After one/two years of itch and consideration, I've decided to join #ultrawidemasterrace
Currently aiming Acer Predator X34 for that ultrawide experience with 100Hz G-sync. Second choice Z35.

Only concern now is my GTX970 might only capable of 40-70fps with most game on X34's resolution. So I'm invest to future now biggrin.gif and hopefully upgrade GPU next year to truly enjoy it.

See if Lazada & Gemfive got good deal or not laugh.gif

If can wait better wait for x34p. Can swiwel, got joystick control and nicer back material matte and not mentioned more curve smile.gif
*
Currently predator X34 about RM4.3K before further discount, quite low if compare to US. Will the new X34P priced much higher ?
Those new addition/upgrade doesnt concern me much. Will the panel be same or newer better one drool.gif

The X34P will be using a newer panel compared to the X34, supplied by LG.

Here are some interesting news on what we can expect later part of this year
*
That 144Hz 3440x1440 IPS panel are quite tempting, but they estimate soonest we consumer able to get will be mid 2017 cry.gif

Why the local price for normal ( non G-sync, non freesync ) 1440P 34" monitor so high.

Predator X34 1199USD, while local price RM4299
Samsung/LG 34" curved 700USD+, while local price around RM4K or more sweat.gif

$1199 = RM4850 while in market here RM4299.. It's cheaper from last time I bought coz X34P is coming soon. Btw, X34 got GSync n 100hz OC.
*
That's why weird. The really good one like Predator X34 are cheaper, while normal one are much expensive. Donno what Bolehland logic biggrin.gif
Wonder if anyone have freesycn monitor ( at 75Hz ) + nVidia GPU combo. As I read in reddit, they said that combo causing frameskip at over 60Hz.

Trying to understanding pricing policies is almost like trying to unravel the mysteries of a Black Hole. An example of this is Acer's XB271HU, priced at RM3299 compared to Asus PG279Q which sells for RM4.2k+!
*
Hahaha damn it, 4.2K for 27" sweat.gif I know Asus always expensive, didnt know this crazy. I think I dont have much choice for good 34" G-sync monitor, so far I only know Acer Predator X34 and Asus ROG Shift 34 ( 5K price and no official warranty here I think ).

Didn't like the X34 because of the stand design makes wires visible. Minor gripe with the backside of X34 for the glossy, fingerprint magnet finish, although can really see it unless you look from the back.

Panel quality is virtually the same. This bangsawan loves the PG348Q because he likes that ROG logo projector, the back design, the menu system with joystick.

*I should be wearing my bangsawan title like a badge of honor tongue.gif *
*
That X34's base took up so much space are really annoying. Found one owner with the exact same table as mine, and he said the base cant even fit doh.gif the table ( as below ). I plan to remove the riser completely.

Look up that monitor arm's price in Amazon sweat.gif ultrawide path not for fainted heart biggrin.gif

QUOTE(stringfellow @ Jun 29 2016, 08:38 PM)
Yup. A 32" moving hand stand/riser works nice and clean. I love that if you use these type of stands the monitor looked like its floating. Very very clean look.

I wish I could have the habit of clean desk tongue.gif Always admire those clean desk with ultrawide monitor, DAC and nice speaker drool.gif

Here's an alternative, currently on Massdrop
X34 now RRP RM4299 with free Predator Headset
*
Cant wait tomorrow, ordered from Lazada already. Now hopes shopback ( 4% ) works, registered my 3rd acc ( both Lazada & shopback ) tongue.gif

Gemfive ( with coupon ) and ipmart are cheaper, but both dont have the free headset.

QUOTE(amirudin920927 @ Jun 29 2016, 10:21 PM)
Z35 so ugly. Thick bezel, its only 1080p.. But I think better u wait for X34P.. Coming soon, Q4 2016..
*
Actually I like Z35's base/feet design. Too bad the 1080P's dpi are even lower than my current 23" which I almost cant stand the pixel dpi anymore ( spoiled by those high dpi smartphone display )

Cant wait for another half year, and I'm expecting much higher price for X34P for it's improved display panel and minor improvement on design. TBH those new addition are nice but not essential for me.

you will never regret getting x34 or x34p smile.gif

Best you can get in high end league with good price

Certainly hope so, as far as I read in reddit/forum, almost all X34 owner are praising it.
One downside for getting X34 is that it will be brutal on my 970 sweat.gif

Regarding the X34...
Standard Refresh Rate  60 Hz
Tearing Prevention Technology  G-sync

How G-sync works with 60Hz ?
*
Forgot the exact technical terms, but basically G-sync technology will sync ( duh tongue.gif ) your GPU output and monitor's refresh rate. Tearing are caused by out-of-sync ( either GPU send frames too fast or too slow to monitor )

