Only sad thing is that it's not complete - doesn't include fixed-line numbers like 03. Oh well.
*
Why would you want to have fixed line portability? Any logic

Maxis is ready. DiGi and Celcom are pushing for extension in the timeline. Most probably going to be in April 2009.

Sure or Not... Maxis will be the biggest loser...

With the current MP line up in the Parliament, i am sure that if the dateline is extended the questions would be enormous (snowball from last year).

Increase delivery system..improve quality of service and lower price!!!!

Yeah...finally the minister announced that this will be implemented in September for Klang Valley, then move on to the whole country by October. Just wondering, why can’t they just implement it for the whole country? Why need to do it in stages....

So, we still need to pay Rm25 for switching operator....anyone knows others countries like S'pore also charging this fee?

I do not know the number, but I belived Klang Valley have the very high number of mobile phone users (might be highest in the country). If they scare of problem, they should be select places like Kuantan, then problem will be minimize...instead of Klang Valley...

just my 2 cents of opinion... rolleyes.gif ...

This MNP have been talking for the longest time and i think we all know why is the delay. I really don't understand what technical problem is there??? other country have implement and if the Telco can sort out the technical issue after years of delay, i don't think they deserve to exist at all...!!!

if there is a monthly charge for switching operator (which i think will definitely be the case) i think our own MNP implementation defeat the purpose but then again... hey in this country, we have our own way of competition.

i am looking forward to more benefit for being loyal... right now i stay too long wif an operator i am rewarded with spam sms...!!! things like free/cheap phone upgarde with renew contract.

I want to do my own call routing. When I lived in USA for a while, I had two numbers that all my contacts knew: one for HP and one for fixed line. When I left, I ported them both to a VoIP provider and now have them ringing on my Digi line (depending on caller identification and time of day).

Also, having full portability presupposes that calls to all numbers (fixed and mobile) are terminated at the same cost. Reducing mobile termination charges in Malaysia would improve competition.

Bro, totally agree with u, there not be any techical problem now unless the telco tecnology is way to behind...

But for the RM25 charges, I thought that is 1 time charges when we change operator...

1. There will ALWAYS be technical issues since different telco will bring in different set of equipment and/or from different company (E///,Nokia, Alcatel, etc). Main arguement between telcos will be how their different sets of equipment will work with each other telcos set of equipment & in the same time DO NOT WANT to work together to help each other.

2. I think there is a company appointed by MCMC to handle this MNP project & to do consultation with the telcos and they don't even have experience in telecommunication, let alone MNP. Own by politician (maybe, if not how the hell can they this project) with the objective of gaining profit out of nothing, thus delaying this project because of lack of experience & different set of target/objective (getting more money instead of finish the project ASAP)
