Bad noises for US EQ and the rest of the world? hmm.gif

Yellen cites 'potential dangers' in U.S. stock valuations

(Reuters) - Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen on Wednesday said high equity valuations could pose potential dangers but that stability risks across the U.S. financial system remained in check.

"I would highlight that equity market valuations at this point generally are quite high," Yellen said. "There are potential dangers there."

......Another potential trouble spot that Yellen pointed out was low long-term interest rates, which could spike as the Fed normalizes its policy, causing disruption across the financial system.

“When the Fed decides it’s time to begin raising rates, these term premiums could move up and we could see a sharp jump in long-term rates.

......Yellen also noted concerns about potential liquidity problems facing certain asset-managers should they face a wave of redemptions.

Hello sifus,

I am thinking to increase my exposure on China equities, it has been bullish for a while but China market is getting sluggish overall. Did I missed the party or it is still fine to throw myself into it?

Cheers sifus!

see page# 15, post# 295...then decide after taking into consideration of
do you have a portfolio of funds?
does your portfolio needs more China?
what is your current % allocation in China? (Do includes % from Asia X Jpn funds if you have them)
is the current % enough?

hmm.gif was just wondering where did the TAXES fits into this equation...
value of the total assets in the fund should be more BEFORE the taxes given to gomen during distribution....therefore if no distribution no need to pay taxes then more value in asset, right?
now my mind start to get confused..... rclxub.gif

I thought there is no tax imposed on investment income?

I am currently at about 65% equity funds and 35% bond funds. Time to re-allocate my bond funds into equity funds.

Human nature is such, even if you design a very stable portfolio that sits right at the most optimum point on the efficient frontier giving the best risk optimised return... they will still be not happy.

By nature we want to have some unknown, it excites our soul, it tickles our brain... in short, it allows us to be human. It shows our curiosity and willingness to embrace risk and adventure. It is coded into our DNA.

So, take some money and gamble at it... it is good for the soul!

p/s

I just checked my portfolio and my sexy fund is down around 4% from my average buying price (I DCA into sexy over a course of 3 mths liao), with its 1xStd-Dev of 18%, so there is still room for it to drop further. However, I am betting it may swing 18% upwards sometime in the future. Sexy constitute 15% of my equity portfolio at the moment. So a 4% drop of 15% is only 0.6% of my portfolio.
