Besides Sonoff, any other brands that can wirelessly switch things on and off? My plans including a master switch (can be controlled wirelessly) for each section of the house, for example, one for the kitchen, one for the study, one for home theatre, so instead of switching off each individual switch, I just wirelessly switch it off one master switch and the whole section's power goes off.

Ooooo, that was something I didn't think about. Because to me it seems more practical to just turn off one switch instead of multiple switches for just one room.

Can still use multiple switches but do zoning. Group them together as a zone. Which product hv this features?

That was what I was trying to ask the forum members about, which product can do that. I think zoning can be done by electrician, just wiring, so all I need is just one switch to be wireless instead of having 4-5 wireless switches in the same zone.

I know about Sonoff, just want to know are there any other choices besides Sonoff. Cause it involves a lot of self wiring and I intend for the Sonoff/Sonoff-equivalent to be inside the walls.

Received the sonoff unit last week. Weekend got some time. So change the old timer to sonoff for the car posh lighting.

So far so good. Try on/off from far away and around the house. No problem. And now put on timer for everyday on/off.

The unit will be throw ontop the ceiling. It will be subject to hot temperature, humid and dust. See how tough can it stand.

* Today will do some testing. This morning OFF the main. So the sonoff no power. Later late evening, will OFF the network, ON back the main power to sonoff after the timer ON schedule. See it can function without the network and test it memory location.

Must ask the electrician to put neutral wires for all switches if we want to use the Sonoff?

No need. Install near the light and hide it.

Unless you choose the switch panel type sonoff.

Is it easy to DIY replace it with the traditional timer which is located at my DB now?

If you want to locate at your DB, forget it. The size and shape doesn't DB friendly.

If you want to place hide it away near your device, should be ok.

DIY replacing is easy. Cut the wire between and joint this unit in. The rest is hook up with your HP with few instruction.

You can check back here. idoblu got picture how to join.

Or search in youtube. Plenty of instruction.

*
After conduct a test on the sonoff, which

1) Power OFF the main to sonoff. Power OFF the router/modem. Wait till the sonoff schedule timer ON coming out.
2) Power ON the sonoff after the schedule timer ON function. Sonoff doesn't turn ON the light.
3) Power ON the router/modem. iphone detect the network and the apps alive. But sonoff remain OFF. It is on the timer ON schedule.
4) Power OFF the sonoff for a while and ON back. Sonoff remain OFF. Even on schedule timer ON and detect the network.
5) Finally using the apps to ON it.

Conclusion, sonoff require cloud to run. Without network detect, it cannot function on it own. No memory in the device.

"WiFi Pairing and Device Addition
eWeLink obtains device status and controls devices by sending commands through cloud server. This means all devices must first connect to WiFi router and connect to our Amazon AWS server. So every new device must be paired with user's home WiFi and added to eWeLink account."
