Hello everyone. Planning japan trip now. Osaka + tokyo.

Which transport combo is more worth it?

KL>Tokyo>Osaka>KL
KL>Tokyo>Osaka>Tokyo>KL

From my research, the JR 7day pass is quite value for money if i take from tokyo to osaka and use there for travelling around. The only question is if sitting shinkansen for so many hours to osaka is viable. If too crowded maybe have to reconsider..

my coming trip is bolded part. as for JR 7 days pass, last saturday I went to Sunrise Travel Agency got promotion @ RM1000. Now not sure still got or not.

You sendiri research lah, why ask us?

For the dates you want to go, search flight KUL-NRT/HND return, and KUL-NRT/HND, KIX-KUL open jaw and compare price difference.

Then see whether that price different makes sense financially vis-a-vis the need to buy JR Pass (for Tokyo-Osaka Shinkansen return) vs Single-journey Tokyo-Osaka ticket. Also consider extra travel time needed.

Then decide lo.

For me when I did Kansai/Tokyo I did

SG>Osaka (fly)
Osaka>Tokyo (shinkansen ala carte ticket because JR Pass not worth it)
Tokyo>SG (fly)

Cos for my particular dates this was cheaper for me.

Of course i got other concerns like if the train got sufficient space/crowded. Because i will have to bring luggage on board maybe souvenir and shopping purchase as well. If there is no space then maybe i will consider taking one way ticket instead of struggling both ways or taking jetstar instead since i can check in luggage.

L_nette shinkansen carriages got luggage storage area in front (or behind? forgot liao). Normally got enough space one. If so coincidence the luggage storage area is full then just put at your seat in between your knees and the seat in front.

Legally all phone in Japan should have a "giteki" mark before they can be used. Read here for more information: http://eng.blogfromamerica.com/archives/60. Legally my iPhone I brought over from Malaysia is not legal even though it is the same as what it is sold in Japan. Simply because I do not have the giteki mark. For Xiaomi and other phone to penetrate the market here, they will need to pay a lot to get it certify. I know because I have help one phone maker to get it certified, but in the end they gave up.

However its difficult for people to catch you for using an "illegal" phone. As far as I know no one has been caught yet. Previously you can only get sim card from the big telco like NTT, Softbank and KDDI where you need to buy the phone as well. Recently there are more players coming into the market with sim free phone, hence that is the reason why you see more ppl using Xiaomi or other phones.

Anyway, I can go on an on about this but this is a travel blog.....

From Tokyo station get on Shinkansen ASAMA to Nagano city - 90min, 222km οΏ₯8.000, 222km

In Nagano station change for Nagano Dentesu Line to Yudanaka st. in Yamanouchi town - 50min, 33km, οΏ₯1.230 express, or οΏ₯1.130 not express

From Yudanaka station - you can take public bus and get of at Kanbayashi bus stop, or take Taxi up there - 7 min, 7km, οΏ₯1.500 (buy tickets from the bus booth just next to the train station)
From Kanbayashi follow the signs of Snow Monkeys and you have to walk 25min, 2km
β€’Your JR pass doesn't cover train from Nagano st. to Yudanaka st. -it's different train company

The bus at Yudanaka station is available every 30mins, so no worries.

Just walk back to the place where the bus dropped you. There is a small pondok and you can see the bus schedule there. Stay there and wait for the bus. If I can remember, it is hourly and the bus takes you directly to Nagano station.

Used iijmio tourist prepaid sim on my Mi3 earlier this month, no problem at all, you may need to enter the APN manually. You can buy it at BIC camera or Yodobashi.

Did you try the sweet corn? Holy sh*t. That was the best corn I ever had in my life. Eat the raw sweet corn.
