Old Soviet Missile Makes Easy Work of US M1 Abrams Tank (VIDEO)
The video below shows what are said to be Houthi rebels in Yemen using old Soviet-designed Fagot anti-tank guided missiles to destroy American-made, Saudi Arabian-owned and operated Abrams M1 main battle tanks.
A direct hit by a Fagot missile at the M1’s turret led to the detonation of the tank’s ordnance payload stored in the turret’s back.
This is the weakest spot of America’s main battle tank, which leaves the crew with virtually no chance of survival.
It was with this possibility in mind that Russia’ new Armata tank features an uninhabited turret. The Fagot antitank missile system entered operational service in 1970.
Its missile uses a 2.5 kg High Explosive Anti-Tank (HEAT) warhead which can penetrate up to 600 mm of conventional steel armor and has an effective range of up to 2,500 m through the use of an improved solid propellant sustainer rocket motor and lengthened guidance wire.

Invisible Cloak for Military UAV’s, I’ll Have Some

Researchers are working to create a new design for the Harry Potter-esque invisibility cloak, which will conceal objects, making them more difficult for adversaries to detect.
By Homeland Defense & Security Information Analisys Center (HDIAC) Staff
Scientists are working on creating a new design for a technology that redefines what the public views as imaginary. Inspired by the well-known Invisibility Cloak from Harry Potter, electrical engineers at the University of California, San Diego have created a new design for their cloaking device, using a Teflon substrate, studded with cylinders of ceramic, that is thinner than any prior development and does not alter the brightness of light around concealed objects.
The Teflon has a low refractive index, while the ceramic’s refractive index is higher, which allows light to be dispersed through the sheet without any absorption. Compared to an invisibility cloak, this technology has not only the ability to conceal, but the ability to increase optical communication signal speed and to collect solar energy.
The goal of this design is to create devices that make any object appear invisible by scattering the electromagnetic waves, such as light and radar, off an object making it less detectable to these wave frequencies. Metamaterial that surrounds the target is able to force light to bypass a region of space, which effectively “cloaks” the object, making it isolated from incoming electromagnetic waves.
how so? i thought they still have DU armour ? unlike Iraq/ISIL versions.
they bought m1a1 & a2 that were supposed to be upgraded to m1a2s but we dont know the progress.. suppose all to be but contracts were given out in phases...
tank is a complex machine... not every part of the tank is protected the same... some parts are weaker... maybe that's the part yg kena... also m1 is utilizing passive armor... unlike merkava's active trophy armor
guys, just saw the parade footage and saw that the flag has enter the parade ground upside down. Please correct me if i'm wrong, but dont upside down flag is the signal of distress?
By Kua Kia Soong French Defence Minister Jean Yves Le Drian will be visiting Malaysia on Tuesday, 1 September and Malaysians who have just mourned the loss of billions of ringgit from 1MDB, the introduction of GST as well as the drastic fall in the value of the ringgit should be wary. Malaysia’s Defence Minister Hishammudin Hussein has said that his discussions with his French counterpart will be over the acquisition of the French Dassault Aviation Rafale multi-role combat aircraft.
Despite Malaysia’s dire economic crisis, Hishammuddin has just announced that his ministry will proceed with acquiring the armed forces’ assets under the 11th Malaysia Plan (11MP). He said among efforts to be taken by the ministry were the upgrading of the ‘Nuri’ Sikorsky S-61A-4 helicopter, Hercules C-130, Admiral Class Corvette and the acquisition of other assets for the three wings of ATM. According to Hishammuddin, the acquisition can only be carried out if the financial package offered fulfilled the requirements set by the Finance Ministry: “It can be done in the near future, and with transparency. The assets are not cheap, and it must be accepted by the public. It must be something that we need, but at the same time we must be realistic on whether or not we can afford it.”
So what are these “other assets” that the defence minister did not specify? He omitted to mention another big purchase that has been highlighted in the international defence news portals. La Tribune newspaper recently suggested that Malaysia is also a possible contender for purchasing one of the Mistral aircraft carriers which had been ordered by Russia from STX France before being cancelled after the Ukrainian standoff in 2014. The French defense minister is reported to be in talks with Malaysia to sell us one of these Mistral aircraft carriers.
According to La Tribune, Malaysia has been interested in buying an aircraft carrier similar to a Mistral for at least 10 years. So why the mystery if an aircraft carrier is considered essential for the country’s security needs? Or is it? Where is the transparency in the discussions over our defence needs?
Can we afford Rafale fighter jets and Mistral aircraft carrier?

Ady got 2 tered for this, so I just copy paste the answer Also the flag is shown for those on the vip box, notice they held up the "top" part higher than the "bottom" when they past the vip box
