Lack of Ukrainian components stalls construction of ships for Russian Navy — deputy PM


OMSK, June 3./TASS/. Russia cannot complete the construction of some naval ships as Ukraine has suspended supplies of gas-turbine engines, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said on Wednesday.

"We cannot finish the construction of surface ships for the Russian Navy as supplies [of gas-turbine engines] have been stopped," Rogozin said in the Siberian city of Omsk.

He said within the import substitution plan, Russia plans to launch the production on 186 items that were earlier produced in Ukraine, first of all gas-turbine engines.

"We are planning to complete this [import substitution] work before 2018," the top official noted.

Admiral Grigorovich class frigates (Project 11356) and Admiral Gorshkov class frigates (Project 22350) use Ukrainian gas-turbine engines, in particular.

Ukraine in May terminated a treaty on military cooperation with Russia.

An explanatory note said the bill was aimed at "protecting Ukraine’s national interests, independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity."

The authors of the document claim that the Russian side "has unilaterally violated norms and principles of the international law and carried out armed aggression against Ukraine."

The 'Clown Hat': Ukraine's Latest Piece of Military Equipment From Israel



The removable helmet covering, known as a mitznefet in Hebrew, admittedly resembles a shower cap or a chef's hat but is said to be a potent piece of military gear. The flopping fabric is intended to obscure the familiar round shape of a soldier's helmet and protect against the light reflecting off the helmet's surface.

The Israeli Defense Forces introduced the mitznefet in 1994 but the covering is not really used elsewhere.

The use of the term could be traced back to the biblical Book of Exodus. It was employed to describe a turban worn by the Jewish high priests in the Temple of Jerusalem. The term is often mistranslated as a "clown's hat" but its root meaning is believed to come from the verb to wrap.

Ukraine's military will receive 20 mitznefet coverings in the near future, Zvezda asserted, citing Tzvi Arieli of the Kiev Jewish community.

The Ukrainian government has been persistently pushing Western countries to provide military aid, including offensive weapons, to suppress self-defense forces in the Donbass region. The US has already delivered Humvees, lightweight counter-mortar radar units, medical kits, night-vision goggles and Kevlar vests to Kiev.

Last time the dsa, some one told me that the ec725 was chosen partly also because it will operate on the mistral if we want it in the future. French guarantee a full workability if it is chosen

Why suddenly sg keluar. By right our closest ally is sg itself.

Everyone think indonesia is our closset ally just because we are both muslim majority country. Reality wise, we have always been on a tip top relationship with each other especially border issues.

If we have a mistral, we can always request sg to provide their formidable class for escort and long range defence. We have better chance of asking them then asking indonesia
