You can try not to launch games, but only the Nvidia Control Panel with the 3D logo turning. I believe it will crash too.

I think something is wrong with your graphics card. Might be already Pseudo Soldering. I face this with my AMD HD7970m before. The laptop was all ok unless I launch some 3D application it will crash and restart.

Reball your graphics card might help you to solve the issue for a while. But the problem will come back.

Change a new graphics card is the only way to solve this issue.

hmm.. ok, you can try another way to verify the issue. play your games with battery only. Call of duty or bioshock. See will it crash or not. If it will not. that mean you are facing same problem that I stated just now. And the crash will only happen when the card run at highest clock speed and load.

Guys would this be the place to download all the needed drivers for my M15x, as I'm about to change my broken HDD, so I'm guessing I need the drivers from that page as people tend to say not to use the drivers from the DVD.

Plus I wasn't sure what version of my BIOS was running before this. Is this gonna affect anything? Hopefully it won't brick my motherboard.

And there tons of stuff in there, probably will have to take a look at which hardware am I using just to find the correct drivers to download.

Yes, but always remember don't install old Alienware Command Center from the resource disk. Else you'll lost your light effect. Always install the latest Alienware Command Center that is support M15x from Dell website.

Safe yes. To preserve battery wear level, make sure always plugin to power. As simple as that.

Well, it has been awhile since I booted up my M15x due to the faulty HDD, and till recently I'd only had the chance to get a replacement HDD for it.

So after installing the new HDD, tried to boot it up and install a copy of windows, but all the screen did was go from black to white constantly, but there were like 1 or 2 flickers where I could see what's going on, and back to a full white screen.

Did some searching and thought maybe the ribbon was loose and tried to make sure it was tightly connected. Rebooted it again and managed to see the Alienware logo and options for boot menu and all. Managed to get into the BIOS and fiddle around for a bit thinking that the problem was resolved, but not long after in the BIOS, it turned back to a piece of white again.

So faulty ribbon/wire to LCD or something else? Replacing that is gonna be tough is it? icon_question.gif

Is that mean you can't even see the "Alien head"?

In BIOS screen, is basically white in whole time?