QUOTE(amirudin920927 @ Jun 30 2016, 02:00 AM)
I think X34P price same like X34 launched RM4599.. That's why X34 currently drop price + free gift.. LOL! If u don't mind about the features like more curved, swivel stand where u can change to aftermarket stand, joystick menu coz currently the button confused me so many times, n confirmed 100hz refrash rate,,, then u can buy X34 + free headphone..  thumbup.gif
Yep bro, no regret no returning back not even 4K! hahaha  cool2.gif
Standard refresh rate 60hz but all user so far got no problem OC it to 100hz.. Only some of the 1st batch that got unstable 100hz, but they can return to Acer.. Mine 2nd batch, working like charm  thumbup.gif
*
For now I think I could be happy just to elevated over to 75Hz, 100Hz sounds too delicious for me biggrin.gif

QUOTE(Vannus @ Jun 30 2016, 07:48 AM)
You need a minimum 980ti or 1070/80 to get the best out from x34.

As for 1440p 27in 16:9 or 34in 21:9 are the best to view like 2-3 feets away between the eye and the screen.

Same like 24in 16:9 1080p 2-3 feets too.

For 2160p better to get 32in 16:9 else it has no difference like 1440p 27in at the same viewing distance of 2-3feets. Our eyes cant diffentiate it, unless you want to sit like 1 feet between your eye and the screen, then yes 4k monitor is good for that at 28in. smile.gif thats why maybe acer 4k predator is much cheaper here. Its is build with wrong size and wrong resolution.

Correct me if im wrong
*
I certainly hopes ultrawide will kick off 16:9 4K in future and become the standard for high end market, currently seems like only popular among enthusiast, even some of #PCMasterRace friend recommend me to 28" ( 16:9 ) 1440P monitor.

I thought G-sync only benefit at >60Hz
*
I used to thought G-sync monitor are above 60Hz, but these day's research then only know apparently there's 60Hz 4K g-sync monitor.

QUOTE(stringfellow @ Jun 30 2016, 10:22 AM)
Any framerate within the G-sync window you get the G-sync benefit, outside of that window your system switches either to V-sync or no V-sync.

So if your G-sync monitor is rated up to 100Hz, get your frame rate from 35-100fps, any framerate higher than 100fps, your system switches to V-sync. V-sync introduced input lag, and halves the visible framerate. No V-sync? Hello tearing!

With all that in mind, you want to run your games with a lower fps than the panel refresh maximum, to stay within the G-sync window for it to take effect. If you have G-sync 60Hz panel, then run it below 60Hz, no point lowering resolution or image quality to get it screaming at 80 90 100 fps because you then lose the benefit of G-Sync. Same goes to whatever refresh rate other G-sync monitor uses: 60/75/100/144/165Hz, etc.
*
Are you saying that even with G-sync enabled, if framerate goes beyond G-sync monitor's max frequency, it will drop G-sync ? Then potentially tearing will reoccur eventhough we might not capable of seeing it with our eyes at such high framerate.

Found these monitor arms on Amazon that can ship to Malaysia, in case anyone is looking:

Locktek
AmazonBasics

FYI, an X34 without stand, weighs in at 9.9kg.
*
There's quite a lot more option that's cheaper and can send to Malaysia, but then Amazon's shipping cost aint cheap. I'll wait for my X34 arrival then see how.

What model? Why buy from those US websites though?
*
Quite a lot of LG model, if I remember correctly 500-1000USD. I only managed to find one or two here, and the price sweat.gif
Other like Dell HP Samsung's curved monitor that could be find here, also much cheaper ( below 1000USD ).

The only monitor that's cheaper here are the highest end like Acer predator and Asus ROG.

QUOTE(richard912 @ Jul 2 2016, 10:36 AM)
Also, please impute 6% for GST and this will be based on item price + shipping cost. Any savings could then evaporate. Only reason to buy online is when the item cannot be found here. Alternatively, one could venture south across the causeway.
*
That's the reason I gave up. After add up shipping and GST ( I forgot that earlier ), it's very near RM4K already, no point take the risk then.

I checked the price of Amazon for LG 34 inch curved and it is not cheap?
Do check out my sales thread though.. I bring in most if not all LG models.
I seem to be the only seller for LG curved but not much people come and ask also.. So, I was wondering if it's because my price too high or just Malaysian market small.
*
Not sure your price, but those older model 34" curved should be around 750-800USD, but then we're not at US cry.gif After add shipping and GST all those, price shakehead.gif

IHMO, market really tiny. If one need large screen entertainment solution will go high end TV, gamer go 144Hz monitor. People willing to pay this stupid high price for monitor, are enthusiast.

Regarding LG, I think because most of their ultrawide arent for gaming.
