QUOTE(kelembai @ Sep 14 2018, 03:19 PM) I don't have such system. Just remote gate only I think what will happen is that when you use your apps to open the gate, Sonoff or whatever switch you use will trigger to send out notification to indicate the door is open. If the door is manually opened, there is nothing triggered to send notification because it is not operated through smart switch, thus you will not know if someone is opening the gate. This is my assumption. Well, if someone is breaching your house parameter, like jumping over the fence, having a sensor to detect gate open will not help. So, I would say the better solution is to have a sensor to detect human presence within your house parameter. This way it will serve the security purpose regardless whether your gate is opened or not. |

QUOTE(Fubar20 @ Sep 14 2018, 01:07 PM) I meant to add the door sensor with your existing POW on the washing machine. I read it from here. Lots of ideas to implement this. BTW, what are u using the Sonoff 4Ch and 4ChPro for? |

QUOTE(ozak @ Sep 14 2018, 09:45 AM) Mostly I think for fun only. In my case, it isn't really because it is for fun. Like a clear use case yesterday night, I left my gate open, and my auto gate remotes are in both of my cars. I live in a 3-storey house, and I do not have a remote to the gate where I sleep on the 3rd floor hence it triggered me if I could leverage on the RM Pro to control the gate since I have Alexa integration and Home Assistant web access already for it - instead of getting another remote and place it on the 3rd floor.I don't see any automation there. More step to execute on the phone than by the remote. Looks like I need to go for the additional remote then, after reading all these comments here. Cheers. |

I think what you need it auto closing if detected no activity around the gate. Maybe really smart rules around this one, i.e. after 12am, etc.But then I read the postings on having a sonoff attached to the autogate board, etc ... I chicken out already. I'm an IT guy, dare not go so deep on electronics |

You can put sensor across the gate to sense any obstruction. But then I read the postings on having a sonoff attached to the autogate board, etc ... I chicken out already. QUOTE(idoblu @ Sep 12 2018, 10:47 PM) The thing with my automation is it only suits me. My habits and my home is unique. I dun see how that can help you. Are you using the Aqara non neutral wireless switch ? Any issues so far?Nevertheless I can tell you what I do with mine. 1. I set my front porch lights to come on at certain time on a daily routine. 2. When I open my front door, the door sensor will trigger certain lights to come on like my living room lights and dining, etc. 3. I use motion sensors to turn on some lights and off after a certain period of time 4. I set one switch at my front door and another switch at my bedroom door to turn off all lights in the house when I go out or go to bed. This is the only time I need to touch the physical switch 5. I got water leak sensors to warn me of any leaks or rain water had enter my bedroom windows 6. I got smoke alarms as well. If it detect smoke, it will turn on all the lights. Sound the alarm of course 7. I got temperature and humidity sensors to warn me say my camera box drops below a certain RH 8. When someone rings the doorbell, it will send me a notification to my phone. I can use the ip camera to see who it is. 9. All the door/ window sensors and motion sensors can trigger an alarm if I armed it before leaving the house 10. My bedroom door sensor will turn on certain lights when it’s open at certain time. This way I dun have to walk into a dark living room. 11. I placed some window sensors on some windows to sound a chime and light up the gateway if they are open. 12. I set my air filter to turn on if it detects a reading of over 50 and off when it reduces to 15 Here are my Aqara stuff. Some not install yet though |

His posts although few and far between is pretty much well thought out. I wouldn't have figured it out how to smartify my life without him. The Sonoff 4CH is a bit over maybe, cause I don't want to reach behind my TV to keep turning on and off the switch, so the 4CH will power 4 plugs, behind the TV, so it will activate the TV, TV box, Amplifier and anything TV related (DVD, Bluray Player, Soundbar), hopefully with voice command and IFTTT, can use voice to search for Movies. So with a few TV sets, need a few 4CH. As for the 4CHPro, it can be powered by AC or DC, I ordered these power windows from a company and it requires AC power to turn the motor, so hopefully, with the 4CH Pro, I can smartify my powered windows as they are located too high up for me to close or open them. Thanks for the info QUOTE(kokwei @ Sep 14 2018, 04:19 PM) In my case, it isn't really because it is for fun. QUOTE(idoblu @ Sep 14 2018, 07:58 AM) I think you need this - https://www.itead.cc/smart-home/inching-sel...ess-switch.html how many remote u hv?But what’s the purpose? I don’t really understand cause your autogate already comes with a remote I hv at least 6 remotes... or mayb more than 10 at a time all cheap quality, infact i think all the remote in the market is cheap quality each one by 2years need to retune the rf and of coz it regularly need to hv battery replacement too...
