No. Sonoff T1 need Neutral wire. It will not work the way it would with switch without N wire.
Forgot to mention, this is 3rd party switch that's also using psf-b85, same esp8285 used on sonoff t1. So can also use rf and flash custom firmware like espurna/tasmota using t1 profile. Gonna try see if it works once I get the 3 gang at1
For me, it is not about the module used in the circuit but how the circuit is designed to power the module. It is more on the circuit design and nothing to do with firmware.
More of this 3rd party wifi switch is recommending to use capacitor as alternative method to neutral wire. We'll see if it works
Wow this is just what Im looking for, I just bought a sonoff t1 3 gang without realising I cannot use it for my porch light, since most switch dont have neutral lines. This is an interesting solution. Can your friend share the contacts of the electrician that did the mod. The last electrician I talked to told me no choice have to hack the wall and pull a neutral line to the switch.
I tested the basic sonoff on my Xmas lights and thought the wall switch would work the same.
It's a diy job, quite easily done He just replaced the switch, take a ladder, remove the lamp casing and place the capacitor
If you want, i got a spare capacitor that i didn't use since I installed my wall switch by looping neutral wire.
And if you're looking to get one at nearby electronic store, it's this model CBB22 630V 103J

Guys, anyone integrated the sonoff T1 to Amazon Echo? if it's a 3 gang switch, can the voice command control switch by switch? or it will on all 3 switch when you ask it to turn on? Can configure each individual switch to different names on that one gang? Thanks!
i bought the aqara cam to compliment the 1st gen hub and perhaps to try play with HA, a bit leceh to go buy another one again BTW is the mi smart socket (non zigbee) compatible with HA?
Maybe can try sell to you friend trying out xiaomi sensors Now they've got few devices that functions as gateway like the ac plug. Just not sure if fully compatible with ha yet (issues getting the password for local protocol)

I think the thinkings are going to complicated directionย
I believe that any auto-gate for house has momentary switch on the wall to open and close the gate. Why can't just replace that switch with whichever remote switch?
Well, there's that but i think someone mentioned before that it's just a normal switch. No live wires connected to it or something Don't have autogate yet so not really sure for the installation

from what i gather at the moment, it seems that u will need to have the xiaomi IR round transmitter first, then the receiver which comes in both formats (box or usb dongle) contains the RF antenna which will do the last mile communication with the RF device.
during purchase, u will need to specify the receiving device frequency (433 / 315 / etc Hz).
now comes the tricky part which i don't quite understand yet. the description claims that the product can learn the RF commands of the device it is controlling, but not sure how this can be done.
For autogate control in the market, is there a common set of standard command that the RF remote uses which this product can just replicate?
As long as the frequency is within 433/315mhz, then no problem to learn that command. But if the frequency is different like 308mhz (for fans) then it can't learn that one.
the copier autogate remote available on the market is a simple setting. it can copy without any configuration. but yes, u need to be aware of those RF frequency. Ive 2 gates, both using different frequency. thus i need an item that can support both frequencies.
Can you check what frequency it's using? Maybe from the manual or on the remote
problem with broadlink, only the old one can be controlled by alexa through RM plugin. the latest one u cant even detect the plugin and thus u are stuck with alexa broadlink skill which can only control IR to control your TV. to know what version u used is difficult.
So I tried switching to ihca app for broadlink bean but i notice always get timeout. Like if i set scene to turn on tv/astro/ht at once, one/two of them doesn't respond.
Same goes with tuning tv channel by scene (channel 423 for example). One of the digits doesn't get sent to astro, ending up like 23- instead.
I use HA, hassio to send out script in squence & delay time in between sequence. Will share part of the configuration.yaml once im at home. It turn on TV & my hypptv box (until it enter channel)
The last command โexitโ for hypptv to remove the lower row of menu is cacat abit & need to delay further. My timing to deliver exit button RF package is slightly faster d
I use hass too, works better with broadlink Thought the new ihc app would be better but got timeout errors How's your channel tuning script? Can select astro channels without any problems or sometimes still missing certain digits?
Home Assistant even offline you cant control from app. Only from your pc
Yeah, at least with your own hosted mqtt server, you can still control on local network if internet's down. No need pc, just access hass ui on phone or any mobile device.
For the xiaomi cameras, can you set specific time of the day to record and alert you when a motion is detected? For example 7AM to 6PM only. Any other time out of this range will stay silent (although camera is still in operation).
Also can, just specific area monitoring might not be available to certain xiaomi cameras.
Guys How do i configure the HA ios app? Im not sure how to get the url and password. Been using the web interface since i got started recently - hassio.local
Need to portforward & use ddns service like duckdns so you can access outside of your home network & use that for your ios app.
Setup mqtt server on your rpi Need to flash firmware with custom firmware like espurna/sonoff. If you wanna avoid soldering you could just use pogo pins to flash the sonoff board. There's also wifi method like SonOTA but doesn't work with devices running >1.6 firmware apparently.
