Based on the latest quarterly result attached for quarter ended 30/4/2015, the highway division make a loss of RM2m but still much more better than loss of RM9m for quarter ended 30/4/2014.

One of the reasons for loss was high finance cost, almost one third of group revenue used to service the borrowing.
Understand that this borrowing mainly for the construction of Silk Highway. Nevertheless, their revenue increased tremendously from RM22m in QE 30/4/14 to RM41m in QE30/4/15 that means more and more people used their road. tongue.gif

Silk only have 4 toll Plaza: Sungai Ramal, Sungai Balak, Bukit Kajang and Twin Palm Sungai Long...

The sudden surge of the revenue implies that more and more people actually migrate/commuting to Kajang / Semenyih / Bangi area, which serve as one of the most important highways for commuting within this area.

If taking RM 1 as average per vehicle, that's mean more than 40 million vehicles pass through these 4 toll plaza, or representing 3.3 million commuting traffic per month or more than 100 thousand per day..

Yup, the southern part of Greater KL is booming, if Silk is smart enough it should allow u-turn after toll with one way fee in order to encourage Sg Long & BMC residents to pay toll, nowdays both township use the highway at no cost unless they want to go south. tongue.gif

Understand from the website:

KAJANG SILK Highway, not only reduce traveling time for traffic between North and South of Kajang but also, makes to and from Kuala Lumpur, Cheras, Sg. Long and Balakong, Putrajaya, Semenyih, Bangi, KL International Airport and Seremban most convenient.

http://www.silk.my/about/about.html

To capture the KL bound road user which is much more than Semenyih bound and improve their bottom line Silk need to be more generous.

Lol... If Silk smart enough, just build a flyover near the exit and put toll booth there, guarantee another surge in the revenue next year.. tongue.gif tongue.gif

hehehe, depend "how smart" SILK could be..

By the way, if SILK allow a U-turn after the toll, wondering why Twin Palm want to build a tunnel instead?

Just make 2 U-turns, one before and one after already can serve the purpose, rather spending huge amount of money for digging the tunnel...

rclxms.gif Thanks for the details Palmwalker001! Yeah in the near future the revenue will definitely increase! Once Ecohill Link opens I am sure there revenue will increase further. It's a blessing in disguise for SILK Holdings Bhd when their deals with IHM falls out. rclxm9.gif

I think the initial intention to build the Twin palm tunnel is meant for Twin Palmians usage, but eventually it is open to everyone to use for U-turn purposes. So everyone needs to pay RM1 to use the tunnel to U-turn to SILK highway. biggrin.gif

That's why I am wondering if SILK wants to involve in such hassle since the currently available U-turn road just beside it..

Lol, basically there is only very little cost involved if allowed u-turn after toll with one way fee, it kill two birds with one stone ie improve traffic/profit/cash flow and relieve the pressure from a component party of Selangor government to demand u-turn before toll.

Compare to building a flyover after Bkt Sg Long exit, this proposal is much more cost effective and can be implemented in short time.
