I hope the Beastmen will be FLC for the main campaign. I don't usually care for mini campaigns though obviously I will buy them all during Steam sales once they reach 75% off. biggrin.gif

Just wondering, I've got about 1k+ to spend extra to spend this month for upgrades. Should I get the GPU first or CPU+MOBO+Ram first ? hmm.gif

I'm more inclined to get the GPU first because while I may not gain much fps wise upgrading from R7 260X to RX 480 (or R9 380X) at least the game will look much prettier. tongue.gif

On the other hand, getting i3-6100 and mobo plus RAM leaves me bit extra for an SSD which may help a bit in load time etc.

Anyway, I've read somewhere that you wont have much gain from i5 compared to i3 using dx12 (at least for Warhammer) especially if you're using mid rage GPU or less.

That said, I'm only looking for a stable min 30 fps. More than that is a bonus.

Hmmm> i would say your system begins with your cpu. I havent been following the development of new CPU, but Im qute sure the i3 is weak in multithreading situations. It's much better than older i3's but... how much extra would you be paying for an i5?

Min 200 but I would rather get i3 now and maybe upgrade to i7 in couple years when got good offer in garage sales. 😃

In any case dx12 will move most of thr workload from cpu to gpu so tjere wont br much differrent between i3 and i5 since games wilk see both as having 4 threads. Difference will be base on cpu speed so higher clocked i3 might theoritically be faster than lower clocked i5. I see some benchmark which disable the ht for i7 in dx12 which shows fsp as almost similar with same speed i5.

how much is the R9 380X price now, still about 1k? hmm.gif if still 1k might as well get the Zotac 970 dual fan RM1029/1099 for AMP! EXtreme Core that was on promo, dunno still got stock onot. used 970 should be less than 1k after 1060/480 fully available.

the 970 will still do playable FPS in DX12, if not still can use dx11. its raw performance should be enough for >30FPS at Ultra 1080p.

just the benchmark on dx12 beta: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pIRrkIlSCTM avg 60fps, Ultra FXAA benchmark with some options like DoF off.

it will do better with i7 as TW:W is cpu dependant on core clock freq, number of cores, even HT helps.

i3-6100 should be roughly around the AMD FX 8350, with i3 better on single core perf.

i would personally wait for the custom card perf of RX480/1060 for DX12 but since most games still have dx11 option to fall back to it's not a big deal. and since the price exceed 1k budget, 970 would be the better bet.

or you could upgrade your cpu/mobo/ram but it doesnt get you much better FPS. i3 is ok if on a tight budget, and if you're gonna upgrade to i7 down the road. i think can save quite a bit if can find used skylake i3, RAM/SSD.

Quite a bit of ways you could do that. But personally I prefer the copy folder and uninstall reinstall in new directory method.

Copy and paste to SSD (Keep the copy in the hdd just in case).

Delete from Steam library and reinstall it via Steam also. Steam will re-discover the game. There is a risk that you may have to re-download the game as well.

Rename the steam folder. Uninstall steam. The reinstall to new folder. Copy game data.

I would like to know, if install os and steam to ssd but game data on hdd, will the load time take advantage too?

Both my hdd are old already so I plan to get small ssd for os. If it helps a bit then probably just get an sshd for game data.

Nvidia will be good if i get i5/i7 since their dx11 performance are better. Since i'll primarily be using i3 for maybe a long time then i'll stick with amd since their dx12 is better. Dx12 gives better fps stability compared to dx11.

Yes.

If you install both OS and Steam (client only) on SSD there will be some benefits.

Steam will appear to load faster and more responsive.

Anyone using skylake with ddr3 ? I'm thinking of getting ddr3 board so that I can use my old ram but heard that ddr3 may cause problems with i5 skylake.

I previously read that only specific DDR3 Ram can be used by Skylake.

Better of just getting the value DDR4 Ram.

Remember the link? I'm hoping if I can use my old ram temporarily thrn I can get bigger SSD. Now my budget only allow 120 GB SSD. Or rather than get the H seties mobo, I can go for B series mobo as DDR3 board is slightly cheaper.

My y plan now are :

i3-6100
Asus H110-K
8 GB ddr4 ram
120 gb ssd

Going to reuse my PSU and the 2 hdd. Maybe i'll get new casing too. Budget not more than 1200 though base on viewnet price i can get slightly below 1100 for the above.

I think skylake does not officially support ddr3 due to lower voltage. Those ddr3 boards for skylake are supposed to be used with ddr3L, lower voltage RAM.

I decided to go skylake and ddr4. Got skylake that support ddr3 but not the type of ram that I have. Once I build my new rig, how much can I get to sell my old cpu + mobo + ram ?

Anyway, anyone here preordered the Beastmen? I guess I'm gonna pass this first as I still haven't played VC, Chaos and Greenskin. Maybe wait until year end sale la before I buy or if I finish those 3 campaigns earliet and have the urge to play more sooner. Right now I'm also trying to complete The Last Roman and Umayyad of Cordoba on Attila.
