Ah I hope Kia Malaysia brings the GT here, especially sedan. If they do, I'll be first in line to book it.

The current Cerato SX 2019 is from Korea. There is no mention of CBU.
What is the story? I thought Cerato are now assembled locally.

Initial batch of new model often 'semi-CKD'... if you know what that means... biggrin.gif

1.6 MPI Engine , sedan version is confirmed, it will be be launched sometime by 4th quarter this year, at earliest. We won't get the GT-line leafback/hatchback here, unfortunately.

Definitely CKD, look at head unit. Seller likely stretching it a bit... a Kia is, after all, a Korean car... made in Malaysia is only a mechanical thing, haha...

If you search Mudah for 2019 Kia Cerato they are all:

Country of Origin: Korea, Manufactured year: 2019
Price is about RM88K while 2018 (Country of origin: Malaysia) is about RM83K

Maybe Naza Kia stop assembly of current model and getting ready production of new model. In the mean time get CBU to replenish stock.

Current model Cerato YD-PE will still continue to be sold from now until the end of 3rd quarter at very attractive pricing as mentioned. All New Cerato BD is targeted for launching only in 4th quarter or early next year.

Current Cerato YD-PE is under CKD program, not CBU from Korea.

GT-Line is just a styling difference. We will be getting the GT right? The 1.6 T-GDI with the DCT.

No confirmation on GT-Line or GT to be offered for Malaysian market yet. Guess we will need to wait for further announcement by year end.

I’m thinking they might because it’ll be like the Elantra Sport that was brought in as CKD. Just don’t know how long after the normal specs are launched. The body is essentially the same, just engine and transmission different with some styling changes. Unfortunately the Elantra is the previous gen styling that has been around for so many years, but the Cerato is all new. If they can price it as close to the top spec Civic as possible then it may have a chance to be successful, especially if they’re willing to throw in all the bells and whistles such at Adaptive Cruise Control that the US spec has. I’m hoping.

Kia Cerato has been a very reliable car. However occasionally, the airbag indicator may light up after a few years, which is often caused by a faulty clock-spring on the steering. Do check on this. No other major problem mostly. Good luck and happy car hunting.
