About zigbee smart switch, can the switch work with wifi or still need the zigbee hub?
If the hub 'down' all the switches lose connection and doesn't work?

Currently im.running the HA on Debian on an 'old hardware' Celeron J1800 itx.

Dear sifus....i am totaly new in smart home. Got some questions want to clarify. I am looking at Tuya now as it can be easily found online with reasonable price.

1) But i notice that there are a lot of Tuya devices from different seller / vendor. Are they all same? I mean do they use different app to integrate or can use one app to integrate/control?

2) I am looking for some wall siwtch to control lighting and sensors for security purpose. For wall switch i notice that there is Tuya wifi smart switch and Zigbee type smart switch. And sensors are mostly zigbee type. Can i mix and match using wifi switch for controlling lighting and  Zigbee sensors for security? How to integrate them together? Any recommended app?
3) Which famous Tuya brand do you recommend? I have standby neutral cable for the switches.

tuya have many manufacturers...
and not all offered the same quality.
i read some of it broke easily especially for non neutral.

i personally like sonoff and been using it for few years.
but it lacked of choices..
eg smart lock, curtains, cctv, power plug etc etc

for this reason, im currently considering tuya as well

One thing about zigbee is that its connection is established by forming path when hop from one device to another, right? What happened when one of the device in path failed. There was cases reported that one device never has log updated for more than a week but when send a request the device responded.

This seems like once path was established it will just stay put and think no request has been made until a manual request re-established new path. 

i prefer sonoff too.. but they lack mechanical wall switches.. mostly tuya have..

For controlling higher power devices, u can wire the smart switch to 'contactor'. Its function like a relay.
Smart switch power the relay, the relay power the device (ex: pump/heater)

Im going to power my water pump this way because the switch is upstairs. (Currently need to go up to switch on pump)
With smart switch can power from anywhere (app or HA interface downstairs)

I plan to get Dimmable RGB+CW/ RGB CCT LED strips for ceiling covelighting for my new place (starting reno - so wirings are still in initial stage) and have some kind of switch control on wall.

I've search most of these strips already comes with 'Smart' integrated and power adapters. No luck with finding non-smart types.

This means I have to get electrician to install a power socket and hide inside the plaster ceiling.

1. Control the strip only via smart control (zigbee hub+phone / smart scene panel).
2. or do as (1) and pull the wiring to a smart wall dimmer switch to still have the ability to physically power ON/OFF the strip also.

Not sure if this approach makes sense.

TNB recommended 100mA for group of MCB to lighting/fan, air-cond and water heater with another 10mA at water heater points. Another RCD with rating of 30mA for groups of MCB to 3-pin sockets.

Finally DIY my first wifi smart switch (Moes brand). Under the app settnig, the is one setting called relay status (on, off & remember last status). Toggling it on/off dont see immediate function. Anyone knows what is that for?
