My goodness, just read that you rent room with 560. Must be earning a lot. haha
Rental in singapore is not really that high as expected if you willing to take time o find and dun mind stay with owner. Take time to find more than you can get the price shawnlst get.

nah...save the hard earn money at S'pore n get it back at M'sia~~

ohh yeah recruitment agency do earn commission from successful jobs? or they will take certain amount from your pay?

Once u gets hire at S'pore, will u be under the agency account or the co. account ?  when the pay slip arrive...straight to agency then route back to u?
*
1) if they manage secure a job for u, they will earn commision from employer and not you, no need to worry.

2) you can be under agency or company. depends what job you get.
If under agency, mean u r outsource to the company but employ by agency. So your payslip is under agency name
if direct employerment from the company, then ur payslip is under company name.

be carefull of the starting date, you might end up paying 15% tax to the singapore government if you stay less than 183 days in singapore for a year

wow 2 yrs experience + 3 yrs bond...
emm not too good i think
Where i have no idea how is the wages pay there but i though there are some rules and guidance where the law of employee deserved some standard pay

Where I have 2 yrs exp but some chinaman co. offer me 2.5k only sigh minus logging left abit only...

well~ never know ~

but s'poreans love to have contract stuff i wonder y?
*
Singapore has their own salary market compare malaysia, you can't just assume what you get in msia will be same in singapore.
Some fields is higher salary than msia and some is lower.

2 yrs exp offer 2.5k? For me I think reasonable. If you think you worth more than it, just continue look for job until you get a pay that u think reasonable.

PS: if you getting job through agency, you can check with them how much is your market value in singapore with the experience you have.

Woodland room rent $350,
Yishun $400.

Anyone can help justify which location i shud go for. Tight budget now. Work in Raffles P.
*
Yishun is nearer for you to go raffles by MRT. Anyway woodlands is just 3 extra station away, not too much different

I dun feel the living expenses in singapore is dam high. My earning is not that high, at least not hit the amount you mention. I still can living quite comfortably in singapore with my pay and have some saving. May be definition of the comfortable life for everyone is different.

Flats here are very expensive, minimum SGD300k for a decent 3 rooms flat. 3 rooms mean 2 bedroom and one living room (Yes, a living room is consider a room ).

*
3 Room flat does not need till SGD300k unless those center of city and has a very strategic location.
I will say it will cost like around average SGD200k-250k for more accurate. Some a bit far like Yishun, woodland may cost less than 200k. Anyway, its still very expensive tongue.gif

You no need to be in singapore and S'pore contact number to get a job.
Those 2 above only increase your chance but not a must.

Open an account with Maybank Malaysia and Maybank Singapore.

Then use Maybank2u.com to transfer money from the Sg account to the Malaysian one. It costs S$10 for each transaction (max S$10,000 per transaction). Takes 2 working days for the money to credit. Cheaper than any bank to bank TT via swift.

The other option is to also have a Maybank account in each country, and then use your ATM card to withdraw from the Sg account at a Malaysian ATM. It's S$2 per withdrawal. I can't remember the max per transaction though, but it will be a couple of K at the most.
*
I am not very sure about the exchange rate given by bank but bank always provide lower rate compare money changer.
Normally I am using money changer remittance services to transfer my money into malaysia maybank account. I try ask bank before the remittance service provide by bank is using lower rate and higher services charges.
Remittance charges is always SGD10 per transaction no matter how much money you transfer.

I always do remittance at Jurong Point as there is so many banks there for you to withdraw before you do the remittance. POSB/DBS is just at entrance of Jurong Point. OCBS is just few shop away from the money changer and they always open late as I notice their counter is crowded after office hour.

The money changer also accept cash cheque but I never use it before as I haven't really remit bunch of money. tongue.gif I wun say this money changer rate is highest but the rate provide is quite high compare some others but It is very convenient for me as very near to MRT and no need transfer using bus.

Even the money changer shop is small, but in order to do money changes or remittance, you need to get a queue number like bank and sometime if too many ppl, u can input ur HP number so you will get SMS notice when there is 5 more number until your turn while you do shopping there.

I will not take money to JB as it is quite risky.

Even sg government claims 65% hawker center food haven't increase price for past 9 month, but in fact my surrounding more than 70% stall already increase their price.

I think if you plan to stay in sg for long term, getting a flat is a better option rather than rent from ppl. Dun think the sg flat is a good investment.
