QUOTE(xerofear @ Mar 23 2021, 09:49 AM) Hi all. Need some help for upgrading office to be "smart" office. For now, planning to migrate light switches and Fan coil ac to smart platform. for fan/air-conditioning just buy IR controller such as Broadlink RM4.Plan is to use products that play well with amazon Alexa(prefer this)/Google home. Light switches most probably using tuya/lutron/broadlink(anything else?) As for ac, not sure what can accommodate fcu. Prefer if can do multispeed(1,2,3) control based on room temperature. Any products that suit my case? Will attach fcu controller pic in a bit buy the bundle too, eg temperature/humidity sensor then use the Alexa to centralized all the IoT and create routine/rule for it PS: stick with single brand if u prefer sonoff then buy this brand all the way, other wise u will have too many account. |

QUOTE(alucard89 @ Apr 14 2021, 10:51 AM) Hey guys, any recommendation for pir sensor? just for u to compare... my room, I use smart switch with Alexa, no smart sensor here. And create routine in Alexa. Just wanna have it quickly turn on lights in the room/bathroom I read review for tuya wifi pir sensor could take like 10 seconds to turn on lights once motion detected Is xiaomi any better? Or zigbee type have better response time 1. Every time I go in the room, I just speak Alexa, I am home. β Turn on room light, turn on air-conditioning, turn on exhaust fan for 1minutes. 2. Routine on every weekday morning alarm 8am, or speak Alexa Good Morning on weekend. β Turn on room light, turn on bathroom light, switch off air conditioning, play Spotify 3. Speak Alexa Good Night βSwith off all light This post has been edited by lucaswjk: Apr 14 2021, 02:41 PM |

on another notes, I used both PIR and Microwave sensor for my other bathroom light. both work excellent, no lag... but got 2 major issues.
1. Need tuning on sensor height, sometime it is too sensitive or not sensitive in triggering the switch. Hard to tune and not stable. 2. While u r taking dump motionless, the light will turn off itself. Motion sensor is good... if u have kids or disabled tenants. it also helps if u always forget to switch off the light... QUOTE(cdspins @ Aug 10 2021, 11:41 AM) What is the purpose of the motion sensors... to turn on light? Where will the light be installed? Indoor or outdoor? How will it interface with your system, through WIFI (smart) or directly connected to the light? don't buy cheap China made...In my neighborhood, one of my neighbor uses this. It seems quite reliable. At night, when I walk pass, the light turns on immediately https://shopee.com.my/PHILIPS-MOTION-SENSOR...AiABEgLUpPD_BwE I bought 5units, 4units burned in 6months to a year. my last unit is the last spare that I gave up |

QUOTE(cdspins @ Apr 6 2022, 03:48 PM) Do you mean install 2 smart-locks? one on the grill door and then another one on the inner wooden door? it is nornal for all msia house to hv 2doors. --- >>also will it be weird to combo it with smart lock for the wooden door? It is not weird but it just show that you are rich --- >>it is possible to combine both of them? >>eg: unlock the drill door will auto unlock the wooden door? My poor understanding is that if you only want to use the lock once? why install 2 locks? the wooden door and the steel gate. the reason i ask, it is because i plan to go keyless. if u install snart lock for either one... the other door will need to use key |

QUOTE(cdspins @ Apr 8 2022, 02:32 PM) I do understand some house usually in older area have this grill things... even for the windows. ehh actually new house also got ppl add the grill.Technically It all depend on the features of smartlock but from what I know, if the smartlock support remote unlock through hub, then there should be no problem to link the 2 smartlocks. But actually my question previously is more of a conceptual/opinion discussion >>My poor understanding is that if you only want to use the lock once? why install 2 locks? If you have 2 or multiple doors that unlock automatically after 1 another, is there added security? One may argue that what if some guy break-in and 2nd door is a buffer.... but your first lock and alarm system should provide defense against it at the first place. and if you uses same token, card system, passcode to unlock both smart lock or automatically unlock from status of 1st smart lock, then the additional smart lock is of no security use theoretically. if u r the authorized person with correct "key/pin/token", one key is enuf to open both door. this is true for both real physical key or keyless. and if someone without the key, they still need to break both door. unless they got hold of ur key. |

QUOTE(Skylinestar @ Apr 8 2022, 11:31 PM) I'm looking for an infrared to wifi/network device. My ceiling fan is a typical KDK type with basic remote. I want to control it with Android. From my past experience, it can only control on-off. No control of the fan speed which I need most. Can modern devices do that now? seem like u going to use more than 1 apps to control all ur devices.I'm currently using the Smart Life app with my smart switch. Hoping to expand the devices in this eco system. my tips: use alexa, google home or home assistant to integrate all different brand of devices. ps i use alexa and abandoned home assistant, too lazy to reserch on the integration. |
