Hi guys, need your advise for about my concerns on my newly purchase Panasonic air con outdoor unit:

1. If the outdoor unit has a dent spot on the blue fin, will impact the cooling performance (As shown in the photo)?

2. Will it causes corrosion problem sooner?

I had order this air con from Lazada (because of Save 2.0) and I had asked about this dent and the seller said it will not affect the performance. Is it true?

Hi, want to ask something regarding with problem of ac not cool. Lets say if AC piping is provided by developer but indoor and outdoor unit by my installer, after installation, ac not cool when turn on, installer say its piping problem. How to check and verify if its piping problem?
*
If the connection point tested no leak, then it is most likely piping.

Testing for leak has a few method.
1. Soap water
2. Oil stain for old leaks
3. Gas detector.

Hi I would like to ask about the piping for the aircond unit. Currently the develoer recommended airconds to use in my unit is stated as r410a airconds. Is there any issue with the aircond piping if I install a R32 aircond unit instead? Besides the piping, any other issue that I'll need to know as well?
*
r410a and r32 run at the same pressure.

so no issues

Thank you for you details explanation.

Another question about how to choose between inverter or non-inverter. Is it really inverter only save energy if use over 7-8 hours?

no.

Wonder any disadvantages for long term?

Will it have any impact on blower? I been using it for few years. Nice and clean coil inside.

Recently after i clean with water, maybe not enough time to dry up, then I close the cover back.

After that turn on the aircon have some smell, and notice some white powder on the coil after few weeks. Not sure is mold or not?

I have clean it up and remove the extra filter to monitor.

That's why i wonder should I still continue apply the extra filter.

no.

Hello Sifus..

I humbly need ya'll to shed light on my current situation.

I'm contemplating to buy another air-conditioner for my room.

My current Hitachi RAS-EH10CKM  (a 9000btu/h air cond) provides  insufficient cooling during daytime but adequate during night time.

So i need advise to get either of the following air conditioners:-

1. Panasonic X Deluxe CS-XPU13WKH (1.5hp) = RM1719.00
2. Daikin FTKH28AV (1.0hp) = RM1743.00
3. LG Dual Inverter Deluxe S3-Q12JA3WA (1.5hp) = RM1599.00
4. Gree Queen I GWC12ACC-K6DNA5A (1.5hp) = RM1490.00

Now, I am not replacing my current Hitachi Non-Inverter by getting a new Inverter unit as it could not be relocated to other rooms in the house due to it being too underpowered. My plan is to add another unit in my room and maybe i'll switch on Hitachi from time to time just to give it a run but i'll mostly be using the new Inverter air cond.

Is the Daikin (option no. 2) okay? As it's a 1hp unit but having a significantly higher nominal btu at 9700. As mentioned previously, my current 9000 btu/h Hitachi is only insufficient during daytime.

For context, my usage is setting the temp at 27 Celcius and circulate the air with a fan. I use it mostly during bedtime and naps on weekends.

The LG and Gree could drop down its btu to 2000btu and 1365btu respectively compared to the Panasonic and Daikin. The Panasonic on the other hand has a much higher btu to spare should the necessary situation arise, plus i am quite fond of the Panasonic brand as my brother's 2005 Panasonic was still blowing ice cold until it was replaced last month (March 2021) to item no. 1 above in an attempt to go green with R32 and save electricity.

I'm so confused but one thing for certain, i will not spend >RM2k for an aircond (for my room that is..).

Fun fact, i've even considered a Midea 2.0hp Inverter (Xtreme Save) as its around the same price but the minimum btu is roughly around 7k++ so its a no.

I'm all over the place.. please send help... most grateful to those who could give an input on the matter at hand.

You might also consider other stuff :

1. Gap below the door big? Consider the door seal(brush or rubber type)
2. Consider tint with high infrared rejection for window
3. Consider window seal for window gaps
4. Long time no service aircon? Consider service.
5. A lot of heat absorb by outside wall? Consider light color paint if the wall is dark colored or wall insulation.
6. Room on top floor? Might want to consider roof material or insulation.

Okay so...

1. Gap between door and floor is minute (about 3 cm)
2. I have 3 windows [since my room protrudes out, each window faces east, north and south (all 5ft by 5ft)].. no tint so far, but i like my room bright hehe
3. No window gap actually since i've just replaced the window framing / pane
4. Air cond was bought new in November 2020.. i clean the filter once every 2 weeks.. i think the dust is still okay as its not noticeable on the coils
5. Yes tonnes of heat since the window that faces North gets continuous sea breeze and its overlooking layers of zinc (as beneath it is our verandah)
6. Roof insulation is new as well.. one of those aluminium coils.. since i had changed the roofing on September 2020.

