ah so the 18 is old and 20 is newer.

I am afraid i might regret if getting X34P at 100Hz and AW3420DW at 120Hz. so it seems that LG 34GK950F is the only 144Hz. may i ask u all pro gamers which is really suitable for my game genre as i mostly play racing games and first person shooters. GPU on mind is Zotac Gaming GeForce RTX 2080 Super Triple Fan. I really want to get the monitor asap as i just went to Ikea to get my desk yesterday and will be delivered by today.
*
From some youtube or user feedback, most gamers should be fine up to 75/100Hz. 144Hz or higher are mostly for professional CS-GO player.

Maybe I too noob, but I play FPS and racing games on my x34 100Hz, 1070 ti GPU so mostly 70fps ( possibly dip lower at times ). No issue for me to enjoy.
You can still get it, because with 144Hz monitor, doesn means you die die must all the time run 144fps. It's perfectly fine for games to run at fps lower than highest refresh rate.

Any programmers here? Still thinking between lg and acer, would you choose 1090p + cutves or 1440p but flat? The games I played are auto chess, league and some emulations.
*
I'm not programmer now ( studied IT in college ), but I throw question back to you.

Do you want prefer high DPI high contrast during coding ( more lines, compact font ),
or you want more relaxed view ?

In college, when coding, I prefer more lines, compact font size etc.
My bro who is programmer, prefer more relax view. He use dual TV as monitor. TV usually have lower DPI/PPI

For me, 1440P 34" are minimum I can accept. 1080P on 32/34/35 just too grainy/pixelated to me.
Easy way to know if you can 'tahan' the DPI or not, is comparing 27" 1440P and 27" 1080P because 34" are basically much wider 27"

My pc parts are on the way. GPU is Zotac RTX 2080 Super Amp Core RGB. Now just hook up my Mac mini to check out the monitor. Once u try ultrawide there is no turning back like all bro here mentioned. Hehe.

Hi, some advice for below 4K UHD monitor purchase as currently in dilemma due to each of them do have some missing features....hahaha

1) Viewsonic VX3211-4K-MHD
2) Benq EW3270U 4K HDR
3) Samsung LU32J590UQEXXM
4) LG 27UL850-W
5) Dell Ultrasharp U2720Q
6) LG 27UL600-W

It seem like only Samsung come with both PIP and PBP while Viewsonic do have PIP only whereas all others model miss out this wish to have feature.

Anyone know why Samsung 4K UHD monitor missing the HDR capability which kind of common or basic feature for others brand?  Is this miss out did impacted much on display quality especially gaming and video playback?

Eye Care sound like massive hard sell by Benq and Viewsonic but is this low bluelight or eyecare only marketing gimmick or really did served the purpose?

LG 27UL850-W and Dell Ultrasharp U2720Q do provide USB-C PD 60/90W charging for laptop or mobile devices and Dell never come with any freesync.

Most above list come with thin bezel except Benq or Viewsonic which kind of >1cm, prefer thin but not so bad  for 1cm+ model.

My usage as usual laptop extended display for work, own 4K laptop connection for video watching and ensure good freesync for upcoming new console even HDMI 2.1 4k@ 120hz sound like never provide by all above list yet but at least freesync with 4K capability.

Thx

maybe diff ppl different reaction towards ultrawide. somehow i am very prone to dizziness on fps games lately.

in this case, may as well stick back to my 27''.

btw what is the distance between you and the monitor during gaming?
*
QUOTE(khelben @ Aug 24 2020, 10:38 AM)
About an arm's length. I do get dizziness in FPS, but not all. In fact, probably just 2 that I can think of. Soldier of fortune, and Half Life. laugh.gif

wow, my 34" are way further away, measured now, 90cm away from my head.
On previous table, way too near to me and not too comfortable for me.

IKEA bekant, depth 80cm. Using monitor arm to push as far as possible. The stock monitor ( Acer predator 34" ) stand's base are huge and force the monitor itself much nearer to me, too near till I'm uncomfortable.

