couple things, if not go for mid budget water filter with 3rd party certified.
  • Filter replacement easily can be buy from anywhere around Malaysia or the world as long the country is selling eSpring, except the you need buy a new AC Adapter/converter
  • Updated new model, current model spare parts phase out, you know how frustrated when you want to fix it but you can’t buy the parts. It won’t be happen on eSpring case, the company will still provide parts as long as possible, last generation they provided up to 9 years from the day they stop selling, if I remember correctly.
  • Free stuff or purchase with purchase at low price when buying a new filter. Who doesn’t like free stuff or cheap stuff?
  • The eSpring itself came with 2 years warranty, but the water filter replacement came with 1 to 1 exchange if found that malfunction, even myself experience 2 times exchange due to the sensors on the filter malfunction. No extra charges on me.
There some people might thought, oh well, if broken, might as well buy a new one instead of repairing? Then that is up to different people perspective.
One of the priority reason to consider is the high tech UV light that able kill viruses/bacteria. Who else still use the boiler/heater to kill those things in hospital/F&B manufacturer/medical manufacturer. Just my 2 cents Lol laugh.gif
