bro, this thread is about bangkok. if you wanna know more abt hatyai, kindly look for the hatyai thread or start one ur own if there's none.

i went to bangkok b4 cny this year, had fun, bought lotsa stuffs. stayed at trinity silom hotel which is quite good for the price i paid. less than 5 mins walk to Chong Nonsi BTS.

i already booked airasia 0 fare ticket for nxt year b4 cny. going with my gf again, this time 5 days 4 nights. gonna be staying at sukhumvit this time since its more central.

definitely will be going to national stadium area to shop for my boxing stuffs.....then going to the standard chatuchak market, suan lum, pratunam, MBK, etc.

any other interesting place to visit?

Back from Bangkok last week. The stuff on Bangkok not cheap, price are similar to M'sia. But at JJ can find some very cheap thing, better go on morning or evening. The food also nice, dont go to stall which alot foreigner, go to alot local people 1. If you leave there around 6pm, can go the JJ park (the way back LRT).

Dim sum at Mr.Meng (MBK) are delicious not so expensive, i had never get this kind of fresh dim sum at M'sia hotel or restaurant. The dim sum quite small if compare to M'sia 1, but really nice & fresh, we spend less than 300bath can have a dinner. Sure will go back on next visit Bangkok.

I am planning on a trip 5D4N to Bangkok, looking for a hotel to stay.
From the Air Asia package, I was thinking to get the hotel at Chinatown is it ok? Please give me advice of other hotel too that is nice to stay and has easy access to BTS or MRT. My budget is less than RM 100 per night stay (twin sharing).
The hotel in Chinatown I am looking for is White Orchid , China Town Hotel, and New Empire Hotel.

Thanks

The only MRT station close to Chinatown is in Hualampung Railway sation..and it's about 1.5-2km away from Chinatown entrance..not sure wjhere are those hotels are, but chose wisely & check how far those hotels from MRT or BTS...preferable<1km away from closest BTS/MRT..Anyway, near Chinatown got river taxi...it can also connect you to the Silom BTS...but leceh-lah hv to take boat.. biggrin.gif

Try finding those hotels at Sumkhumvit or Silom..The best near National Station/MBK junction,,, it's in the middle of everywhere... thumbup.gif

Seriously I wouldn't recommend Floating Market. One reason being the floating market isn't as grand or big as it used to be. Also, there's not much things to buy. My personal opinion.

If my memory doesn't fail me, China Town is at the other end of Grand Palace and Wat Pho. Thus it's best that your "Chao Phraya River" trip is on the same day with your Grand Palace and Wat Pho day because it's in the same area.

i dont think u have enough time to this above combination.

u'll probably spent 1 whole day in chatuchak.
central world and paragon should be on the same day. if ur in the the shopping. i suggest u visit MBK and siam square area instead.
pratunam and platinum mall should be on the same day are they are just opposite one another.

u should rework ur itenary.
do be reminded, it rains every evening badly this days. although its still suppose to be summer.
which floating market are u going to?

ratchaburi floating market is about 1hr 45 mins from BKK.
if its for experience. its nice. for items.. well.. u can find all the items on sale along the river in MBK and Chatuchak too. Do note that the paddle boats are around 600bht and the motor ones are 800bht.

My proposed itinerary for 5D4N in Bangkok:

D1
Noon: Pratunam + Platinum mall + Chinatown (got enough time?)
Night: Suam Lum

D2
Morning: Floating Market (Damnoen Saduak)
Night: Nana + Pat Pong (got enough time?)

D3
M: Package tour to Pataya or Ayutthaya; or Chao Phraya river + Grand Palace + Wat Po + Wat Arun
N: Silom? Khao San ? (there got what interesting stuff?) other suggestions?

D4
M: Chatuchak Weekend market
N: suggestions?

D5
M: MBK, Siam Square
Noon: return

if extend 1 more day

D5:
M: Snake farm + Zoo + Royal Craft Centre + Gem Factory

D6
M: MBK, Siam Square
N: return

Did I miss any must go places? Please give me advice...

Probably staying at Malaysia Hotel, close to Lumpini MRT according to review - 10 minutes walk. Any people stay there before and any feedback?

About the package tour to Pataya or Ayutthaya, any idea how much does it cost? Where can I get the package?

Going to Pattaya, it's advisable to spend at least one night there as to enjoy the night life.

Yeapy - Malaysia Hotel is near sathorn. Should go to health land. nice oil massage.

Suan lum is crappy. dont bother going there unless u wanna sit have dinner and drink beer. since its so near ur hotel.. u can only go there if u have extra time. use the time for Chatuchak / Pratunam(clothes)

toratora - sorry man. i was staying there for the last 7 months. now im back in malaysia. wont be back there till 23rd. but i will be glad to introduce some places for u to visit. cheers
