Mind to elaborate more on this?
Currently doing house Reno, so wiring for the Aircond will be new.
*
disclaimer: I'm not expert, my argument is based on logic

sonoff
1. basically hv A(amp) rating, mean it hv limit to power delivery
2. ur aircon is basically a power hungry monster, it need a lot of power (amp) during start up... it hv sudden Huge power drag tendency. back to (1) fact, mean ur device getting burn is high.
3. u sure ur sonoff hv high quality in manufacturing? surge protection? lighting protection?

aircon
1. it need graceful shutdown it compressor.
2. it need to store power before it start the compressor, refer to the huge power drag tendency (2)

better invest on smart switch rather than smart light...
why: u can use conventional led light (cheaper)

Get this from Aliexpress or Taobao.
Can connect via eWeLink app or flash custom firmware on it. Need to install a capacitor though on one of the gang load.
*
I hv been wondering how they managed to get the switch to power up,
hahaha rupa²nya capacitor is the trick...

btw I read somewhere around page 90+...
someone mention if we use the neutral line for the switch, after sometime the switch will intermittently not working.

🤔 so... to pull the neutral line or not to pull?

guys, I jus ordered sonoff t3...
I noticed they hv power output limit to 2A

is it possible for it to power my exhaust fan with 0.05hp?

and actually I found this formula online
Amps = (Horsepower × 746) ÷ Efficiency ÷ Volts
any idea what is the average or normal efficiency value?

currently i own
1. rpii with HA (i know it is not recommended, but this is just trial)
2. broadlink rm4 pro
3. sonoff tx 3gangs
4. alexa

first i skip the HA, im haven't learn the tedious config.
and i read connecting HA to Alexa is pain in the s
(so far only duckdns+let's encrpt done)

---
ok admit im not a patient guyz... i took easy route...
setup alexa + broadlink + aircon, it is no brainer...

but now i need help... y i cant ask broadlink to RF pair with sonoff tx (433.92MHz)
do i need RF Bridge? i dont have it...

on broadlink there is a setup "i don't have physical remote", follow the step, put sonoff on pair mode...
but there is no respond... so what i did wrong?

---
before u ask, i dont wan to flash tasmota yet...
tat another learning cycles for impatient guyz. sad
ohh if u have tip on flash tasmota over the air, pls msg me

hmm.gif Why you wanna connect broadlink with Sonoff when you can control Sonoff through Alexa?
And Sonoff stock firmware can be added to HA following the video below.

*
1. I don't want setup ewelink acc, coz sonoff has rf build-in
2. I jus want to try rf... before I flash tasmota

thank for the YouTube link...
will watch it later.

btw did u managed to link HA with ur Alexa or Google Home?

1. Use or don't use ewelink, the RF in TX switch is still there.
2. Even after flash Tasmota, still can use RF remote to control it

Yes, follow this long link for Alexa. Good luck. biggrin.gif
*
thanx... for the link

and i know in order for ha to learn and set rf code...
it is complicated trick

still I gv up for today and create the ewelink acc..

now I can slowly take my time to setup ha

Furbar20
jus watch the YouTube, wow no need flash!
but... since do not need to flash, did u update the firmware?

and reread the broadlink + Alexa for HA,
this stuff is really not for weak heart. haha

do u hv any idea why hacs (HA Community Store) not found in Configuration->Integration

1. ha core v110.7
2. hacs v1.1.0

follow the instruction extract the hacs to /config/custom_components/hacs,
saw the logs msg, said after ver 111, i need to remove the .translations folder...
i tried many way, keep both translations folder + remove .traslations folder + remove translation folder, non of it working

i also try to google, one of it mention need to remove the update_x.py, but i didnt saw any "update*" files...

i hv also downgrade the hacs all the way to 1.0.0, still I couldnt find the hacs in Integrations menu

haiz...

if this still not working, i think i need to abandon my rp2

Hi Guys, Not sure this has been ask b4. do a search and browsed for quite number of pages still couldn't find the answer.

1. My current light switch do not have Neutral. But i have aircond switch right beside it. I can pull the N line from aircond switch to my new smart switch which require N line right ?

2. In my case. Do you think i should get Aqara D1 wall switch with N or without N ? any thing that really matter or Pro/Con with N and without N ?
Thanks
*
1. Aircon N line can be shared.

2. I read somewhere the capacitor for non N line is not long lasting,
they might use higher quality now, but I don't take that chance.
but pulling N line is damn troublesome. not all cable in the wall easy to pull.
if u r not renovating... it is better to use the capacitor type.

and since this is always on switch, don't expect the switch will last more than 10years... I'm happy if the switch able to last 5years

Is it ? How bad it is  sweat.gif  sweat.gif

The other smart wall switch you meant is using RF or Wi-Fi ?

If RF does it compatible with broadlink ?
*
my broadlink not compatible with Sonoff RF switch.
lucky the sonoff's wifi is workable
u can easily Google the incompatibility issue

and my broadlink also can't record my automate rf... sad

Which is better for announcements? Echo Dot or Home Mini, if i am using HA?

I have seen this for Home https://github.com/Apipa169/Assistant-Relay-for-Hassio

Anyone have experience with this?

So far right now i have a Wemos D1 Mini that plays a sound (through a speaker) when i want it to for alerts but i think i want something more polished.

Google home can't read corporate email (or maybe include gmail)

smart home devices compatibility, Amazon win
natural speech, AI and future proof....Google win

now I select Amazon first, 5years later decide again

Hey guys, newbie here. Im thinking of setting up a motion sensor outdoors which will trigger the E27 bulbs indoors to turn on when it detects a human outdoors (basically an intruder). I’m invested in the Google Assistant - Yeelight, Xiaomi Vacuum, Sonos.

I’ve done some basic research and i think that I have two budget friendly options.

Mi motion sensor - mi hub - mi E27 bulb
Sonoff motion sensor - ZB Bridge - Bulb (dont know what make and model yet)

Any better idea? Welcome any suggestions. My priority is reliability and ease of use - need to teach my parents as well. Thanks 😊
*
bro, u do it the wrong way... don't make ur life difficult
outdoor sensor should turn on outdoor light
just buy a big ass motion sensor spotlight
if 1 not enough, buy 2, 3, 4 until u surround ur whole house
no intruder dare to come near ur house
no need smarthome or Google Assistance shit
