Do 1.6 and 2.0 cerato have very noticeable difference in terms of performance and power?

Yes, there is definately a difference in the power and torque.
However, to some users, 1.6 to them is already sufficient. To others , 2.0 give them the extra power they need for their spirited driving style. As such there is no one shoe fits all when it comes to power requirement. Suggest you do a test drive to gauge for yourself.

What's the best deal here?

I'm interested to trade-in my Polo Sedan 1.6 for pre-facelift used k3 cerato 2.0.. I would like to know:
1. Is the car problematic? Any common defect such as steering rack issue on Forte 2.0?
2. Is 2.0 also affected with idle engine vibration?
3. How's fuel consumption? Able to reach 11km/litre on city driving or not?

Thanks.

I think I can answer your questions as I have driven the Cerato 2.0 for more than 3 years

1.) no problem in this car except the minor rattling sound come from the area near clock and screen. no steering rack issue so far (touch wood)
2) Never encounter the issue of idle engine vibration.
3) For my case, FC is not good in 90% city drive 8.5 ~ 9.0km/litre but I am able to achieve 6.2l/100 km (~16.1km/l) for outstation drive with average speed of 130~140 km/h

I too was very eager to get one myself. Was in the FB group for few months.
Typical complain, weak battery and steering knocking sound and sometimes fuel cover cannot open.
Apart from that, there are few different issue with the car which doesnt make your car undrivable.
New or second hand, very much depends on luck. There a new post bout getting a lemon unit, which has to replace some parts and have to wait for long time.
So yeah, their SC suck. Probly not wise to get a new one for that reason.

I suppose there is no perfect car, each would have its weakness. But generally, K3 has so far proven to be reliable and value for money with all the specs thrown in and at sub 90K pricing with Free 3 years service, it is worth every car hunter's consideration.

Steering knocking noise is the most I fear and hope to not encountering on a relatively new car. But seems nowadays every car on the road suffer that. From vellfire, Altis, to new proton saga, very often i'm seeing this issue and I hope to avoid on my new ride.

yeah.. cerato considered good compare to other made. very solid. but the SC really need a lot of improvement. Telling other to wait long long for a battery replacement is really stupid.
So to me at least, getting a second hand is better bargain where I dont have to rely on KIA bad SC.

how long for battery replacement? my vw waited 1 week during merdeka holiday as vw refused to swap for me when onsite assists came, and need to tow to SC after long holiday, leave car 1 night for them to perform old battery charging for confirmed dead only replace new under warranty for me.

according to the FB post, SC told the owner that he have to wait a bit longer, no time frame given. Cant imagine that SC do not have extra battery in their stock, but of coz they do, they just do not want to do it.
however, from the FB group, each SC has different policy. Some are much better than other. Its as if there are no common policy and they do whatever that can generate more profit for them. So forget bout after sales service.
With that in mind, second hand one is better choice as it save you from the frustration of having to deal with their SC.

depends on SC, last time my Forte during CNY 5-6th day, claim AC pipe, 3 days arrived. legendary Kinrara SC but tutup !@#$%.

recent accompany my sister to survey cars, Cerato is good car around this price range, quite perfect. Nothing much to complaint. thumbup.gif

shopping for D segment is harder, there is always some minus here and there for each brand. rclxub.gif