Doesnt looks huge in photo due to ultrawide angle. but main monitor 34", vertical 23"

Nice setup you have there!
My desk depth is only 60cm, im worried that would be too close for 34" monitor.
After placing the monitor, i would have quite limited space for my keyboard
hmm.gif
*
With the stock monitor base, yeah. I think no issue to use keyboard, just that you cant store it deep in, or say you want eat maggie sup on computer table biggrin.gif

Usually they dont quote ultrawide monitor size. I just refer to weight it can support. Which this, almost reach max load on my predator x34

If can top up or save up, IMO worth do it. As long it's within your 'mental' limit biggrin.gif

Monitor are long term investment, my x34 how many years already, I still dont felt like need change/upgrade.
It did took me almost one year of struggle to decide if dump that amount into monitor, but no regret biggrin.gif

Some youtuber tested before, normal gamer, cant even differentiate 100/120/144Hz, if even you can differentiate it, your mind/hand not fast enough to response to it sad.gif

I kinda agreed, as I'm perfectly fine with current 100Hz, I think 70Hz above I'm good already, maybe G-sync help also.

I'm more interested at nVidia's new tech to lower latency.

I think boil down to the games people play, and their budget, and understanding of what's really available in the market right now to get their preferred monitor. If I'm bangsawan I'll definitely swap the Acer with the new Samsung C9 32:9 LOL
I recently got an ICC profile from TFTCentral for my X34A and run the settings from there and I like the colour. It'll be better if I have a colorimeter.
*
If bangsawan, get LG C9 OLED TV, or those Big Format Gaming TV brows.gif

Hi all, planning to upgrade to an ultrawide. need some recomendations  notworthy.gif
monitor requirements:
- great color accuracy
- 144hz
- min 34 inch
- 3440x1440
- g-sync?(is it worth it to get a g-sync for ultrawides?) have never tried g-sync monitors before this nor g-sync compatible but heard that g-sync > g-sync compatible
budget around 4-5k.
*
I think 'real' g-sync are good, I tried before, play games at 40fps with and without g-sync, with g-sync it's more tolerable.

I don't think there is 3440x1440 + 144Hz + Gsync + IPS monitor.

3440x1440 + Gsync + IPS + 120Hz
Acer X34P
Asus PG349Q
Alienware AW3420DW
Alienware AW3418DW

3440x1440 + Gsync + IPS + 200Hz
Acer X35
Asus PG35VQ

3440x1440 + 144Hz (or higher) + IPS + Gysnc Compatible
Acer XV340CKP
LG 34GN850

3440x1440 + 144Hz + VA + Gsync Compatible
Xiaomi 34"
Coolermaster GM34-CW
AOC CU34G2X
Gigabyte G34WQC
MSI MPG34CQR
Viotek GNV34DBE
*
I'll take these, there's little difference between 120Hz and 144Hz aside from bragging right ? biggrin.gif

Yeah, 100-144 is little difference, same for 120-160.
I think can see difference for 100/120-180 but need a very capable GPU too. I can only do 60 with my 1080Ti hahaha
*
Maybe I'm old ( 35 ) and cant keep up, but personally for me, anything above 75Hz I'm perfectly happy and felt smooth enough.

1080ti still better than 1070ti what biggrin.gif
plan for 3070 upgrade next month hmm.gif

QUOTE(NoNameForMe @ Oct 30 2020, 02:18 PM)
guys, im currently using 1070ti on 34 inch FHD monitor. Feel like gaming wise, im okay with the quality alongside the FPS (60 is acceptable to me). However, i feel like anything other than gaming, FHD is abit on the low side of picture sharpness.

So, if i were to upgrade to 2k monitor, general browsing and movies, will be a better experience without doubt. However, im worried on the gaming performance. Its either i can lower the setting or i can play in a non native resolution right? anyone in this similar situation mind to share abit on your experience? is playing 1080p on 2k monitor really that bad? i have seen people saying its really bad some say its acceptable. I know its up to personal preference but is bad really that bad?
*
I die die must native resolution, rather have lower graphic setting, or sometimes I dont mind higher setting but lower fps ( depends on games really ).
BTW I'm using 1070ti and 34" 3440x1440 and yeah many many new game only get 40fps and maybe not max setting. Plan to upgrade 3070 soon.
