*
never heard of it, tried to google n youtube it.

if u choose this, u going to have hard time integrate it other IoT.

stick with the standard, Google Home, Amazon Alexa or Home Assistant

Zigbee compatibility between vendors is not good, almost impossible for multiple vendors work together to make their own devices compatible to each other.

Matter is designed to make all future IoT devices to work together.

Thread is another protocol similar to zigbee but based on IP, it intends to replace zigbee/z-wave due to standardization and multiple vendors support

i wont locked myself with this proprietary protocol,
wifi all the way!!!~
and you even need to use their hub...

tuya have many manufacturers...
and not all offered the same quality.
i read some of it broke easily especially for non neutral.

i personally like sonoff and been using it for few years.
but it lacked of choices..
eg smart lock, curtains, cctv, power plug etc etc

for this reason, im currently considering tuya as well

Good thing is sonoff still using esp while tuya migrated to beken chips.
The average user probably won’t care about it but for people who wants complete localized control with custom firmware it’s a big deal
*
unfortunately nope... it didnt seem easy

For controlling higher power devices, u can wire the smart switch to 'contactor'. Its function like a relay.
Smart switch power the relay, the relay power the device (ex: pump/heater)

Im going to power my water pump this way because the switch is upstairs. (Currently need to go up to switch on pump)
With smart switch can power from anywhere (app or HA interface downstairs)
*
i m planning for water pump too.
this is what i thought... no need switch.
just need to install Sonoff Basic next to the water pump.

My only concerned, do we leave it On 24/7?
or only switch it On when needed?

I have the touch version, so far all good.
Also, they seem to still work without capacitor or neutral (wifi version)
Last time they still have esp chips on board so you can flash custom firmware on it
*
thanx... then i will go for this brand 😁
as for flashing, how to know it is using esp chip?

and mind to explain how it works without capacitor and neutral?
does it powerup like the Test Pen?

Aiya.... Install first and 2nd switch ok. After install 3rd smart switch, it cause 1st switch to trip mcb. All looped neutral from aircond switch next to it. All 3 switch different mcb in DB...

Now i dismantle the 1st switch live and neutral cable without connecting to switch also cannot on back its mcb liao. Keep tripping the mcb.

Dont know what went wrong there.
*
is ur house running 3phase electric?
coz u said u have different mcb...

i think your neutral is different for the aircon...
it is not the same as the live one....

You’re flashing sonoff switchman?
Since the uart you got is female cable, get male to male dupont, tape 1 row of cable then just push and hold on the pads when you’re flashing
*
no la... pix is example only.
wont get switchman, coz it didnt have rf433 radio.

actually i have spare TX T3, i planned to try flash tasmota.
mana tau missing the connector pin.
next week will get the male 2 male dupont...

yesterday before i execute my shoping cart,
i saje go research abit before the actual purchase.
mana tau i found the switch might be using Realtek chipset.
