would like to get recommended option from all sifu here. if I want to buy a bulb for deco table lamp usually put at living hall , what type of smart bulb that I should buy

what I want -  I can control the lamp brightness or colour and can set the timer for this bulb mean switch  on at 7 pm and switch off at 7 am

It is better to get a smart bulb or smart plug for this deco table lamp.
*
Get smart bulb, sonoff b1 or yeelight, no need hub. Both are quite cheap, maybe then can explore the more expensive ones like Philips hue.

If want to use DIY IR blaster, follow the video below

Quite cheap components if you have a spare micro USB charger lying around.
*
This and also openmqtt

https://github.com/1technophile/OpenMQTTGat...aster/README.md

Can directly integrate to homeassistant.
I bought the hardware but never follow up lol

Nice!  Just built the Openmqttgateway myself.
Got IR, RF and DHT modules. Now using DHT first.
Later will progress to IR and RF.
*
Quite amazing really, can even get input or send signal to other ir devices. So can just utilize and integrate existing ir based sensors that you already have to hass.
What's DHT for mostly?

What a pain in the ass for those upgrading from V2 to V3.  laugh.gif
What sensor is that?
Yesterday night, my IR module for OpenMQTTGateway can use to control my TV liao.  rclxm9.gif
*
It's basically smartthings hub in a usb form that's an addon for nvidia shield tv. It was on promotion last year for $15 which is why I grab it since I just bought the shield.

For your IR module, no delays issue or not picking certain command when tuning channels? Like if you were to tune to channel 551, all 3 digit number remote commands successfully sent?

blush.gif I just turn On and Off the TV only. No change any channel. Will try later.  tongue.gif
But of course there is a slight delay if compare to using the remote.
*
It's not the delay I'm worried, just sometimes command doesn't get picked up. Like if I tuned to channel 551, it just sends 51. That's what happened with broadlink rm3.
Some channel can tune in fine, some just misses it, at least when I try to pair to hass then use google assistant.

Something came in the mail today - a new sensor - Aqara Vibration Sensor
The packaging is so much bigger now compare to the old simple box. And shrink wrapped.

user posted image
user posted image

It also comes with a little booklet of instructions in multiple languages including English.
The size of the sensor is exactly the same as the Aqara Temperature Humidity Sensor. Uses the same battery too - CR2032
Model number is DJT11LM for the vibration sensor
user posted image

It can be set to detect three different conditions - Tilt, Vibration and Drop
The Vibration condition can be set to 3 levels of sensitivity - High, Medium, Low
As you can see, IF conditions settings are now in English

My idea at first was to use this as some kind of security sensor for my glass door. But after much thoughts, I decided its not needed as I already got a door sensor there.
Then I hit upon the idea of sticking a sensor under my dining chairs so when I pull up a chair, the dining lights would turn on.
I always find the need to fish out my smartphone, open the app, to turn on my dining table light so this will automate things a bit.
Of course an easier way is to just stick a wireless button underneath the table but this way I feel is more cooler.....hahaha laugh.gif
user posted image

The tilt condition works quite way. I do not know how many degrees you need to tilt it but not much.
The vibration part I feel is not sensitive enough even when set to high. Maybe I need to play around more with the settings....

Gonna stick one under my counter stool too to turn on my counter lights

Nice review bro, wasn't aware this one already out

Might wanna get 2 of those
One with custom firmware and another with original firmware
Test out which one works for you best, then can mess around with automation trigger with ifttt or hass.

Gonna need some extra device and setting when turning off light.
Like having motion sensor so the light switch stays on when someone's inside.
You could set 1 minute timeout to turn off lights when there's no motion after you exit bathroom.

Anyone got better ideas?

Price too cheap liao. Even Sonoff S20 got copycat named EJlink. laugh.gif
*
Doesn't matter really as long using same chip with Sonoff S20/T1
There's a bunch of 3rd party wifi switches that works with ewelink and you can also upload custom firmware like tasmota/espurna.

Well, all of them are using the ESP 8266 chip that's for sure.
But the quality of their components and relay really are unknown.
At least Sonoff got customer service and warranty which can help.
This 3rd party stuff, it is buyer beware then.  unsure.gif
*
I'm using a few, particularly 4 gang switch since sonoff don't have 4 gang yet back then. So far working fine, got some fancy blue/red color for on/off indicator.

From taobao? If it works for you then that's fine
*
Yeah, had to learn how to solder properly and finding the right pins on the board to start flashing since they're slightly different. This was before they release T1 that comes with 2/3 gang.

Hi guys, any recommendation for a decent security cam which works with Google Home?

Nest Cams look good but are very expensive in Malaysia (>RM1100 per unit). If buying in the US, can get 3 units for about RM1600...
*
I'm also curious about this too, seems like only Nest Cams that work directly with Google Home where you can just ask to display the view on your smart display.
Just their ip cameras are a bit expensive and not to mention the monthly subscription fees.

goto lyn service notice board,
look for seller selling amazon service helper.
buy from them... but the product no warranty la.
*
Technically still can claim warranty.
As long as you ship it back to us and they'll replace yours.
But they'll still need a us address to return new device
I just sent back my nvidia shield controller, and my friend helps to ship it back here once he got the replacement.
