Quite disappointed in the options for recessed downlights for Apple Homekit; wanted tunable white (not RGB) with bright enough wattage but it looks like we can only choose between Garnea Hue (max 10.5w with 900 lumens) or Zemismart (but no Zigbee).
Can any sifu recommend other good recessed downlights that can pair with apple homekit?
Zemismart is probably available here, but I'm slightly confused if it can operate with Zigbee other than Wi-Fi. Would it work if I get the Zemismart Homekit Hub?
That would be a good alternative since you can add any zigbee device (as long it’s listed in the zemismart compatible list) Other than surveying for more homekit lights or converting any tuya downlight with native homekit firmware.
Exactly, on sale its like $18 which is merely RM85, but here cheapest I could find is 149 and that is the US plug version, some even selling for 200+ to 279+ for the US version lmao
Check sales at woot.com (sell stuff from amazon) Even cheaper there for the speakers
I upgraded to the new architecture about a month ago, so far no issues. Very happy with HKSV performance (cameras through Scrypted), I am just waiting for some dev to come with ability to create dummy apple homekey locks so that i can buy one that best suits my needs.
I noticed there's a few plugins available with scryped for the usual camera brand (hikvision/daihua etc) Could any other generic brand work? Like sricam or other china brand that doesn't expose rtsp port
Thats great! I just feel sayang that if i update to the new architecture to get matter, then my iMac and iPad Air and iPhone 6 Plus would be out of service for homekit.
How is it out of service for homekit? I just know the ipad can't use as as home hub starting ios 16
Alright bro. Thank you. But i still nid a wall smart switch to run rite?
2 ways with smart lights
1) use normal switch, switch permanently on. Cover the switch so nobody else accidentally turned it off. Use wireless zigbee switch/knob to control the lights
2) use smart wall switch that comes with detached relay feature.
Yup I have one of those too. They're branded as Neo sometimes. I have the neo, which in itself is a rebranded Zemismart. They work exactly the same and look the same too. If this neo was available earlier I would get this over the Zemismart, as this is much cheaper
Nice, your NEO hub is using wireless or wired network? Thinking of getting one just to get tuya lock working with HA
I see, I've been trying to integrate my Tuya items. What I have are BLE GU10 bulbs, which I gave up, I just used the Tuya Web plugin and expose the scenes. So that's how I control those lights...
Now that I gotten the Smatrul Wi-Fi to play around... wasn't successful to connect via the Tuya LAN plugin. Sigh.
Oh right, I think the IOT dev is just to get the local key, and with local key you then can do local control. But somehow I kept getting UDP errors, not sure is it because I'm hosting my homekit on synology (and not sure if its a docker ._.) But I Don't see the homebridge folder inside the docker.
The flickering issue with smartrul gu10, is it like 1 bulb only or all of them like that? I have gu10 from ewelink and tuya never had those problems.
As for the tuya iot, you could just replace the firmware (wifi version) with esphome/openbeken with cloudcutter and use mqtt plugin instead
All tuya homekit hubs are Ethernet only, it seems they can only make them wired. None that wireless. So I have them next to my router and mesh repeaters. Abit of a bummer actually
I see, so wired connection is a must to get homekit working.
Any guide on how to do this firmware flashing? so if I get it to esphome, I could do native homekit?
This covers it
As long as your device firmware is not in this firmware list, you can flash custom firmware via ota without teardown/soldering.
Not quite, you still need esphome plugin for homebridge if you're not familiar with esphome, can install openbeken firmware and use mqtt plugin instead.
For native homekit, that might require some hardware modification but need to check your device first.
Anyone automating their curtains with generic or particular branded zigbee smart curtain with z2m in HASS? What to do if the particular model is not supported in z2m?
Am prepping my mini server before migrating it all into the new home. Just want to make sure everything i am planning for is working, getting different kinds of zigbee devices and testing them out.
Thanks.
Which one you’re planning to get? Silent enough during operation? I think can use some zigbee quirks if not supported yet
Hi. My Smartul smart plug is showing red light. I tried reset wifi by pressing 5 seconds it does not blink. I long press 10 seconds also no effect. any other way to reset?
Using zigbee or wifi version? Relay still working?
I also configure HA to expose all entities including HomeKit controller entities back to Apple HomeKit
Ok nice, so no need to get homepod/apple tv Just need to get zigbee tuya lock working with HA since there's still no working solution for zha/z2m. Even the bt lock integration is a bit sketchy.
