Can you please explain the 'Motion' part, please? How it works?

If the object emitting infra red lights is moving, then it triggers the sensor, anyway, it is not as sensitive as microwave sensor, such as it can't detect your hands are moving.

Good question. I never bother to find out because I think it is just like radar, which is active sensor. Now I know that that most cheap sensor uses PIR for both functions.

Here is a good article to describe how PIR is used as motion detector. So, it is said to be PIR motion detector, detect both heat and motion, for commercial reason laugh.gif

PIR sensor has detection angle issue, it can only detect motion at certain angles, and sometimes if your body is cold (after taking cold shower), it will be difficult to detect human body motion.

Agreed

Then it detect infra red as oppose to motion.
That is why I asked if a 'cold' thing move (motion mah) across the sensor, will it trigger?
Bolded part above, my PIR sensor can sense my hands waving. wave.gif

it should be "it uses infrared to detect motion"

I have this pir motion light at backyard and front for very long.

It very much depend on the surrounding temperature. It can trigger sensitive and sometime sot sot.

Even the sensor 1.5m away from me, it will off the light when just my hand move. I have to wave it or dance around.

Now I think the naming can be ambiguous. PIR Motion Sensor in general means Motion sensor that uses PIR. Therefore, it is not a sensor that is triggered by heat and movement, but just movement. That is why in your case, lack of movement switch off the light (or no triggering).

What is needed is an IR + Motion Detector biggrin.gif. Otherwise have to dance while showering smile.gif

just use door sensor lah. open to turn on, close to turn off.
tepat dan senang 😅

advantages -
1. you will never get lockout in the bathroom
2. you will not encounter lights turn off when you are still in the bathroom

or else just wait for RFID like TnG....we stick RFID sticker on our forehead....😂

That means you cannot close door during shower smile.gif

Why not use turbine to generate electricity? When water flows out during shower, the turbine generate enough power to light up white LED light. icon_idea.gif

It have 3 sensor into a dome cover. PIR, motion and light.

It only trigger when in the night. So it use light sensor.

PIR, motion for human. It have 130° angle sense.

But all this sensitive sensor depend on the surrounding temperature. But indoor might me more stable compare outdoor.

i leave it slightly ajar. Anyway my bathroom wall is glass, from bedroom can see inside bathroom so it doesnt make any difference in terms of privacy sweat.gif
your own bedroom ensuite also sked meh? just close your bedroom door
If common bathrooms then don’t put sensor to turn off lights laugh.gif

Yes, the PRI is not really suitable for outdoor if the background (heat) varies a lot. The object heat maybe masked by ambient temperature. Need to use active motion sensor, but need to avoid if the surround has constant movement though.

Actually, in US there are implants of RFID chip at the place between the thumb and index finger. Saw it on a documentary and they use it to open doors and pay for shopping

The one he mentioned are those which send RF code when OPEN and CLOSE position. Can use one