I honestly think i bought an underpowered Hitachi unit (1.0hp non-inverter)... my room measures 17ft by 14ft btw.. ceiling height is about 11ft.. but my ceiling is close to the roof since my room is an addition from the initial house, hence the sloping roof means my ceiling is about 2ft to 6ft of the

3 cm is damn big. you should definitely install the door seal/skirt

Recently I've bought 2 penasonic 1.5 & 2.0 XU series AC from lazada by using save 2.0 voucher and 3 units Panasonic bayu 5 fan.
But I found that, a lot of shop are out of stock for Panasonic products, not sure what happened to Panasonic. What's wrong with Panasonic now?
I prefer to have same brands for whole house.
So still need to buy 4 fan, 2 wall AC, and 1 cassette. But suddenly feel x confident with Panasonic. lol
I asked few shop nearby my house, all Panasonic AC out of stock too.
So I scare the Panasonic spare part might difficult to find in the future, was thinking to continue buy Panasonic AC at lazada or change to other brands.
Any suggestions? Or any recommended brand & model for AC(1hp & 1.5hp wall and 2.5hp cassette?
*
for aircond, spare parts is the least of concern.

parts that usually spoil have lots of generic parts. ori or generic for those parts dont matter much.

for parts that matter......usually it is not worth the repair.

Im using Midea 1hp inverter. 1year plus already, no problem. Just the ODU casing got some metal vibrating sound (on full power before slowing down)

Haven't check yet.

Most seller/installer will mention about this midea ODU problem after a year..
*
likely some sound insulation foam that is loose and scraping with the outdoor unit fan.

Hi all, it's getting hot nowadays. I am staying in a double story house. Thinking of installing a 2.5hp Air Cond unit in my living room, which actually combined with dining and kitchen area making it quite a sizeable area.

Anyway, my main concern is with a staircase opening where the cool air will surely escape through upstairs. Any idea how what kind of door can be installed to seal it and access the staircase when needed?

Photo of staircase as per below..

not really a concern really.

unless there is wind, cool air actually will stay as cool air is denser.
hot air rises.

so better look for gaps like gaps under the door or window seals etc etc for improving insulation.

Hello, I having a Panasonic inverter r410a and was freezing and not cold. The installer said leak gas and i replaced the piping and topped up gas.

However it is still not cold now. And he said i can reuse the existing piping of R410a to new aircon using R32 gas. Is it ok?
*
if the piping is at fault then no point.........

investigate the reason for not cold first.

Just sharing my experience of my recent purchase of 2HP CS-XPU series air cond last Feb

1. By Mar, lodged a complain for air cond swing sound whenever swinging up.
2. Pana technician came and problems can be recreated
3. Technician came back to change air cond swing part
4. Later on, realized the air cond tak tak sound randomly thorough out the night especially in Auto mode. Complaint this symptom to customer service to add on to the first problem
5. Air cond swing still generate sound whenever swinging up and tak tak sound persist more regularly. Complained again and request to change indoor unit
6. Change new indoor unit but same problems still happening
7. Change another air cond swing part and the foam part inside air cond. Still didn't resolve problem
8. Requested for refund since it has been almost 2 months troubleshooting and can't resolve. Technician already made 5 trips to check
9. Got the refund and Pana took back the whole set.

Painful experience as the sound caused me sleepless nights to the point I have to wear ear plug to sleep as I'm a light sleeper.

One good thing is Pana warranty service is top notch. If this issue were to happen to China air conditioner brand, not sure whether they can be as good.

Now I change to ME JS series. Still got single tak sound like every 10 mins. Still bearable for now. Still not sure what's the source of the sound....
*
sounds like a batch issue problem..........

either the swing actuator or some parts of the horizontal vane creating friction to movement.

But he just replace the piping for his old ac.

replace the piping of old aircon dont mean much..........i wont trust anything and would test each component.

but sure, if piping is external casing and easy to change.........why not.

Thanks for your feedback. After changing thrcpiping for existing piping it still froze but a part only and not making cold.

So i decided to replace it with new r32 inverter but asking is it worth the risk to reuse the old (less than a month old) piping.
*
the piping need to be tested.

maintain negative pressure for at least 30min.

the piping need to be within spec of the aircond, typically thickness need to be more or equal 0.61mm.

You can refer to this tak sound, check out about 1min 35 seconds. Try to maximize the volume to hear clearer. As you can see in this video, I didn't turn on the swing, so the sound is from internal part of the IDU

Air cond tak tak sound
*
Seems like the sound from the coil itself.
Can happen just moments after the compressor kicks on. Caused by thermal contraction and flow of refrigerant. Usually known as a cracking sound.

In my case, the sound happened after compressor turn off especially if air cond set to Auto mode (meaning alternating between cooling and fan mode). Later on, the situation gets worse that it also happened in cooling mode as well.

Is this cracking sound common in other air conditioner? I can understand if it happens once a while but constantly through out the night is very disturbing for sleeping. Anything can do to remove/reduce this cracking sound?
*
as far as i understand, auto mode is just automatically adjust the indoor unit fan speed automatically according to how much difference the room temperature and the set temperature.
mode of aircond dont matter much or at all as long as it is a mode that cools the air.

not much can do to reduce the sound........as the sound is created when there is a huge temperature difference between the coil temperature and the refrigerant temperature.

i would recommend an inverter aircond (soft start of the compressor and fine control of compressor speed to prevent start stop compressor) and improve the insulation of the cooling space to prevent cold air loss.
