it depends on your usage. if it's for gaming mostly, maybe not worth it.

as an example, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQVy9rYg1xw

if it's for work, maybe the upgrade helps. just maybe.

Hi, I have an important question to ask.

I have an Alienware Desktop. Recently my PC freeze and restart often, sometimes blue screen, sometimes even by sitting idle, but most of the time when playing games.

I have done all the online recommended measures like update driver, etc but still the same. So I suspect is hardware problem. I have done the diagnostic test, even several times the PC freeze when I tried to run long tests, but I managed to do individual test for each component and found out there is no problem.

So I suspect it's the PSU problem. I kind of feeling the PSU is failing. As the symptoms become more frequent (from once a month, once a week to everyday now).

My questions:

1) Is my diagnosis correct?

2) How to replace PSU for Alienware? I'm out of warranty, can I call Dell and pay them?

Thanks. Help me please.

P/S my pc is Alienware Area51 R2
PSU is Alienware™ 1500 Watt Multi-GPU Approved Power Supply

1. you should tell us more about your diagnostics. it could be psu; it could be cpu overheating. i assumed you have run epsa diagnostics and it crashed during the process. have you done a clean install or refresh your windows os?
2. for psu replacement, you can try extend the warranty; or get a replacement psu from the internet and replace it yourself; or ask someone like putochip123 to help.

yes better observe for a bit. if for some reasons it comes back, try re-apply thermal paste first. (at the same time do some cleanup for the cooler and relevant parts also)

I'm using the AW13 R3, not the R2 like in the pics. No you cannot play all games at max high setting for next 5 years, that's unrealistic. Not even the AW15 with 1070.

What i can say is that you'll enjoy gaming with it for the next 5 years.
